There Claymores -- -- tactic all right it's time to review another android tablet this time of the Galaxy Tab ten point one -- out.
So how does it stack up here are mine -- the hardware is nice it's thin it's light it feels nice in the hand.
Surprisingly the camera is decent and that's saying something for tablets typically they haven't been good.
As a three megapixel camera but nothing to sneeze at at least they're not grainy and it does well in low light situations.
It's light it's slightly lighter than the iPad but at the end of the day who cares and you probably won't even know.
Yes the Samsung Galaxy Tab feels nice in your hand and got a nice display the hardware works well.
But who's buying a device like this to you walk into a store with a blindfold on -- just.
Feel around for devices and say you know what it feels nice I'll take that one.
Now which you really want is the experience with the software that you get.
When you start using.
The display on the Galaxy Tab is nice but it is the sixteen by ten widescreen.
Which is great for movie pounds but.
Actually find it really weird.
-- little too stretched.
Take for instance when I pull up the calendar here -- see how all of my calendars are actually stretched in one direction or the other.
It just doesn't feel right in my hands.
And from a software perspective.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab is average it doesn't stack up anywhere near close to the iPad experience let's talk about applications for one.
Samsung has included a few apps themselves only about six of their own applications on top of the android experience.
So if you subtract the six applications from Samsung on this device you're left with the a bunch of kind of shoddy applications that aren't really need for honeycomb which is the operating system running on this device.
They're a bunch of them 65000.
Of them but very few quality applications.
They're very few developers who -- really sinking their teeth into this platform yet.
For instance there are very few.
Good Twitter clients on this device there are very few good news reader applications on this device I read lots of news on my tablet.
Not gonna find it here.
So bottom line should you buy this device I can't in good conscience tell you to go -- spend 499 dollars on this half baked experience.
When this fully baked iPad experience is sitting right there unless of course you want to go shopping like this.
I'm Clayton Morris for your fox tactic we'll see next week.
