Back to the -- gun running staying at claimed at least one American life and reports that the head of the ATF.
Could be about to lose his job over this Kenneth Nelson acting director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.
At the Helm during operation fast and furious.
That was the program that intentionally flooded Mexico with high powered weapons in an effort to track those weapons.
Back to cartel members but agents never tracked all the weapons joining me now is -- Christian athletes.
The DOJ attorney and Pajamas Media contributor hi mr.
Adams thanks for being here.
Good afternoon -- so if Ken Nelson loses his job over this.
Is that are we to believe it that's where this edict began that he issued the order for this wildly flawed program that just basically had agents.
Surveilling criminals as they got their hands on guns or is it possible that this edict came from higher up the chain of commander -- down the chain of command.
Well of course Ken Nelson's gonna lose his job because he's a bush guy.
The head of ATF doesn't do something like this without the approval of the bag the deputy attorney general who at the time was -- grim work.
Or the attorney general himself I mean.
This behavior is positively nixonian.
What we're learning every day from the Justice Department it's a lot like the new black panther dismissal where they enable lawless behavior.
-- they lie about it to congress and the American people and once again they've been able lawless behavior and the lying about it to congress and the American people.
And so does this answer the question I mean so many people including family members.
Brian -- who was killed in reportedly in connection with some of these guns.
Does this solve the problem of the government finally taking accountability for this flawed.
Operation fast and furious.
It -- and goes that's shouldn't be the end of the story because nothing gets done at the Justice Department in this bureaucracy.
Without higher ups being fully briefed I mean we've learned that the attorney general knew about the black panther dismissal before it was dismissed.
That Gary Graham -- or the Baghdad.
The deputy attorney general or Eric Holder himself we're not routinely briefed about fast and furious.
So in other words if in facts.
Ken house and does -- -- fall on his sword as some say.
You don't think that this will will put the issue to rest do you think that congress will continue investigating her is that would -- over for them.
Now all obviously -- -- is gonna push.
Senator Grassley is gonna push I mean this story is so outrageous.
When I first heard about it -- Pajamas Media when I was looking to cover it in January.
I said this could happen I called bush former bush Justice Department people.
And said what do you think about this they said there's no chance this is the real story lo and behold it's like something you'd read and an awful.
Not in the newspapers so.
If there's no question -- Nelson's gonna go the only question remains is number one.
How -- -- -- -- number two will the media do anything about it besides places like Fox News in pajamas.
Wanna ask about this other story that has just come out that the FBI will have new rules that they will give agents more leeway.
On surveillance tell us what this means.
Yet what this means is that special agents the law low level guys.
Will have to get out right now superior approval before they could go through your trash before they could do certain investigations.
Under this proposed Eric Holder Justice Department change.
They will have to no longer get approval from supervisors they can just do -- themselves.
And this is a departure from normal DOJ policy when I was there.
Virtually everything you did had to be approved for example the voting section now.
You can even send out an email without having the political appointees take a look at it so this is a marked departure.
From long standing DOJ policy that raises questions about civil liberties.
But yet it also puts more control in the hands of field agents which obviously.
Would make them happy -- and could help them -- more cases.
The reality of it is though that no supervisors likely to deny.
A credible investigative request the DOJ.
That's a check on the power the federal government.
Only in the most extreme cases with a supervisor currently denied but under this change proposed by holder there's not going to be any checks or balances on field agent behavior.
ROJ Christian Adams we know that you know so well the culture inside the -- thanks so much for coming in.
Great to -- health impacts.
Are -- will be right.
