Today friends in mind that that -- and do business with China.

And you know the IMF report.

Predicted that China's economy will surpass size cars by the year 2016.

-- We know the Moody's is saying that are.

That are are AAA bond rating isn't in jeopardy steel works closely with the Chinese -- they feel that America.

Is in decline.

Because friends of mine that do business over in China they say that is that is what they're saying it.

They do believe that we're in decline.

They have a whole lot invested in this country and they -- -- see a strong believe it or not but they believe in the heart of hearts that were in decline and that we're likely not gonna get back up on our feet again.

And it's giving rise to a generation of nationalistic thinking in China Fred there's only blue sky ahead for them let me ask you this.

Feel this is that you kind of an interesting records as.

And it's been it's somewhat diverse I mean on the one hand you very pro life.

He passed a number of even what some would say controversial pro life.

Bills when -- -- governor.

Allowing women to know for example obtain that a fetus would go through that that's when you're governor you talk.

No second term abortions for example.

And you want the Republican Party not just to focus on economics but also on on some life issues so you very conservative in those areas.

-- -- of state wide flat tax.

And you can reduce the sales tax tax credit for industry to -- industry into -- -- all conservative positions.

Do you identify yourself as safe as a conservative.

You know everybody has labels and tags -- they wanna throw your way and all I say -- look at my record I'm running on my record a lot of people run away from their records.

I'm very proud of my records.

Some people like it and others will find elements of what that they don't like.

But I would -- -- -- myself Shaughnessy is a conservative problem solver when all is said and done I'm a conservative problem solver.

And if you look at what we did in Utah to make it the finest economy of the country to make -- the best -- data in America.

Some reporting periods a few years ago providing more jobs in America than any state America that little state of Utah I'm very very proud of the record.

What about some of these areas he would wear -- obviously the conservative voters are a big part of the voting bloc in a primary.

Your support of climate change which include cap and tax hasn't been sort of -- went along with Arnold Schwarzenegger on -- Civil unions that you support for gays and lesbians.

And the right of the children of illegal immigrants to go to school.

Those are not conservative positions.

You stand by them today.

Cap and trade I do not cap and trade is something that every governor look at every governor consult with CEOs -- the experts on many years ago.

In today's economic environment there's no way that we should be promoting anything that stands in the way of economic and business recovery and that -- In terms of civil unions I am ram on civil unions and some like it some won't I'm not a traditionalist when it comes to marriage but I think subordinate to marriage.

We have not done an adequate job in terms of equality and fairness when it comes to reciprocal beneficiary Wright's -- of gay marriage.

-- I'm not for gay marriage I'm just -- civil unions that's right.

Okay -- you take this to conservative states early primary states the Iowa Caucuses South Carolina.

Those probably not going to be popular positions.

Have you thought that through a well we've -- -- the we've been in many of these states we're not competing in Iowa we're competing you're very aggressively in New Hampshire and South Carolina and -- Florida.

And I talk about my record anyone who wants to come up and challenge him and I tell what it is.

And try to explain -- and best of my ability.

-- I can win over a 100% nobody ever does but I think being true to yourself is also very important you you said the New York Times quoted -- that when you -- in China.

You know you watch in the Tea Party movement I guess from a little bit -- -- distance and he said that.

I don't know much about tea parties and and birthers and some of the tried to interpret that as maybe you go for the more moderate independent vote in the Republican Party.

And maybe not the solid conservative base.

Your reaction to that well -- I haven't seen that quote but I will tell you what I've said consistently -- don't trust the New York.

That we tell me what I -- what I've said consistently about the Tea Party movement again.

-- watching it from 101000 miles away it is a manifestation of our democracy is a manifestation of the anger and outrage that people feel in this country.

It's a way that we do business in the United States and if it puts pressure on elected officials to do things a little differently.

To begin to balance the books.

To look at a balanced budget amendment so and so forth and that's a good outcome let me ask you go back to President Obama for just a minute.

There was some speculation and it's been written about that may be one of the reasons the president appointed you ambassador to China.

Because of one of his political advisors it said there -- me queasy about you and more open maybe that you wouldn't run again.

What are your impressions having worked with him but yet -- think he's failed in terms of his overall record.

And -- didn't -- -- is -- a little conflict they knew about him and what do you think of them personally vs how he feels policies are.

I respect the president he's a good family man I think he's earnest I think he's trying his best.

Where we are today I mean just look at the score -- economically we're -- -- failed position internationally we have more problems than ever before.

I think we have a generational opportunity to get the numbers right.

And -- on launch the entrepreneurial and innovative magic of this country.

And I think we have a generational opportunity -- to get our position right in the world as well -- you won't pull out of Afghanistan immediately.

I know you didn't support the effort in Libya -- -- conflict now about whether or not the president's abiding by the war powers act.

What do you think he'll be wise to pull out.

Recognizing -- and you recognize we have a war on terror course.

Do you think it would be best to finish the job first.

-- in a war on terror -- and he's symmetrical effort requiring a symmetrical presence in Afghanistan not 101000 boots on the ground.

But I think that is more -- line with the needs of intelligence gathering.

Special warfare capabilities.

And also training some of the locals on the ground that's not a 100000.

I think Julio with Karzai in power with al-Qaeda and that he is in the sanctuaries.

Pakistan.

But time is right to continue with laser like precision on the bad guys while drawing down a very heavy and expensive presents we have in Afghanistan.

How do you overcome -- I read one poll.

That only 35% of Republican voters.

Knew who you walk.

-- know who you are.

This is that a big obstacle for you -- -- and you feel like you're on an introduction to -- -- we'll begin in today's media saturated world I think I think it's a temporary challenge.

-- we come here to the media capital of the world we launch a campaign.

I think in very short order people begin to understand who we are what it is we stand for and -- -- -- take this great country of ours.

All right governor thank you so attrition and the Russian campaign we'll see -- there -- -- take care thank you.
