-- a Deal or No Deal.
President Obama and top US lawmakers from both parties meeting at the White House later today see if they can actually reached an agreement on the debt ceiling but earlier this week the white house Press Secretary Jay -- sounded like he already knew what the American people wanted.
Americans are not like I demand this you know the I draw the Red Line here and I draw this in the standing that they just want us to get something done that's sensible.
Did it spreads the sacrifice.
And and and and spreads the prosperity.
So it was a deal let's spread the prosperity wind that can help fix the economy.
-- -- Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan chairman of the House Budget Committee boy I would love to be a fly on the wall all of those meetings today sir.
What do you think's gonna -- -- -- this is this is all depending -- you -- the -- -- -- moving on your on -- platform -- no more taxes.
We'll get 8 good morning by the way -- First of all I still think we've got a ways to go here I don't think you're gonna see some big bargain -- today.
First of all spending -- the problem.
We have yet to nail down all the kinds of spending cuts were talking about.
-- the second part of the story that is just not getting covered these days is that there's already huge tax increases scheduler current current law.
And -- thirteen.
And massive wave of tax increases because of the president's health care law because of the lame duck tax bill he signed are scheduled to hit small businesses and families -- point thirteen and that's putting a chilling effect on job growth and -- today.
She already had tax increase is coming let's not forget that fact.
And so what we're simply saying is we gotta cut spending.
An ounce for every dollar of debt limit increase the president once we need to -- more than -- dollar for the spending.
We put on our budget to do that tomorrow marks the 800 day since the senate -- to -- even pass a budget.
-- we have no budget process here and the reason you know when you're having all this coverage here.
Is because the only game left in town to cut spending -- get this deficit in the control of the debt limit.
Exactly congressman many people know that you're good at math because you put together the whole GOP budget plan but may not know that you might be good at a dual.
I guess you treated that you want to have a dual actually with the president here's what you -- it.
Since they attended today's -- dual challenge skyward.
I -- you said fear mongering won't solve our debt crisis Americans deserve a real debate you pick.
When and where.
-- -- -- -- I didn't know because I don't think that's true and it's okay did he give you a response at all.
No no I'm doing actually if FaceBook town hall tonight you go to my website prosperity.
-- dot com I'm doing a FaceBook town hall tonight.
To answer these questions that have not yet been answered.
Look I think the nation deserves a real honest debate about its future of -- what are we gonna do to grow the economy pay off our debt.
Cut spending and get this deficit off our backs and grow the economy you just don't grow the economy by taxing people.
Let alone by taxing success -- small businesses which is where most of our jobs come from.
Unfortunately that's the kind of stuff that's being talked about look we are all in favor of tax reform.
Meaning getting rid of tax loopholes to lower everybody's tax rates to have a fair tax system -- flatter tax system and one.
That creates job growth.
But we're not engine just raising taxes for the sake of raising taxes and more importantly raising them on success -- small business which is where most of our jobs come from.
-- right now coming up today at 10 AME have a very important House Budget Committee hearing it's called budgeting for America's national security.
A let's face it congress and one of the things being highly talked about is to cut the spending at the Pentagon is that -- gonna discuss today.
It is it is -- look the Democrats asking for this hearing I was happy to oblige I believe.
In the majority.
You have to work with the minority and and accommodate their concerns and their issues and they've asked -- -- -- on the ranking member asking for this hearing.
Happy to oblige -- so we're gonna have good debate and a good discussion.
And the Budget Committee about the Pentagon budget we're gonna have perspectives from all sides of the point.
Congressman thank you very much for all your hard work on this really really extremely important issue thank you very much -- congressman Paul Ryan thank you thank you.
