This is Fox News alert -- cat and -- just passed by the Republican controlled House of Representatives.
The -- was 230 for a 2190.
-- the bill calls for slashing billions in immediate -- made it caps future spending and proposing a balanced budget amendment to the United States constitution.
We'll have much more on the straight ahead but first.
Did you -- the other big news today Republicans senator Tom Coburn is back he does react with the gang of six senators that he did some in May but now he's back with -- -- And hours ago the -- announcing new debt plan but -- -- -- Yesterday senator -- -- unveiled his own plan.
And then there is Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is -- so which one of these plans is a sure fix we asked Republican senator Tom Coburn.
-- -- -- I said yesterday the headlines were you at a nine trillion dollar plan today of joy and rejoined I should say they gang of six -- something less -- three point simply tell the difference between the two plants.
Yeah about five point three trillion dollar I actually I think that I knew -- -- Jackson traveled but anyway one fixes are complete problem.
One actually gets -- out of trouble as a country the other moves us in the direction.
If you if you want us to be able to truly borrow money at the best rates of anybody in the world and you want to put our economy back.
Court needs to be with vibrant job creating economy.
Then you would do this nine trillion dollars that gets us out of the risk of default gets us back -- solves the problems.
Takes away that the shackles we put on our kids and grandkids but realistically it.
A wouldn't gonna get but maybe ten or twelve votes for that.
So what is it that we can do that starts us down the process that sends them the signal to the international financial community that we understand we have a serious problem -- -- -- Here's the problem with the -- -- three point seven they think can pass as opposed to your nine -- -- plan that they say could fix a prompt.
Is that let's say that have passed now.
I year from now couldn't congress get together in the present and change things.
You have been very difficult because the the plan require 67 votes to do that.
Only 67 votes you can always change anything you going to change the constitution he knew anything was 67 votes.
But 67 votes would be required changes to spend more money to change the -- You can always change things.
That's why you know my ideal thing would be kept kept in balance you have a balanced budget amendment and now we're locked in forever we have to live it.
The same confines that area other American and every other state with the exception one has to -- Why isn't there an appetite to fix it once and -- -- because American people are struggling we realize even see the financial committees answered every is uncertain.
The the cut -- and bounces one -- of to fix it permanently we had -- the debt commission presents that commissioned the a Bowles Simpson.
That was supposedly fixing your -- is supposed to fix it and now we're back to three point seven and the gang of six which is just to sort of and keep things going to.
I think there's a deficit of courage.
And this this dual mindedness that people want to do what's best for the country as long drink can do what's best for their political career.
But when you put those two opposition then what happens -- careers tend to.
When it means I can't say -- more frankly than that and that's human nature I understand it.
But it's a -- and that's why republics -- No.
My whole goal would be that we would -- history.
That we would not go the way of every other Republican the world.
Which is get out of control on your your fiscal matters and lose it and that's what we need to get back to the nine pretty.
But the fact is as we have a very significant thing coming up.
August 2 and we need to be about -- about fix them and or at least limiting the pain that the country's gonna have right now so that we can actually fix it later.
Hosted different though from Princeton senator McConnell wanted to get criticism from within his party you want to do a three stage process -- was sent kicking the can down the road is a phrase it's been used to mean that the gang of six.
There's not a fix it just sort of.
Postpone all but it's totally different than what senator McConnell wants to do senator McConnell.
Wants to know that you -- wants to give the spending increases.
And allow the president with a third of each body taken to control that.
And aunts and an aunt and that is an answer if that's what we have to get to that's what we'll have to get to if that's the only option we have because we really can't let the country.
I don't think we would -- fall particularly but look the politics around that are big.
But this is significant this is three point seven trillion is well over forty personal way you have to get there.
Two to solve our problems and the fact that you can do that in a bipartisan way shows the American people is there -- is some.
Common sense appear there is some ability to give and take.
And it starts us down the road that this the other side -- your question is this what would keep us from.
Not change and that won't have to change because.
That's just 40% of the way we're gonna have to get the other 60%.
So we're -- we're not gonna be able to go back because the pressure's going to be on us like you see the pressure on Greece.
It's not gonna lighten up it's gonna get heavier.
Police say that with the with the -- -- six proposed three point seven trillion.
That the reason wanna go to the permanent fix is because of the lack of political courage and that's very disheartened I think most of the American people to think that the people of central Washington.
Lack the political courage -- to make the decisions that we really need to face this time.
Well I think think about what I put in the nine trillion dollars.
You know it's significant changes in the Pentagon.
Significant changes in terms -- -- -- military retired military health -- significant changes to Medicare Medicaid Social Security.
-- security money station over on this side that it actually fixes it.
How many people up here don't go embrace what what I think we need to do.
It's not me that's the problem isn't just yet opposing political party -- to people within your own party -- this it's a bipartisan problem.
It looked and one of the reasons I'm a term limited members on self imposed -- -- Is because he gives me the ability to do what's right.
Not what is politically expedient.
I'm you know I'm not running for election.
I'm gonna do what's best for the country not what's best for Tom -- not what's best for the Republican Party I'm gonna do what I think is best for the country.
And I think you have a lot of people who want to do that and -- times do you do that.
But there's also a lot of times when we we don't stand up and do what we need to do.
Because we're thinking about -- next election and the interest groups that sports.
And that the other interesting thing is just the gang of six -- can be defeated if you let all the special interest that don't want anything to happen.
What we have to have as we need people to stand up so we're gonna fix that that that the gang of six -- better and better than nothing.
I'd rather have a nine trillion dollar solution we can do that that has a trillion dollars worth of new revenues to federal government.
That come from eliminating tax expenditures and tax credits so we -- -- -- looked at all heirs of that let's say here.
As a doctor here's my prescription for -- what's wrong with our country today and it would it actually lower our debt.
Word be about twelve trillion dollars in the past.
They gang of six -- -- gay sex.
I think it has good it's the only thing I know that has real potential run so my hope would be yes.
-- thank you sir you're welcome good company.
