And while former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani insists he still has not made up his mind about entering the presidential race well he did just pay a visit.
To the all important state in New Hampshire a destination that tends to raise more than a few eyebrows at this point -- political season.
So I sat down with a former mayor to get answers about 2012 and his intentions plus his thoughts on the great -- debate take a look.
It's rare hour into the sip a very good China where Giuliani -- -- I gotta get this out of the way because I know you wanna talk more than a public financing wherever.
Lot of rumors you're really making.
Thinking about making a run where are you with us.
What was it I was in New Hampshire last week a couple of days I got a lot of advice and -- -- suspicious got a lot of advice about New Hampshire.
Which I think I I understand I gotta think -- the rest of the country what kind of a chance to really have how the candidates doing.
Is anybody really.
Looks like they can win not my objective is.
We cannot have prisoner com.
After the next year McCain got it this has been -- and we'll look look at what he's put us through with this old dead thing -- -- this is it does because the president doesn't lead.
An Indian river Republicans Democrats -- -- other house in the the president has never outlined how he would do this outrageous.
No plan that should be like if I would what are the mayor of New York if I said government to do a budget -- -- the City Council.
But what if there were 800 days and she's done everything as we get health -- this way.
Mean -- good reason health -- -- such a -- is he never he never had a health care plan.
He waited for what that what did people in the house said people in the senate and now he's working with Democrats Republicans -- are two sides against the middle nobody knows what to think he's doing.
He's he's not put down on paper what is plan -- but -- -- the biggest that's the single biggest outrage here if if if we default and I hope we don't but if we default.
90% of the responsibilities on the present United States not on even the Democrats in the house or the Republicans -- on him he's the leader in this country.
He's the chief executive of the country and he's yet to outline a plan because -- -- Don afraid.
He's got to -- political cut and he's pretending he wants to do all these big -- really -- want to cuts.
I know with.
At least to be honest about it he that he wants to the minimum number of cuts and a maximum amount of tax increases that we should battle out that whole thing you know but the interesting thing to me is you took over New York City at a time where is really a mess.
And you.
You're in them won't middle one war after another and always outlining my plan on -- amount from from day one day after I got elected I sat down.
Very quickly selected ahead of OMB and we mapped out a plan a strategy.
What's the greatest in the world -- workers -- and I was willing you know the compromise but it was -- -- and we were compromising off I learned that from Ronald Reagan I worked for Ronald Reagan.
Day one he had a strategy he had a compromise and a little here and there Ronald Reagan was greatest -- to begin 80% you one.
But it was always his plan he was leading he was saying these are the tax cuts we need these -- the reductions in spending we -- we got into a 10% across the board cut.
But -- thought about but it's depressing United States who does the leading and the reason.
We have a president that can't do it as -- you've made this point over and over but just think about this he's never done a budget before.
We take a guy who's never done about -- the biggest budget in the world to run of course is gonna screwed up.
He's never had executive responsibility.
And now he's he's dealing with one of the most complex problems this -- debt problem is an enormously complex problem he's got too rigid.
Groups on either side right we've got a Republicans who say no tax increases maximum reductions and other Democrats who say.
That'll increase taxes to 80% if they get their way.
OK could but here's -- -- you see I think the Republican plan number one the president even said you don't raise taxes during a recession or an economic slowdown was still in an economic slowdown.
And it seems like you're right the Democrats want to raise taxes.
He'll do you mentioned Reagan Reagan drop the top margin rate 720 which -- would you lower taxes as mayor which is what should happen here okay so the president is just inflexible.
He won't move right on this.
So the Republicans have passed out two bills in the house.
They've done their job -- they've done what they do what they were hired to do.
It's time for him to put up.
Put up something out OK put up some billion and but I'm unfortunately you know I thought -- Until the whole point of the gang of six.
Although has some good elements to -- I like that I like the tax reform I like reducing the marginal rates one of the things that I liked about it is.
It recognizes a trillion dollars from tax reduction.
Even recognize it trillion dollars in additional -- Which you that you get is very very hard getting any of these government agencies -- recognized that.
On the other hand it net raises taxes which is a terrible mistake and would be a terrible drain on our economy and the thing I I don't like about it is we should not be introducing.
Raising taxes and when we have a president has already said well this is not the time to do it.
I I've been bringing up the last couple days my anger at the Republicans I think frankly -- negotiating tactics have been -- Because here you had the on the day cut -- and balance which I think is a very solid right land to build with problems or short term and long term.
It's actually the only way out of your way out of it OK so you agree with me and you agree with the house.
But on that same day that all of a sudden the president gets to steal the thunder and walk into the press room and say no we got another -- so now the country doesn't even focus on.
But the Republicans that this they gave the president that opening why would they commission in this instance it does the problem when you don't have that you don't have the White House you know heavily era of leadership.
Like they don't have leadership we don't we have that we have house representatives wants an elitist given senate where everybody -- -- The -- is the senator Clinton's -- is.
You know ten -- his fifteen -- twenty leaders and no they don't agree you listen to that you listen and they obviously they have different the viewpoints about how to do it.
Yeah well it seems that if the president has no plan and then we got three Republican plan -- -- negotiate against ourselves that's ridiculous which is eight terror terrible mistake and I I think I think I know the results here a minute.
The result is the get a kick this thing down the road beginning eEye yeah it again and again and that that this is a terrible.
Mistake I mean we shouldn't default we also.
Can't have this deficit both are equally crippling the chargers say which is worse you -- deal both if you wanna straight -- our economy.
I know back to you Linda and run for president -- central question really good you went right into the Internet everything he went to New Hampshire.
And yet where where you now I mean they use your session this that you jumped up on the lead unevenly or are you get -- not -- -- thinking.
I listened to a lot of people listen there's -- some think it's a good idea to run some think it is it means that you listened to you try to assess the whole thing he also try to figure out.
Can you win some primaries after.
After after New Hampshire and I don't want to do this just to.
You know just just did.
-- and -- I wanna do it.
Only because I think I'm I have the best chance of winning.
And if I think somebody else has a better chance well don't spoil their chances it's too important that we replace Obama when -- think you need -- to decide we've got to decide by you know the end of summer.
Okay I think in August and September and is up from August September supplement that.
Last question is there any one person you see in the field now or any few -- like a lot of them you have an article on some some more than -- -- to keep it to myself until I decide -- a good because the government against all of them they you don't -- -- say that's I'd like let you listen to what John McCain I announced during a debate if I wasn't going to be supporting John -- -- half my staff got real life you're gonna do that -- probably did mr.
mayor good to see if they didn't they -- us for leadership.
And coming up that's.
