Deal or No Deal NFL owners are urging players to seal the deal now.

The clubs -- -- An agreement that was negotiated with the players this afternoon hopefully.

We can no work.

Quickly and expeditiously and get this agreement on.

It is time to give back to football.

Or is -- players -- spending the weekend reviewing a possible contract but no guarantees.

There will be football this seizing joining us this morning former Texas Tech football coach.

Mike -- -- -- 84 football games over a decade in Lubbock Texas good to see you sir good to see you wanna talk about your book swing this sort swing your sword but this NFL lockout the players I'm talking to say well they feel like the owners through them under the bus they came out.

Today there's football welcome back everybody without bringing the players in on this announcement letting them read the deal.

Will we have football by September rate the start of the season.

-- not a great question everybody I talked to has been optimistic that they well but there's been these.

Little points -- -- optimism every step of the way I think the owners have the upper hand in.

Traditionally they do in these -- entered traditionally they come out ahead -- I guess I'm kind of for the players to put but it makes a lot of money -- arguing about who gets attend.

And you know.

I hope they get it figured out because I'm gonna go to camp and watch some of my friends coach in two directional.

I think they get it done by by Monday or Tuesday will have football by that season opener let's talk about your book now.

It's an it's an inspirational book it's not just about the controversy of course everyone does want to talk about what happened at Texas Tech.

You of course sent the son of Craig James Adam James who had a concussion -- to a darkroom during practice that we can agree on the.

Well we're not -- -- on that we didn't send him I didn't send him anywhere you know He.

He comes out late to practice then.

So I asked the trainer says session and why did you like you we've are stirred practice we've got -- going.

Pieces I don't know we discussed here or should I should wise -- -- addressed is what He wasn't in work here.

This is not knowing just got Pearson -- -- get sunglasses on and says.

He says well He has a slight concussion his eyes are sensitive to light a -- getting off the field and -- -- so.

And I the united know where He went but.

Half an hour later the -- says well he's in this that the equipment ship which is a sizable one and -- -- car garage.

Where the O line would go play around during special teams in the send -- Are different stories that we've heard played out over the last couple of years the bottom line is they fire you you would not apologize they wanna due to admit you're wrong and apologize.

You are filing a lawsuit against Texas Tech which the appeals court has said they have sovereign immunity can't be sued you're suing ESPN.

Eventually in the bottom line is you're not coaching you -- one of the greatest minds in college football today Michael Lewis a great author says it's is sick and then you're writing books instead of college.

Coaching college football do you regret anything throughout this process of how you handled it.

-- you know really really not within the framework of what I had to work with I think they did the best I can I mean.

You -- understand Craig James heard a PR firm ten days before complained about any thing because He was dissatisfied.

With the playing time his son was getting.

And yet on that and then that the chancellor was not supposed to be involved in the contract negotiations to Begin -- -- you know was in was acrimonious because of public outcry was you know -- the schedule of competitive contract so do you utilize the same.

PR firm.

To smear me how to protect his agenda as far as firing me I am looking forward to getting back -- coaching writing about when will that happen.

I don't know that's a good question I think I think this smear campaign they've done.

His had a chilling effect it's unfortunate but.

You know when -- as a tech we went from one of the lowest graduation rates in the country to the highest of any public institution and the highest in the top 25 we won.

Went to ten straight poles one more in Boston -- more than the rest of the history of the school combined.

And you know my guys never got in trouble we didn't have any major the NCAA violations and -- made him what a bunch of money expended the stadium three times in six years and we're on T went from being on TV two times the thirteen time.

He built the program there and love -- can a lot of people would like you see you back coach -- football I'm one of them it's great to see you -- and the book is swing your sword that alludes to his.

Passion for pirate.

History and folk -- I know that something Clayton can appreciate -- -- thanks for being here this morning coming up.
