It has spread from Capitol Hill to the campaign trail so joining us now to talk about how the two next is Michigan congressman and presidential candidate.
That -- the -- congressman thanks for joining us today.
Thanks for a -- All right so you're on both sides of this to your actively on Capitol Hill -- engaged in this debate which are also up their campaign so what's your solution to the debt crisis.
But supporter cosponsor -- cap and balance I believe that is the way to go and one of the things that I find frustrating is -- -- -- speaker doesn't many Americans do.
This way the Democratic Party has been irresponsible throughout this process this is the part of it couldn't produce a budget.
This is the party that went on a spending -- now expects to raise taxes to cover part of it this is the part of the still not put forward a concrete plan as an alternative to -- cap and balance.
So we start to look at -- spoke on the campaign trail and inside Washington.
People -- understand that the real problem here is an administration and the Democratic Party the refuses to be serious about the restructure government that is necessary for the 21 century.
So how we change that at this point.
-- the speaker continues on the right path he's going to try to continue to work in a bipartisan way with people who are willing.
To try to address the challenges we face in fact I point out the -- cap imbalance in the house was a bipartisan vote there were brave Democrats who went along.
-- us to try to do with the public wants.
So at this point in time I don't know how you can convince the senate or the president to actually do the right thing except to continue to press forward as we're doing in the house.
-- when you're out there on the campaign trail is that's the number one issue what else a potential voters worried about.
Well clearly they're worried about this issue -- but they're also very concerned most importantly about the state of the economy.
They understand that having fourteen million unemployed people over thirty million -- can't trade jobs in a time of rising inflation and declining wages.
Is of the utmost importance to them because it touches and affects directly the hearth -- home every single day.
Right let's talk about the Iowa straw pull big decision came out yesterday about who's gonna be on the ballot your name is going to be there.
How do you plan -- -- and upset Iowa.
Well we don't.
To brutally honest with you and who have been at this for three weeks and obviously we don't of the name recognition about the candidates.
So it's going to be continue to try to get the message out we treat the Iowa's couples the -- that.
Not as a test of organization but as an introduction to see if the message can get traction but I think that that's appropriate way to show respect not only for the process but for the people of Iowa.
-- even mentioning you got in because she felt like you know they get the current field wasn't the best representatives of the GOP and what a candidate can do that's gonna have to go up against President Obama.
What do you bring different to the table.
-- continuing to see it Shannon as your last panel pointed out we have had people spending millions of dollars in spending years -- if not.
Several years running for this office that are 17% -- the -- A vote -- within this within the poll.
We've seen at a very volatile electorate so what I would -- to continue to do was pressed the need for fundamental restructuring of the federal government to mirror our consumer driven economy.
I would like to continue to press.
For the rest restructuring of the banks that were bailed out on Wall Street because you have to get credit flowing down to move this economy forward -- -- like to see the people's republic Communist China treated.
As a strategic threat rival model of governance.
And concern tourists security and prosperity that has yet to be really addressed within this campaign and -- also like to see a fundamental approach.
These sound policy for the overarching war for freedom against terror which has not been a large part of the discussion that we've been having on the campaign trail -- said.
Our congressman Anthony filed GOP presidential contender -- Kyra thanks for spending some time with us.
Thanks for him.
