-- -- Iranian sanctions at this afternoon it was Jon linen closet evangelical Christian.

Well apparently He was a big fan of TV preachers like Pat Roberts and Oral Roberts and Billy Graham.

Other Martin Joseph says Lennon's wife Yoko -- hated his affinity for the state and try to cover and a park dozens piece on foxnews.com explains more.

Just joins me now from Los Angeles.

Welcome.

For the big shocker to youth you know it's really a big -- to hear about that and a half.

How do you know that John Lennon was enamored with with with with Billy Graham and and Pat Roberts and an Oral Roberts.

Well look at Florida it's great for somebody with it's it's it's it's such a bizarre story it's like sort of learning that.

You know Ronald Reagan was a closet Marxist at the end of his life -- it just doesn't make sense in our heads our brains explode.

But a number of biographers have been coming out over the last several years beginning with Steve turner in his book the gospel according to The Beatles.

And they've been sharing correspondence that that John was actually communicating with televangelists.

Like Oral Roberts as early as 1973.

And there -- letters back and forth from John Lennon to Oral Roberts if you can believe that.

And He always had this sort of fascination.

With the with this crowd and so.

And I write in the piece that you know if that's not bad enough sort of foray.

Traditional John Lennon fan then you find out that others have been coming forward his former assistant saying in 1980 He was expressing a fondness for Ronald Reagan.

-- -- telling point that He was inclined to support it.

Yeah again this is you know so.

Three or four of these things that -- -- all through these things came together and the final the sort of the bad sort of bizarre incident was that He had given unify final interview where He said He didn't believe in the theory of evolution.

And that these three together or do you know to me were just these blockbuster revelations and I wondered why we hadn't heard about this over the last thirty years until very recently.

Why is it we haven't heard about this in what your article says that Yoko Ono trying to cover it up.

-- Well.

That's actually my not my assertion but it's what -- biographers have said that I was very unhappy.

-- with these periods in his life and that she sought to sort of make the counter arguments to him.

The -- -- about his religious journey is what appears happened is that He did have a kind of Christian.

Religious experience people call being born again -- -- But then at the very end in his life He He -- He turned against it.

And and began to -- He wrote a song called save yourself in response to Bob Dylan's gotta serve somebody or serve yourself.

So it's kind of a mixed bag that He was really searching.

Converted to christianity and then -- they and the sort of renounced it.

But we whatever it is it's a -- things -- I think we all should hear more about.

This is is very interesting and but what I wanted to note that He how many personal contact with someone like -- Billy Graham I -- certainly John Lennon could have said.

You know called up -- they Billy Graham evangelistic association doing it quietly and secretly decided I'd like to meet Billy Graham did that ever happen.

Well this is again one of the bizarre parts of the stories that He apparently would.

Call into the 700 club hot line you know there's a number you can call in for prayer yeah.

And according to biographer Steve turner very -- little biographer by the -- is written books on The Beatles and Johnny Cash and He called in for prayer about his family so it just sort of -- I imagine John Lennon talking to a prayer counselor on the 700 club hot line.

That is as a Hollywood movie and of itself that sort of been defies you know what our understanding of what we thought John Lennon was.

It would certainly doesn't exist the man who wrote -- The song imagine imagine there's no religion imagine in -- -- -- searching for some kind of peaceful existence and ends and it is it sounds like christianity was just sort of one stop on the road.

Well I think He was always fascinated by.

The faith you know He spent often spend Summers in the Japanese mountain resort town of Curry's -- And missionaries get accounts one wrote an article -- guide posts and eyesight.

Commissioner weren't counted him coming in and asking them questions coming to their church the Karzai union church.

And ask them questions about the divinity of Christ and the hardest thing -- -- the biggest thing He had a problem with.

Was the notion that Christ was divine.

And He would often pampered these missionaries with questions about that any -- here this summer seeking.

And spiritual answers as soon as -- a common occurrence in that town of his interacting with with Christian missionaries from the US.

While it's very fascinating and -- articles on foxnews.com.

-- direct people to back.

You know what -- what's Yoko -- been keeping from us it's very interesting article.

-- Joseph producer author and publisher of bully pulpit dot com Fox -- dot com -- thank you so much for being with us.
