Leaders of both parties may have a deal but now it's up to the rank and file to pass a bill before tomorrow night.
Our next guest is it's Tea Party backed congressman who supports raising.
-- -- -- -- us now from Washington DC freshman congressman from Illinois Adam can zinger BC or CNN is more that great to see a Mormon morning.
-- some look at your resume.
And first of all -- a former air force pilot so -- person would come to mind you mean you've spoken about this before on the show.
He is the defense cuts in battle what would trouble you most in this deal moving forward.
Yeah I'm still up pilot in the Air National Guard it's a commitment I'm able to keep Bob and I'll tell you what.
It is a concern I have -- -- I understand that when you come up with an agreement that it's gonna be one of those things that nobody likes but you know most people can tolerate.
And but I'm very concerned about the future defense -- because at a time when you know are engaged in two different wars -- in -- all around the world and fighting.
Terrorism.
We gotta be very careful where it made the set some of the questions I have today as we really get into this legislation has.
What are the cuts and how seriously how serious are they even before -- -- Saddam yes vote on its Newton.
But no doubt about it congressman there are areas in -- the Pentagon budget that could be trimmed.
Later this is such a gigantic number I mean if if this super committee make some recommendations and they're not acted on then it triggers kicking and and half the Pentagon.
-- -- cuts are gonna come from the Pentagon.
Is just a lot.
Yeah it is a lot I think what happened is that that that automatic triggers are actually set up to be so painful that we don't have to get to that point were making those across the board cuts.
You know so hopefully we can do the work of adults here and really try to get.
To the cuts that we need or send a balanced budget amendment to the states so great but again to really target defenses is.
To me a little worry some I'm not saying this is a bad deal not salmon a vote against it because of but I am -- Myself and I imagine a number of of other congressman had a lot of questions about that that.
I'm sure leadership will be very forward about answering have been very good so far would to be honest and say it's not the best -- in the world but -- -- -- get what what is the deal -- congressman the clock is ticking down what had a piece of Paper.
Have you actually seen.
How much in defense cuts do you believe there are there at this very point in time because we have till tomorrow.
Yeah I now and that's you know the tragic thing is -- a Washington DC what I've learned in seven months -- Washington DC it's a last minute.
-- what I hear is and it may be around a 400 billion dollar cut the we have to get more details on that.
The bill is going to be posted online -- -- was posted online last night.
And dominant look forward to actually reading that and then we got a little bit of a PowerPoint presentation seven paid seven pages which basically outlines the -- of the bill.
-- again it's it's so -- because speaker Boehner and and you know the president were really on these conversations -- finally said all right this hurts for everybody.
But it's something we can afford on something you know again I hope it's something I can support because I think the American people really do want both sides to come together.
Work this thing out and look and we're not -- tax increases.
-- cutting spending at a greater rate than we're raising the debt -- to me.
This is very close to what we set out to do at the very beginning -- -- some people think that the most breaking news.
On Capitol Hill wasn't the discussion of the debt ceiling in the last couple of weeks but the fifty most beautiful people -- I.
A and the snow avionics -- -- -- -- of -- of bright and early but -- looks good this early in the morning.
-- point out that you're number 500.
According to the hill newspaper what does that do to do any thing I know it doesn't bring your self esteem but that does it look -- vote or anything like that.
-- look here's the deal what what's the old saying in politics is like -- Hollywood for ugly people sell it to your Phillies putting yourself on that scale so.
I guess is nice to be recognized but it's kind of funny you.
We'll get to vote in that by the way.
I don't know I'd they -- -- -- their head examined -- in his.
Like -- competition between you and congressman Aaron shock because he's also from Illinois and -- was the guy who is on the cover.
Almost in the -- there.
Keep deputy.
Who He was on the -- cover without any shirt on any competition.
Now you don't Aaron -- -- A really good friends he's eased my neighboring congressmen and He was very helpful on me getting here.
And you know I I could be on the men's health but I would be the before picture setup and He can He can keep all -- Here but we don't know exactly who exactly voted for that and congratulations on that but but before you go fight -- -- we got a candid try to bring you down on on how you gonna vote.
On the debt deal.
Well look gotten the better version one I was support above version two -- obviously voted for.
I'm I'm I'm open to do and and if this is real cuts and and you know we move the ball forward and down the field we can't get a touchdown every pass but if we can move the ball forward.
Then I'll be supported but again those defense cuts or something I've got to look at look at very seriously and and I think later today and I'll read the bill and and I've been briefed a little more and will be able to to move forward to your definitely leaning toward seen yet.
I'm -- towards being an openness and yes I guess that's the best -- to a wedding every colleagues that congressman.
People that I have Tea Party support.
They -- -- -- are moving away what's the consensus.
You know a lot of the same thing there are some that have said I can't do it some that -- set I'm definitely and the most people I've heard -- said look you know we don't wanna have to.
This is so last minute with which isn't good to be in this position anyway that we want to make sure we're gonna do our homework over the short amount of time we probably have.
You know I would even be imposed a very short term debt deal extension while we can -- out but.
I'm not sure if it's gonna move that way but like I think people are cautious cautiously optimistic here I'm cautiously optimistic.
Come again -- move the ball down the field but.
We've -- serious problem and it'll be nice to finally talk once again about creating jobs in this country -- getting people back to work right congressman Adam -- -- From Illinois.
Great to see this morning thanks for -- a partner.
You got so I guess I thought -- --
