Campaign I have found in the democratic leadership council to move the party to the senate.
So I do think that a lot of this is Obama but also the people around him.
He almost all of his appointees are very radical anti business.
Believers in bureaucratic socialism.
That was former house speaker Newt Gingrich dropping the -- word socialist.
And President Obama on the record with Greta Van Susteren last night.
And this is power play thanks very much for sticking around.
And was welcome to Byron York.
Who's the chief political correspondent for the Washington examiner.
Which is partnering with Fox News on Thursday's debate in Ames Iowa and Byron will be one of the -- -- one of the network among those of the hit -- down there waiting to lay it to.
The Republican field the leaders of the Republican field.
Is Newt Gingrich do can we expect from having him heard him talk about the socialists and all of this of the Obama administration he's -- red meat at the debate.
I think it's you know it's kind of time for all -- through -- -- -- a number of them have kind of step back from criticizing each other.
In the past in this debate is about the Republican field it's it's not really about how much how bad -- president.
Barack Obama is definitely agree about are there any differences between you guys so.
My guess is they'll -- prepared to go.
Now you what -- also made a point about the straw poll.
And this is the I was -- Republican Party straw poll takes place two days after the debate.
And is it is a very big deal -- campaign Carl Cameron calls it the first Iowa caucus.
What what is -- what's new strategy as it relates to.
This strategy is to see what happens I.
Ahead on an on Brothers show last night He -- a lot of people are doing a lot of putting a lot of effort into this.
We've determined that we can't really do very much so what will happen is well happens now it's.
Suzanne -- president.
Exactly whatever happens is gonna happen.
Now we've we've been talking a lot about what the stakes are in this debate and and all of those things and this same -- comes up again and again and that is that fort -- -- This is but you were -- kind of moment he's been he's been struggling in the polls ever sense at -- CNN debate.
He declined to smack.
Down Mitt Romney on his Massachusetts mandatory health insurance plan.
And so this is it this is his big moment.
Does that.
Pressure constrain him that it went well I mean He was struggling in the -- before that He -- never he's he's been in -- -- somebody's been taken very seriously about the Republican establishment I mean didn't George Will one times either -- -- Mitch Daniels is going to win the nomination something like yes these these dangers it but He hasn't caught on in the polls and I think.
A lot of political types look back to 2008.
In which Sam Brownback was a candidate and trying hard and made a big effort -- the Ames straw poll.
Fail pretty badly and dropped out of the race so Ames is actually meant the end of the few campaigns.
In the last few cycles.
It's.
It's very unfortunate from Poland his point of view that he's being cast as one of these people who live if He doesn't do well he'll have to get out I'm sure you would never say that but.
He really needs to do.
And we heard attitude to talk about that in the magnitude of this today and what's going on we heard Herman -- yesterday command basically said.
I need to place at least in the top three in the straw poll that's that's building a clip for yourself and it's a it's a growing acknowledgment in this field that there may really only be.
One ticket out of Iowa you know and I mean that.
Mitt Romney is gonna chug along -- well funded He has a national campaign he's not even really competing and Iowa.
He's gone He doesn't need to take it that there may only be one ticket out of this straw poll.
And that and you'll have Michelle Bachmann you'll have.
Plenty came Santorum Gingrich all of these people want to ride.
I personally think there's more than one to get out but Herman Cain.
You know -- Herman -- kind of almost -- -- campaign from the first fox hole I hit rock -- fifth in Greenville, South Carolina.
When you remember Sean Hannity had a folk to focus group Frank Luntz focus group afterwards and it was almost unanimous people -- Herman Cain was a winner that really giving huge boost to change so why he's counting on that happening again the question is He has He make it happening right.
He needs He needs lightning to strike two times okay -- before you've got here we asked the Internet to do its job and come up with some questions that they want you.
To put to the Republican field.
And I like Lisa Richard's question.
And what police things that you should do is see if you can establish unity among the field.
As it relates to any tax hikes that you should play day greater Grover Norquist.
Basically and say there's going to be a tax he'll come up.
Are you all prepared to stand against anything that increases taxes by even -- So have them sign a special Byron York play I don't know that you have to have a -- I tell you you couldn't you couldn't -- scans something I don't know you could go you could go -- -- than that but certainly.
I think -- that your question.
Echoes basically where.
Republicans -- and -- -- talking about -- the first two segments and that is.
They are still leery of any tax deal the idea that there would be any thing on taxes as we see the president sort of lurching towards the concept of -- tax reform package.
The biggest obstacle in the end maybe the fact the Republicans just don't trust them enough to do the deal and they're gonna tell whoever votes across country -- they don't.
Don't go you can't you can't trust.
Also you have to remember that there are only two Republicans in the field Michelle Bachmann and Ron Paul -- have to vote on any of this up.
The rest -- can simply say they would opposes they would oppose that and they don't have to really pay the consequences right now.
It's it's it's a lot easier to run for office if you're not in office.
Its annual list of -- you know when Barack Obama it was an office in 2008.
But all with the whole Iraq War stuff He could say I wasn't here and I have opposed.
It would have been -- we -- we would have taken Saddam out with that with without even a shot fired because I didn't have to vote.
All right folks I'll be with Biron and the whole team next week when gravity games eaten our workshops and seeing who was seen as a stick well -- -- -- -- we're not savages we're -- -- a workshop on -- stick.
But you will be seeing Byron and hopefully he'll be able to join us again when we're out there and now Internet.
As we like to do every day I want to leave you.
With the word from our friend Charles -- but the second more than more important -- is the panic in Europe.
Over the status of Spain and Italy this is not a Greece -- in Ireland which which is.
You know a kindergarten this Italy is too big to -- the eighth largest economy in the world and the worst is the prime minister went on television.
Wednesday everybody expected He -- announce austerity measures He announced nothing.
And declared that the fundamentals are strong and that I think sent a panic.
This is a year of having lived sixty years over its head arm in the entitlement state is running out of money.
You know a disastrous way and I think that was a number one factor.
