Elegant thing you know former Massachusetts governor GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney and by the way you can see him tomorrow night on stage Fox News -- Republican primary debate it's all happening here 9 eastern in Ames Iowa.
Out did you notice the president.
You know guys then -- -- after big business big corporations big oil in other words people like create jobs and produce products.
And and corporate jet owners he's -- jet out -- Martha's Vineyard.
One of the most expensive as you know vacation spots in the country and spend a nice ten days in the middle of all this financial collapse your reaction.
Well you know he's also going to be -- a bus tour going to Michigan and Iowa.
And it's really -- campaign event I'm sure for for the president look look this country's a crisis right now you recognize that lot of people lot of work.
Lot of people fearful about the future.
The did the stock market has been turbulent.
The S&P downgrade this as an Americus credit is not worth what it was worth over our history and and the president ought to be in Washington.
You know I know everybody deserves a vacation but this is a time of crisis the president should be in Washington to be working to get this economy going again and -- should Begin by admitting.
The lot of the things He did in his first two and a half years have not worked.
Have hurt this economy.
He should reversed course -- -- -- like obamacare look obamacare is gonna cost the American people a trillion dollars over this decade and a lot more than that down the road.
And and it has to be it has to be eliminated we simply can't afford more federal spending.
Let me ask you about the downgrade.
S&P warned that this would happen unless they had a deal that saved four trillion dollars.
The for example I don't care it was cut -- and balanced that would have prevented the downgrade.
And they said there was a better than 50% chance this what happens now there's gonna be as senate banking committee investigation into this.
-- -- you know how bad is this what America this is not happened since 1970.
And never happened before in history.
And and they blame the Tea Party whose plans.
To call them terrorists -- you know prevent of the downgrade what's your reaction all the.
There's no question John but that that that the people in this country that are concerned about the growth of government.
Had they been able to have their way in Washington we would not have seen an S&P downgrade.
If if that that the people like myself that said look we gotta cut federal spending we got a cap -- we gotta have a balanced budget.
If we would have been able to be successful in promoting that kind of policy had that John McCain -- president -- and president.
But we would have been able to -- to put forward a plan that convinced.
-- of people around the world that -- creditworthy.
But frankly Washington under President Obama has not had the leadership it needs.
Had to deal with our our economic woes.
Or frankly to deal with our our woes at what government level look it it just it just doesn't make sense for us to continue to spend massively more than -- -- -- as a nation.
We have going around the world right now in London in the UK.
Spain Portugal Greece Israel.
There's a demand for more government and entitlement mentality that is taken over.
It seems that this ought to be a warning to America that while we're headed down this road that this may be our future when you look -- what's happening in this country's.
-- -- -- one -- we could turn on this program or Fox News and find out what's happening around the world and I've been happening here in America.
What's happening around the world.
Hit the -- -- and it breaks your heart to see it happening around the world and and know -- homes and businesses and livelihoods and lives.
Are being lost to I guess in the UK hooligans and and other demonstrators and the protesters and the thugs.
It's it's an outrage.
And and and at a time like this you you hope for a stable leadership and parents -- homes teaching their kids but you're right we've created an entitlement mentality.
That somehow government is gonna take service that that is not the reality.
The reality is that the people of America take care of ourselves we believe and personal responsibility.
And this is this view that somehow we should have government start running our -- tell us what we can do.
Tell us what -- -- health care we can have.
Tell us how much of our own money we get to keep that kind of -- leads to the kind of of violence and entitlement mentality.
That I think is it is at the root of -- A lot of people's a frustration and I look at this though when I look at this video that we're showing I'm thinking.
This is America's future if we don't.
Get a hold of the you know a lot of this is about -- in a lot of these countries about necessary austerity met measures after they spent too much.
And America's now spent -- -- we have a one point 65 trillion dollar deficit this year we spent too much so at some point.
We gotta have the same austerity measures and why would we think we'd have any different result than these other countries.
Well what we get of course have pockets of people who who who responded in ways that are reprehensible.
But by and large the American people are a very patriotic people.
And it and as long as you have leaders who will tell the truth.
And lead with integrity and who know how to lead America and integrity.
And and and and convincingly describe a position and a vision for America of greatness than Americans I think will stand behind that leadership and stand behind our country.
And keep America the great economic and moral engine that has been in the world.
Right now we're not seeing a lot of that kind of leadership in Washington.
I have from the White House governor would see you tomorrow night right here on the Fox News Channel debate -- nine -- thanks for being with us.
Thanks John good to be with you and coming up the riots.
