This is -- and I -- Great to see you and I must -- you have a nice relaxed -- a look at by yourself no student died tonight.
Well we are on the way to these.
Parade was kicks off -- -- tomorrow morning is clock fairground opens I was -- there WHO and that people are eating and having a diamond.
There's going to be a great fair.
I want great time -- I -- but not so -- across the country the Dow hit it went down plunge.
Points essentially wiping out all the recent gains.
Why did it happen and what should we do about it.
Well we -- following policies aren't gonna work they are working.
I think congress should come back in and should pass start by.
Passing the repeal of the Dodd-Frank bill on day one.
Moved truth telling sarbanes Oxley on day two.
Go through as many federal regulations is they can and repeal them in order -- -- state governments local governments businesses.
Focus on doing their jobs.
This economy is crumbling.
Under a bureaucratic socialism.
And which Washington dictates every aspect of life and the result is people aren't hiring and as they don't hire.
Folks are running out of money and I think they're -- to see the economy stay in deep trouble unless there's a very profound change in direction.
Are you -- congress should come back in.
I suggested that that they come back in it right now wait to other end of their -- number one and number two the now resident is about the presence about to go on a nine day vacation in Martha's Vineyard it sounds in what does a ghost town.
Well I I just think.
When you have.
Fourteen million Americans out of work another ten million Americans are either underemployed -- -- given up looking.
And you see the kind of disaster.
In the last fourteen days of trading.
On the Dow Jones average for example you have to ask yourself shouldn't.
The political leadership of the country do something.
I'm I'm respectful of the fact.
That August vacations are sort of sacrosanct but I'm also very aware that if we have three or four more weeks of this kind of decay.
They're not come back in September to a country that is in very very dangerous condition.
Why don't they do that why does the president stand up let me see how and then demand that the speaker -- majority way to do it and why don't they do it themselves if this is so -- urge you look at possibly going on in their minds as to why this is an urgent why -- shouldn't be done now.
You know I think -- a period of -- of denial.
But He again from from the standpoint that you looked at the home mass over the debt ceiling you think yourself.
It should be possible for Americans to come together.
And find a way to do some things I mentioned a couple that don't cost any money.
Repealing Dodd-Frank would actually save money repealing sarbanes Oxley would not cost any money.
-- number of other steps you can take like that.
Cleaning out many of the unnecessary regulations by enforcing the tenth amendment would not cost money.
So little -- you know budget fight they're saturated and I think you -- do overnight.
I've been talking with gentleman named Michael George who.
Helped found lean six sigma which is a management system He believes if you tried to modernize the federal government.
-- save 500.
Billion dollars a year.
That's five trillion dollars over ten years -- I don't sense any appetite in Washington.
First serious thinking about fundamentally doing it differently it's as though everybody says -- Foley -- different outcome now let's go back and do the same stuff that isn't working.
And I think that's tragically unfortunate in both parties I think we need to take a deep breath step back and realize.
That this and work and and it's time for us to try some very different new approaches.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- And perhaps they can fix things or should we be impatient.
And as that simply -- compromise trying to at least get something passed or is that KB and tell me what you think about it.
My -- of all that the congress ought to focus on the economy right now.
Not waited until November not look for some magic second I believe this so called super committee should have all of its meetings in public on C span.
Every proposal should be in writing on the Internet.
I am deeply opposed.
To twelve people becoming a super congress going off and hiding.
And then magically springing a really bad idea honest about Thanksgiving.
Thanks so I'm being told we need to cut off -- right leg going to -- you which one you prefer.
I -- -- I'm fed up with this series of crises.
In which we have politicians come up with a set of bad choices.
And asked us to pick which one we like we dislike least.
I think what we ought to have frankly is the legislative process.
We ought to have the committee's doing their job but -- -- the -- doing their job we ought to hearings -- new ideas new approaches twelve people.
Can't possibly understand.
Trillions and trillions and trillions of dollars and I'm very dubious that we keeps shrinking the circle.
House members -- hundred senators they should all be engaged they should all be helping draft this.
And -- should all be out in the open for the American people but creating jobs and now.
I think comes before you get to that committee.
And congress ought to come back and focus on this economic crisis and pass the kind of things I just described.
If you -- Dodd-Frank.
You would overnight.
Liberate community banks and enable small businesses realtors home builders.
All of them to have a dramatically better future it would do the turnaround would be 2448.
The minute they -- was gonna happen.
You see economic activity picking up.
-- -- watch a big night in Republican politics it is the Iowa debate and of course Fox News is part of this debate -- sponsoring the debate.
Out what's your strategy.
My strategy is to be very clear about solutions.
To focus on solutions now.
To suggest that talking about what I would do in January of 2013.
In a country that has three wars underway this faced with a crisis of the United Nations in September over the recognition unilateral recognition.
Of Palestinian state has faced with a decaying economy.
That'd be nice for the presidential candidates to describe leadership right now.
What should be done right now and I'll focus my effort tomorrow night and -- I'm looking forward to being there.
To focusing on what we need to do right now both in national security and an economics in order to get this country on the right track.
Do you expect that President Obama will be in the main subject and sort of the opponent of all the candidates.
All of the candidates attempt to that contrast and compare each other in the different positions to litigants -- see how anybody is different -- -- -- the same.
I don't know what the other -- who do I'm gonna focus on what America needs to get -- I'm not gonna focus on President Obama I think everybody understands he's failing.
The question is will always succeed.
These things -- to this isn't just partisan politics and isn't just name calling you know that's the question is what is each -- solution.
At a time when America's economy is in desperate trouble.
And I think that we need to have a real focus.
On how we would lead what we would proposed and how we would get things done a positive way.
There's enough negative news in the real world.
-- we don't have to -- to -- negative political news we have to offer I think genuine positive solutions to give people a sense of hope.
-- your debate on the stage it just like you know that that we I'm Greta are gonna have a live chat so that's a warning beware.
I look forward to it mr.
speaker thank you.
Always good to do if you're gonna.
