Welcome back everyone the Indiana state fair set to hold a public memorial service to honor the five people killed in Saturday's tragic stage collapsed before reopening this morning.

This says -- continue to investigate.

Whether the accident could have been prevented.

Joining me now with the latest is Indiana governor Mitch Daniels this morning -- governor.

-- -- I know that this has been -- really tough weekend for you as you're trying to assess how of this tragic event happened I saw you at a press conference where you were.

Just heartbroken at the fact that five people lost their lives.

Yes of course all -- feel that -- today and we we're not unfamiliar.

With whether -- and and how cruel mother nature can be state fair -- agriculture you don't have to tell farmer about how.

Sudden then often damaging the weather in Indiana can be that this was of course specially tragic and and -- will level never forget it.

I know that you've said that you consider -- a fluke.

This wind gust.

That came up and took that whole stage down in just a matter of seconds obviously -- an investigation isn't suing correct.

Sure those are all appropriate questions that every time we have a natural disaster here.

Many -- and we asked questions like that try to learn.

Maybe improve in the future of it.

I am haunted by how.

-- -- it did seem to be just behind me.

Just a couple hundred yards for instance Gretchen from that stage there were Ferris wheels a whole midway was operating.

No damage of any kind of somehow this this wind which was fifteen minutes ahead of the storm.

Was channeled or otherwise concentrated -- just the wrong place -- just the wrong time and that's that's makes it seem so incredibly cruel.

Night I know that some early reports said you're actually there at the concert but in fact it was your wife.

And daughter and I know you the first person you heard from to find out about this was your wife right.

That's right as I said that cherry who had been in the grandstand that would have moved to one of them have buildings that have been opened for.

People who evacuate to him and call me right away.

Our daughter was actually down the very near the stage and fortunately.

Was.

Shaken up but not heard and we're grateful for that that.

The we can't we can't.

Get the folks that were -- out of our mind.

Of course and there will be a ceremony 9 AM.

Indiana time this morning to honor them and of course the -- will reopen but you have told me that there'll be no more concerts or races throughout.

Iteration of the state fair but governor.

Our best we'll -- probably go ahead.

How -- let's say one other thing for those who didn't see it the most.

That's stunning memory will all have of this event was the hundreds that average citizens I mean some had some training.

Nurses and so -- that most did not who rushed.

Not away from the trouble but to the trouble and there have been greater injuries.

If it's not for them and right.

I had just so proud to be the employee.

A state full of people like that.

Right seems to be the American spirit as we move closer to the tenth anniversary of September 11 as well.

We're all thinking about both of those things a governor Mitch Daniels thanks so much for your time this morning.

Expected.
