Hi this election that music and we that we have some brand new polls that show Republican presidential candidates really jousting right now.
For leadership position according to public policy polling.
A democratic leaning poll Texas governor Rick Perry is now leading the field of the GOP contenders at 22%.
He has bested Mitt Romney in this poll who is at 19%.
Congressman Michelle -- comes in at 18%.
Ron Paul is in at 16%.
In that mix a spring and -- bravest the chairman of the Republican National Committee writes welcome.
Always good to have you it -- good morning.
Hey good morning to you thank you.
Talked a little bit about your reaction -- that -- and the fact that Harry who has only been in this race for a very short time is now the number one spot.
Well you know I.
I think you're gonna see these polls all over the place and I think that it's I think it's good for our party I think that the more.
That we have these candidates out talking to the people of this country in Iowa New Hampshire South Carolina.
The better I mean it's earned media it's getting on television's getting in and newsprint it's getting too.
Backyards across America making the case.
That this president's been a disaster for this economy.
And and and all with their own take on how they can improve things I think is a good thing for a party might take on the polling is that.
We're going to be talking about pulling for a long time and the fact that we're talking about all of this and who's ahead and -- not.
I think is just great for the Republicans in beating Barack Obama.
I let's a look at the Ron Paul -- -- -- really interesting Ron Paul head to head with President Obama.
He he's only -- this is -- nationwide poll he's only it lagging the president by two percentage points.
We've spoken to mr.
-- several times -- -- in America's Newsroom.
Do you think that He is you know not getting a fair shake prefer the way that he's presenting in these polls is He not being treated.
You know equally with these other candidates out there by the media.
Well.
I mean I think they're candidates have to jockey for themselves a little bit as well I think that he's getting a fair shake but I but I also think that it spells good news for Ron Paul and that.
These -- you know these issues in on Ron Paul's been championing.
These issues in regard to our spending and our debt and the -- and and you know in the fact that these issues are mainstream conversations now that we're having a dinner tables across America.
I think that's a good thing and I think that Ron Paul should be credited for a lot of these these things and you know -- -- it all goes back to our economy and I think.
These polls that show all of our candidates within striking distance of the president.
All go back to the fact that Americans are not happy with the direction of Barack Obama has taken this country that's what this is talents and Americans.
A process.
Country in that there's a piece this morning in Politico that talks about fundraising and it says that even despite the fact that.
The House of Representatives is dominated by eight Republicans now one unnamed sources and that pieces that he's shocked.
That Republican fund raising is 24 million dollars behind.
The democratic committees at this point and it and yet that a responsibility to a certain extent falls on your -- it does it not.
Well.
I mean to a certain extent it falls on all of our shoulders but of their reality is when you have a president.
That is the campaigner in chief any transfer is in you know multiple millions of dollars into the DNC if you take out Obama's transfers -- doing better than the DNC in fact than.
And just this last month I think we were 800000 dollars behind the DNC overall.
But Obama transferred 2.2 million dollars.
Into the DNC would have been well ahead of them -- mean when you have the White House and have a president biggest fund raisers every single night.
And this collecting one and two -- three million dollars at a pop.
You know that's hard to compete with so I think the fact that a matter is is that in spite of the democrats' money you look at the polling.
We're doing very well and I think that -- gonna go down a man.
How much much -- I lost my touchy about debt and ended up living far we thank you for being here today -- -- could attack just there many thanks and thanks for talking with little white.
