Personal story segment tonight Tea Party political figure Christine -- up.
May remember that you lost your bid for senate seat in Delaware and got hammered by the liberal media in the process.
Now she has written a new book called troublemaker.
Let's do what it takes to make America great again.
So Donald joins us now from Miami.
So looking back what was the biggest mistake you think you made in that campaign.
Well several of them but I think the biggest mistake was that stupid ads.
And the reason why -- with -- painstaking detail is because there's a lesson this whole middle class movement that is propelling the Tea Party.
Is is fueled by the instincts and the passion and -- got up every day Americans have never been involved in the political process before and here I was.
I won the primary because of that.
And then on the other side of the primary day I listened to the experts.
Didn't have confidence in my own in my own gut instincts and went with that stupid -- which everything in -- -- that it was wrong.
So I'm hoping that you know a wise man learns from his or her mistakes and even -- learns from the mistakes of others.
Okay let's run that as everybody knows what you're talking about go.
I'm -- I'm -- always.
I'm nothing you've heard and I knew.
None of us are perfect.
But none of us can be happy with what we see all around us and I'll go to Washington.
And do what you do.
You know -- -- at that now I don't think that's so bad the guy designed it Fred Davis you campaign hired.
To do to me this kind of media stuff and the which deal came out of some kind of the interview you gave like ten years ago to Bill Maher on his -- show.
The right -- you came across as a woman is saying look this is ridiculous I'm just like you are now wanted to make things better.
But you thought that that was.
A detriment to what -- wanted to do.
It was the opening line the opening line overshadowed the message of the whole campaign.
And I knew that going into it but you know -- I think that it it it exploded to the level -- dead because when your political opponent doesn't have a platform to stand on they resort to the politics.
Look at I had every media person in a war all helping this guy this guy who own and no doubt about that threat of the guys did this Fred Davis did you economy intimate in your book I had a -- -- quickly so maybe I get the message properly that He did it on purpose He leaked it to the media on.
Purposes that we -- that we inside -- seeing dead people I don't.
I don't know if He did that somebody leaked it before I sign and I respect Fred Davis He usually does -- -- arguably the economic sabotage then in your campaign by somebody leaked out to the media before it went -- on TV.
It leaks there it I made it very clear after we produced the -- that I.
You really want it to go I didn't want that one to be our first -- yeah and then all the sudden it became.
It's on the -- and everybody's looking at it.
Let's -- -- sitting -- and -- and it's it's a lesson to all politicians and people in a public direct.
People can betray you and people can do nasty things and -- -- Now you also write about Karl Rove one of -- up political analysts here.
Who didn't really I think that you were qualified to be a senator and kind of said that and that hurt your campaign as well.
Well the interesting thing is before the primary He came to Delaware and met with all the Tea Party leaders in Delaware saying whoever wins we've got to unite and and yet when it came time to listen to his own advice He just what it.
And I've recently extended the olive branch to Karl Rove because in order to make Barack Obama 01 term presidency we've got to unite.
But he's continuing.
To bass the Tea Party and I just don't get it all I can think is that.
Maybe He does really think that compromising is the only way Republicans can win -- -- little ice and.
They put his point -- his point of view and anyhow -- time to response from what I get from Karl Rove because he's on -- program every week.
Is that He believes that there are some people who are competitive against the machine like Barack Obama is that some people who just don't have the experience.
It's about experience.
And that role and other establishment Republicans want really experienced people nothing -- person on I don't think it's anti Tea Party.
Well that's why that's why I wrote the book so that people can understand that I was qualified and they can know who I am.
But Karl Rove continued to put out misinformation.
About me -- about my background even though we gave them the information.
But the other thing about it is I was ahead in the polls before the Republican infighting I was leading against the democratic.
My own party turned on me and CNN exit polling shows that.
Cassel wouldn't -- one -- so if we had united if we've been able to duplicate what they did in Kentucky where the establishment got behind the Tea Party candidate.
It might have been a different outcome but I'm still very proud because we put the political process back into the hands of the people.
Wearing -- people have never been involved before there's a mindset with so many that.
I'm not smart enough for I'm not rich enough as if the political process only belongs to the ruling elite and I think that's with this whole.
Tea Party movement is beautifully -- -- ms.
O'Donnell -- book is troublemaker and we appreciate you coming on the program tonight.
