-- back everybody America certainly is asking a lot of questions of our next guest Republican presidential candidate and former -- -- governor Jon Huntsman is sticking around to take your questions we have some good ones governor.
I you're just talking about the economy being the number one priority.
-- Peter has this question for you He says would be better for the economy right now cut regulations.
Or reform the tax code.
I think you have to do both of them together but -- hasn't actually you both of them together that's accused -- -- for an excuse -- says yet the -- -- -- -- question you know if if if we could just repeal obamacare and dot frank.
That would send -- signal to the marketplace that would give confidence to the investors in the employers and the small businesses to move forward and carry on so I had have to say.
Regulation would be my guess in that case.
They're attacked you gotta you gotta ask the question -- viewers and -- you know Steve as a question about taxes out.
He -- would you support a national sales tax.
You know I've I've looked at a national sales tax I think there's a lot of merit to it but what I'm talking about really is a reflection of what I did as governor.
We created something that was a very close to a flat tax we phased out all the deductions all the loopholes.
The corporate welfare all the cobwebs we got almost all of them out.
But what I'm calling for in our tax our our nation's tax code is just cleaning up the cobwebs and using that to lower the rate broaden the base.
I think it be fair for everybody but more importantly it would get us in the game from a 21 century competitiveness standpoint.
So I'm somebody who's not speaking in terms of academic theory here I've been through tax reform in my own state unlike any of the other candidates in the race.
I know how it's done it took us two years to get there.
And it's exactly what this nation needs to be doing right.
Now staring at the cobwebs an interesting what way to put it -- a great question from TC and the question I think we forget as -- move along the campaign trail.
He wants to know mr.
Huntsman why.
Do you want to be president.
I love this country.
I think it is absolutely unacceptable -- for the first time in the history of the greatest country that ever was.
We're passing on the United States of America for the next generation I'm raising seven kids I -- this all the time we're passing on to the younger generation of country less good.
Less competitive less productive saddled with debt.
For the first time in history unlike any other generation we always pass upward in terms of our hopes and aspirations and our national standards.
And for the first time we're passing down word.
And for me that is the greatest motivate or a fall and that should get every single person out of their seat.
Around the 2012 election cycle particularly the younger generation when they understand this cancer called debt that is eating away at -- court that they're about to inherit.
They should be absolutely -- I mean they're getting the shaft the younger generation or get the shaft out of this deal.
And they above all ought to be rattling around the 2012 election realizing.
That in the Republican Party and and free market principles we have the solutions to start taking the steps necessary.
To get this economy moving again and get jobs created.
While we appreciate you taking our questions from our viewers that are of all ages.
And I know they really appreciated you say you feel as old as time but I understand they give a very important birthday -- -- member of your family this -- and then He gets.
-- on.
That they should the greatest human being I've ever known my wife Mary -- -- -- 28 years she is turning fifty years old tomorrow.
And I wish her happy birthday I love her dearly she is from Florida and here we sit in Florida campaigning even through her birth -- -- Wow well.
-- that's a very special birthday wish and you know it's it's nice to know -- more about a candidate Stanley as well because all of this -- that picture.
Who might be the next president of the United States are so we appreciate you taking the time to cover -- -- top -- so that's and we look for to have you back time.
That you're terrific -- -- thank you very much thank you.
