Out of the 2012 GOP race -- former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty is not sitting on the sidelines.

And He joins us now from sort South Carolina with an exclusive announcement just for FOX & Friends good morning to you governor.

Good morning Gretchen were so pleased that you would choose our forum to make your big announcement we know you're out of the race you're not getting back in -- you.

No that's not the big announcement and by -- just first add my thoughts and prayers to the victims in the family members and others who were impacted by September 11 2001 I know our nation has been.

Understandably focused on -- and I just wanted to add my voice and expression of concern and support and -- to all those who are.

Directly and indirectly impacted by that horrific set of events absolutely -- right now let's move on to the news -- -- -- And you want -- saying.

What.

But I want to say is this.

I know all the candidates in the race for president in 2012 I know them I respect them.

But the next president is gonna have to lead on the economy and jobs and historic way.

There's one candidate in this race who is unmatched in his skills and experience and talent.

When it comes to turning around this economy and growing jobs.

And that's Mitt Romney and I'm proud and excited to endorse him for president of United States.

I believe he's going to be our party's nominee and I think he's going to be a transformational in great president for this country.

Barack Obama's policies is to have failed.

Mitt Romney can turn this country around because he's a turnaround.

Person who's done a great success when it comes to growing jobs and the economy I know I can tell like well when you're on -- stage together and since she campaigned against each other before.

I -- tell is a real respect mutual respect between two.

But I was not a surprise and I saw the carnage gonna make this announcement because I remember when you said all bomb the care is going to be -- and overcome.

Governor I know you thought long and hard about that.

Have to ready come to grips with that.

Well pretty easily actually -- -- -- about this at some length and look for Republican primary voters one of their main concerns is the repeal of obamacare.

And that Mitt Romney is a 100% dedicated and committed to repealing obamacare He is set on day one and when he's president.

He's gonna issue executive orders that will give states waivers from Obama care and then he'll take the additional steps to repeal it.

He understands and believes and has asserted himself while was right for states to take different approaches that it was wrong for President Obama.

To try to bring that to a national plan and Mitt Romney's committed to repealing it and I'd like to know and trust that that's what he'll do yeah I know that you will be now his national co chair.

So that's a big role for you does that mean that you are taking yourself out of the running for VP.

Yeah I'm not gonna consider being VP I was down that path once before with that John McCain and I'm not even gonna consider that some and I do what I can to help -- in this race.

But that won't be part of the future for me -- Dick Cheney said that.

-- -- -- -- About this team in the fact that you are now on the throw your weight behind Mitt Romney.

Obviously when people go to the polls next here that it's gonna be all about jobs when you look at them -- big governors out there right now who created a lot of jobs Jon Huntsman said at the debate last time.

As governor He created the most jobs when you look at.

Governor Perry over the last couple years I think Texas has produced stuff like 40% of the jobs over the last couple years things.

In the country yes but I think -- -- the distinguishing factor for governor around and again I know these candidates I respect them.

But uniquely Mitt Romney in this race has a depth and scope of private sector experience as an entrepreneur or as somebody who's invested in started in grown businesses and importantly I've grown jobs and so that is a unique perspective.

And his leadership ability with respect to the Olympics of course as governor.

Is really the complete package but He his experience in the private sector.

Amongst these candidates is.

Unmatched one thing I need to ask you before you run a governor is that during the last debate.

Governor Rick Perry many people -- He stumbled with his Social Security answered the question many other people thought that it was a brilliant answer because He was telling the truth.

That in fact He believes Social Security is a Ponzi scheme.

He has now written an op Ed this morning.

Where He says I'm going to be honest with the American people the first step to fixing a problem is honestly admitting there is a problem.

Do you think that He made a mistake in his description of Social Security or -- the guiding you are now the co chair for give the right answer.

Well Gretchen I haven't seen the -- -- that governor Perry wrote in that you're referencing that I know this.

Governor Romney wants to fix Social Security doesn't -- -- abolish it -- and that He doesn't believe it should be.

Thrown out He needs that He believes it should be reformed and fixed I think that's the right approach.

I think most Americans most Republicans understand that we're gonna need Social Security in a reformed and improve fashion going forward.

That's what Mitt Romney supports that's what I support as well and in fact that's one of the things -- -- -- in the up headed goal is to fix it make a -- long term.
