Former speaker of the house Newt Gingrich joins -- good -- mr.

speaker.

Good evening.

I don't He wasn't too I'm CNN's -- I have -- -- interview I just had -- -- -- we just had with governor pay on but I I gave your shout out -- the only one who mentions -- waste.

Which is a big thing with -- is it's billions I quit but I'm curious if when two questions of -- and others talking about it and to what did you do when you're speaking about certain congress -- about waist.

Well first I don't know was on talking and I do want to say by the way that.

Governor Palin's speech in Iowa last weekend on crony capitalism.

And on the problems of both parties.

There's a very very important speech I'm gonna be tweeting a link to it.

I'm also going to be as lot of things -- I think it was one of maybe one of the most important speeches she's ever given.

And I think it -- series a very profound questions.

That all of us democratic and Republican have to wrestle with the citizens.

And she did it very well it's very very impressive speech I don't really -- when I was speaker we all series of efforts.

The funniest one -- Champaign in 1996.

Carrying an ice bucket.

Because -- -- things we did is we used to have.

People who literally would deliver high -- to every committee office and every congressional office and we abolish those jobs.

And suggested that refrigerators have been invented.

-- almost a hundred years earlier.

And that's probably you could get ice without having a person bring up -- -- by every morning.

And it was I know sounds crazy but it was a multi 100000 dollars savings -- back then in the house budget was real money.

We also totally overhauled the management of the house we totally overhauled.

The way in which the police department function.

We eliminated number of smaller committees.

And we worked very hard to to bring the congressional budget down as part of a general effort to move to a balanced budget.

And I think that we did in fact yeah.

If you look at reforms and welfare reform -- -- -- -- -- people won back to oracle went to school and we ended up saving hundreds of billions of dollars.

I know one of the questions that -- -- -- this illusion.

This debate so.

You know I'm sure that day ahead of another hour whatever then got his let me ask you that now there's an emerging crisis in the Middle East with Israel -- embassy was stormed over the weekend in Cairo they've got -- There and there are investor was thrown out of Turkey because of the day in the fight this -- to having over that that raid on that Turkish ship that was headed for Gaza.

And of course you've got that we've got the problems with with other countries seven with Israel and there are good friends but things are heating up.

Lot of is there anything you would be yell -- me and the one thing is that the Palestinians -- -- seek statehood from the UN next week out.

What would you do if you're pressing United States about Israel right now and -- it as serious as I think it is tonight.

-- extraordinarily serious a Turkish government has begun moving towards.

And more and more radical position remember the -- are angry Turkish government's angry because even the United Nations.

Found that there plus -- Gaza last year was wrong.

And that they were violating the rules and the Turks are really angry in general there's a prior it has -- -- front -- what they're taking it out on Israel they're threatening to use Turkish warships.

-- a scored a flotilla to Gaza that would be an extraordinarily dangerous thing.

Me I'm the leader of church is also saying that he'll go to Gaza himself that would be a very dangerous -- president.

In Egypt you have crowd control.

And very very dangerous circumstances.

Dramatically rising anti Israeli feeling.

I think you have to recognize that the region is very very dangerous.

I would take a very hard line.

I think that -- -- -- Ileana ros Lehtinen is correct.

The chair -- international relations committee she has a bill in which would cut off all US funding the United Nations for any party UN which recognized the Palestinian state.

That's -- secretary James Baker recommended back in 1989 and the first Bush Administration I think we have to drive take a very strong line I would move the embassy from Tel Aviv.

To Jerusalem as a signal the we have Soledad Israel but I'll also say the -- the we are not going do.

Tolerate Turkish warships.

Escorting a flotilla.

And flouting the United Nations agreement.

Two guys and.

What about though coming Kyra as another element to this because women storming the embassy in in Cairo over the weekend and -- would of course Mubarak who had battle was it as -- -- one gets with Israel from agent we and that's a very that's a very fluid situation what would you do about that.

Well I think we have we should be actively trying to help.

They Egyptian military retain control the situation people talk about this -- spring as -- it's all positive there's an enormous amount.

Of hatred that has been bottled up and suppressed by people like Mubarak and they have been sitting on top of potential volcano.

That volcano is starting to explode.

No one has any idea where this is going in the last few weeks.

The egyptians have allowed a number of terrorists across a cyanide for the first time really assists -- and and back in 1978.

And you now have really dangerous environment beginning to be created.

And one in which I think you could see things spiral and a very bad way in the near future.

Right what question wasn't asked tonight at the entire -- they think that you know that was mr.

should be -- next time is there -- -- some really good question that we're messing.

But I think being the emphasis on what should we do right now president Obama's speech was so pathetic.

His proposals are so political.

That we have to confront how weak this economy is how dangerous it is and the fact that if you get much worse.

And I think that any of these debates -- -- have a very substantial section on what would you do right now what do you encourage the congress to do right now.

What what is it that we should be doing.

Just because we're in danger of of sliding from nine.

To twelve or thirteen or 14%.

Former labor secretary Robert Reich -- comments this morning Bill Clinton's secretary of labor.

Warning that you could see a dramatic increase in unemployment is something which should sober every American and make us want the congress to take action despite the president.

And force the president -- a series of choices to either pass things in a great job as part of veto them improve -- Deeply committed He -- to being a one term president.

This -- biggest thank you sir.
