So those numbers this morning that -- Texas governor Rick Perry gaining popularity among Republicans from the folks at Gallup.
Perry scores a positive intensity score.
Up -- pull 24% among his fellow candidates Perry's biggest competition right now the former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney who gained in this survey by the way.
You see Herman Cain to Giuliani three Romney for there here's what Romney says about Rick Perry last night -- -- Reilly factor.
We're big guys both Rick Perry and may.
We understand that now that -- step but each other's toes look look at us we're all -- after one another when this is all over well all come together and support whoever the nominee is.
You the other -- are there ever any points of friction between us of course.
That that's the nature of being in a political battle.
And yet we all agree that one of us -- got to replace Barack Obama and that He would be an absolute disaster to be president.
For another five years it has so Bobby -- governor of Louisiana he's -- Perry supporter live in Baton Rouge governor good morning to you and thank you for your time.
-- In morning bill thank you for having me -- why Rick Perry.
You know for made this election is about one issue primarily it's about jobs getting the economy growing again.
Unfortunately got a president pres Obama believes the way to do that is to raise taxes spend more of our money borrow more money.
-- -- proposed stimulus part to even when the first stimulus didn't work.
Didn't keep unemployment below 8% like you promised hasn't proposed how He wants to eliminate the fourteen trillion dollar debt.
You contrast that would governor Rick Perry has a governor of Texas the last two years they've traded nearly half the jobs created in this country.
He understands we've got to cut regulations cut taxes control government spending.
Fundamentally Rick Perry governor Perry understands.
Good that for the federal government doesn't create jobs that would that the federal government spends our money when it creates new government jobs it actually cost taxpayers.
-- understands the private sector creates jobs.
He's not just talking the talk he's actually walked.
Who want our -- and let's talk a little bit about that -- you're his guest Monday night that debate Tampa Florida.
This whole issue about Social Security whether it's a Ponzi scheme or are are not.
It is that clouding the issue or is that important right now.
I think -- I think it's a very important -- richt deserves a lot of credit for being brave enough to say what we all know bit our leaders have been too afraid to tell us that Social Security needs to be preserved for those that are -- retirement that are nearing retirement.
He needs to be approved for younger workers the reality is last year for the first time since the early 1980s Social Security spent more than it took in.
There that's gonna continue to happen for the next foreseeable future the next several years.
And -- estimates are that by the time I get to retirement age the trust fund won't be there anymore the reality is it's not on a sustainable path.
Rick has had the courage to say what Paul Ryan and others have said which is we've got to improve and reform these entitlement parliament but -- -- -- -- has.
Let me back -- a little bit apologize about the interruption here but but let me just a little more clear about this as a Social Security is very important there -- millions and millions of Americans who live -- every month.
Some sixty million American -- fitness -- some form of Social Security check.
But we think about jobs and the economy.
Health Care Reform.
Are those issues what should be debated right now and they should be making headlines and not -- -- -- in other words is this whole -- a distraction the moment.
For what could be bigger topics.
Well I clearly think jobs and the economy the number one issue and that's why I'm supporting -- in that you've got pres Obama who who.
Never has run anything and so He was elected president governor Perry has managed.
Not only as governor of Texas they have it now -- our economy -- the second largest in the country why is governor.
Passing New York we're going back to Social Security.
One of the things the federal government can -- in addition to cutting spending.
Not raising our taxes cutting regulations is to show the American people that there is a real plan to balance the budget.
Without raising our taxes part of that solution is to show they've got a plane and deal with entitlement cost.
Part of that is showing the American people the president's got to show the American people Social Security will continue to be there for them but right now under its current path.
It's not -- have the money -- to meet its bottom.
Your quick questions here that I've got to run do you see that Perry Romney match up going the way of Obama Clinton no way where it's dragged out for -- season.
Like -- and who knows what that is gonna happen between all the debates and -- -- that to the pundits to predict.
How long that this is gonna take the bottom line is I think it is healthy and good for Republican voters and others to see the debates to see a contest.
For too many years it's been said that Republicans just take turns when we nominate our presidential nominee.
I think it's a healthy thing you've got this clash of ideas and debates and -- to offer detailed policy plans and don't take -- long as it -- I think that is understand the party and good for American -- what do you think about what happened in New York district nine last -- -- -- when He -- what does that say what are.
What a great victory democratic -- bad democratic seat for decades Geraldine Ferraro say Chuck Schumer seat now our Republican seat it -- -- even though the most democratic one of the most democratic districts or most democratic states.
Voters are saying enough to President Clinton.
It's the economy is the number one issue the reality is He still wants to spend borrow more.
Unemployment above 9% this shows voters -- saying enough is enough for Bobby jingle thank you.
They'll be a stranger -- -- what we're calling you again and back what we're gonna back OK thank thank you.
