-- -- -- That was President Obama looking for a little love down in North Carolina.
And this is power play -- Chris -- well thanks very much for being with us today.
And we are very lucky today because.
We have the congresswoman who represents the district.
Down in Raleigh, North Carolina where President Obama -- on his quest to sell his stimulus plan congresswoman Renee -- congress on how we doing today.
I'm doing great and you know I guess the president's out there looking for a little love then you know you can find in North Carolina one way or another so.
What you mean by that does -- get a final that.
Yeah hey that's simply and we are North Carolina there's always gonna be love this air but I don't know that there's so much love for his policy in his plan because it's -- And the people of North Carolina understand that.
They know what needs to be done our business owners have told us repeatedly.
You've got to get regulation out of our way you've got to cut spending and you've got to keep our taxes low.
And then we can grow and we can turn this economy around and that's -- -- trying to -- So let congress know that -- freshman.
-- -- And the president shows your district to go you unseated a long time blue dog kind of Democrat.
Are you feeling pressure is the president goes out on the trail to talk about.
A do nothing congress and saying that Republicans are impeding him from helping get the nation back to work.
Well you know it did this story that He portrays it is actually just that it's fiction.
And basically what he's saying is that we're not the ones coming to the table.
We have been working on these issues and since January.
We have passed legislation after legislation pass it onto the senate.
Cutting spending cutting regulation.
Doing all the things that we need to do with energy independence we -- bills that then open up drilling an open -- leases and permits.
These are all job creators.
And now the president coming to us from September and bringing -- the plan which I was very excited that he's finally came to the table on that.
This you know this is what he's saying now -- saying we're not working with him.
He has not worked with -- this senate has not worked with we've done our job in the house we are ready to move forward.
He has got to put aside these.
Policy sales initiative.
They aren't gonna work today they didn't work in the past and they're not gonna work in the future is just more government spending and -- as I sent the people of North Carolina understanding of there is no enthusiasm for what the president is putting forward right now because every one knows it's a failure.
Now I Kyra -- house speaker John Boehner today is gonna come out.
And start to sketch out what the Republican rejoinder to the president's stimulus plan is gonna big.
It's expected that it will include barks the president's initiative.
As they relate to continuing and -- expanding.
Some targeted tax credits.
And tax cuts and a temporary basis.
People's payroll taxes and on the payroll taxes that employers -- is that something that you can support.
You know and then there is room for us to negotiate on these issues we -- is a place for us to come to the table and agree upon.
You know some of the -- closing tax loopholes and many people say -- are all issues that we can agree upon.
You know but the but the fact of the matter is if we're going to be talking about increasing taxes that in this -- -- game changer that's not gonna go anywhere in the House of Representatives.
Now where -- Obermeyer.
And there what you're talking about is the president.
Has put out and if you if -- you bear with me here Internet as I try to explain that's what the president has closed is that the -- committee the twelve members super committee Democrats and Republicans charged with finding.
One point five trillion dollars in future deficit reductions.
The most recent increase to the debt ceiling.
He wants them to get to two trillion herself in order for him to do that and now He says if they don't get there He wants a tax increase to -- this plan do I have that about right.
I think you do I think that's the basis so Bob what the president is talking about in of course we're you know we're waiting to find out from let you know -- let the super committee is putting together.
But the fact of the matter remains that we have been against tax increases since the beginning.
We have held strong on it.
It is an issue that the president has not been able to get through.
The Republican conference has been so wrong on this issue -- because it's what our business owners have told us -- city and you raise our -- I will have to fire employees at the bottom line and the last thing we need right now.
Our jobs lost we need job gains we need everything we can do to put certainty back into the marketplace for our private sector.
So that they can do exactly what they want to do which is higher.
They want regulations cut.
The pres hey that's another negotiation area -- that we can work on.
The president mentioned regulation -- there's much more that needs to be done there I think -- identified about 500.
I think you can add a couple thousand on the air and then will be happy.
Right now moving to a different topic congresswoman.
There is at a fight.
Brewing in congress over the question of how to deal with supplemental funds for the Federal Emergency Management Agency as it relates to recent.
Some of which have affected your state.
-- do you do you agree with those who say that it's necessary it to find the money to compensate for that from other parts you need offsetting cuts elsewhere in federal spending.
To supplement FEMA funds.
We -- interestingly enough this is another one of those areas where the house is actually acted months ago.
And pass legislation that and another billion dollars out of the ability of -- budget.
-- -- -- And it sits in the senate Harry Reid have not voted on it.
Still you know now we have a billion dollars it could be available to see mom if if they need and it's.
And and another cry for help you know we will have to find on cuts somewhere else has to find it over and above that amount.
So here we are sitting with.
The possibility of a billion dollars being utilized.
In much needed areas North Carolina was hit very hard with tornadoes in the spring of course hurricane Irene coming through very very recently.
And there's always the possibility of more disasters that -- always be disasters.
We have got to be prepared that this is exactly why.
Washington got to be fiscally responsible because we know these things are going to -- -- we have to be able to be ready for them and not make ourselves even more vulnerable.
Okay final question congresswoman.
And as you look at the field for president in your party is it shaping up.
Are you satisfied with what's on offer and it is one candidate please you more than another.
We know I'm -- hey I'm watching the debates I'm listening to the conversations I'm excited.
That that things are starting to come out now a little bit more you know within the governor Perry got in the race I think that's that's -- some things.
I like what I'm seeing -- -- I mean there's always -- possibility that someone else can get in the race and you know some gonna come -- sign it and eventually.
And be the one -- I won't have my full support behind that person.
And will move forward to 2012 because that is where the solution -- us.
-- congresswoman and -- thank you so much for making time for -- have a great dad great thank you press.
Okay Internet you just heard the congresswoman saying it and now it's up to you you've got to go to YouTube dot com.
Back slash Fox News and submit your video question for the debate that we're gonna hold on September 22 down in Orlando Florida it's going to be no Mickey Mouse to -- it's gonna -- Iraq aside from a -- I promise you -- get your question and the part of the discussion okay when we come back.
After the next break we're gonna talk about that race who's winning who's losing and what it means for 2012.
