Meantime there's growing concern over the half a billion dollars in federal loans stimulus money for failed Green energy company -- -- A company that went belly up there are reports that the executives for that firm will plead the fifth during hearings this week.
So what does all these investigations Utah Republican Jason shape it's.
Member of the house committee on oversight and government reform welcome back here to America's news' good morning to you.
Expelled from aren't -- your committee take up this issue.
Absolutely -- cliff Stearns and energy and commerce have done a good job of uncovering this.
The oversight gummery -- committee -- -- -- myself and others were very concerned about the systemic challenges the potential.
Undue influences coming out -- the White House above and beyond this one specific case we gotta remember their fourteen pending applications that are similar this.
Worth nearly nine billion dollars that are still pending that will get somehow dealt with before the end of the month before the end of the fiscal year.
So there's a lot to look at here in terms of what is that in White House doing and is -- inappropriate -- influence on where this money go you're saying there -- nine billion dollars in stimulus money that one out to.
The various companies.
Well potentially they're fourteen applications that are still out this would be very similar loan type of guarantees that still -- to reveal itself.
We're looking not only at this -- -- -- also and at some other cases and and you know diving into that -- -- -- -- to look like he's white says that right cylinders -- solar energy company we talk about that another start up.
A wireless startup called white square there -- questions about that company to.
How many more companies are out there -- Well we don't know and that's a trail that we will continue to pursue.
This White House playing from the very beginning with can be one of the most transparent that is not true they have continue to rebuff.
The energy and commerce issued a subpoena trying to get documents about the -- Those have been rebuffed so I don't think we've seen all the documents that we haven't seen all the emails that we need to -- from within the White House.
And we'll just continue to press from these and and make sure that the Department of Justice the White House.
Are actually complying with these requests now to that point house Republicans and said that there are emails that show the White House.
Pressured the Department of Energy to expedite these loans.
Now have you seen those emails.
I specifically have not but we have people on the energy and commerce -- and others that have been diving into that.
We're also looking into what are not the loan guarantees that some of this undue influence.
Where you have people who are going to testify before congress and there's been a suggestion we haven't documented is that suggested.
-- perhaps that testimony was trying to be manipulated by the White House.
Was a very serious allegations and something that a committee like oversight committee is supposed to dive answer why they certainly are big issues the executives from slender -- may not testify.
Can you get to the bottom of this if they don't.
I hope so I I mean what we're looking for is the Paper trail.
My understanding is there wasn't a prior agreement that these people were gonna testify but it is their constitutional right to plead the fifth.
In in this case what we're trying to do is on earth what was happening in the White House.
What influence how many people were going in and out what sort of meetings are happening what sort of emails were -- through.
We haven't seen all those documents yet but from cylinder the company is confident that the investigation will clarify the facts surrounding the events.
Leading to -- guaranteed -- a -- and looks forward there -- time.
When -- executives can more freely discussed her views on these events that they may not talk this week.
What you want to know is whether or not favorable loans were granted to certain American companies based on political donations.
Is that we are after can you prove that's it.
That's one of the things we don't know all we wanna do is have the truth surface all we're looking for the document the openness and transparency -- Brock a prop Obama promised when He came and office.
That's our goal as well what we're gonna deal with this specific case -- make -- these things don't happen again that's just good government and something.
We should be pursuing it's something -- you get support from the Democrats as well on but.
I recognize the -- the political nature of this of the volatility.
We just want the openness the the waste fraud abuse to be fair to -- that's currently Jason Shaffer thank you for your time or looking for a fictional -- from the White House -- the -- today.
They say nothing's wrong here nothing's admissible follow where this goes in Washington thank you again here's mark thanks.
