A busy week of last week in Washington and the house -- passed their bill.
And we were hoping for no government shutdown -- here we are again I'm wondering when we're gonna have to raise the debt ceiling to.
I'm being facetious but who knows because the democrats' plan would require spending of money that we may not necessarily happen is that true.
Well it's gonna be either a very sort weak or very long week here on Capitol Hill with the another potential government shutdown looming.
The senate has that are the key vote tonight at around 530.
On -- gonna try to remain to this house passed bill that.
I would continue government funding after September 30 and also provide.
-- disaster aid for the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
If Harry Reid is successful and the senate does pass an amendment to the house bill.
Then the house out of 435.
Lawmakers who have left town may have to come back.
To deal with -- -- -- the bill fails in the senate than Harry Reid the majority leader might be might have to.
Might be forced to take back up to the house perhaps they'll pass that through the senate.
And back it all happen tonight and this threat could be over.
-- mention was made it on Friday that congress recess.
For the weekend everybody went home.
And and I I wonder how how you feel or or what the -- might be about whether or not they should have stayed and worked over the weekend.
Well that's a good question.
There was a lot of urgency we had these dueling press press conferences on Friday.
And every room one was saying what we have to act now FEMA is gonna run out of money on Monday or Tuesday.
And these these victims of -- various disasters that have happened across the country and natural disasters in the last few months.
I mean this this money.
And so there was a lot out.
There was a -- to stay in but Harry Reid the majority leader said well we need a weekend cool off everybody's tempers are high.
And basically He was trying to buy time.
I -- that He could lobby Republican senators up for his plan.
That basically would remove.
-- spending cuts from the house passed bill.
And this this would come later today in that vote.
But you know there -- is some of the Republicans -- the Republican leader Mitch McConnell was like you know -- why not.
Vote now this being on Friday and and Harry Reid said He wanted to take the weekend who.
And -- they did.
Well so we'll have to see what happens on that today I want to ask flipped his opinion on this but I'll ask you first and it's about -- -- Linda.
Lot of talk about that situation how much of an impact do you think it has on the president.
Well -- it clearly.
Taken it on him because.
In this the Republicans have already been attacking his stimulus slot.
Basically since the time it passed.
And so far that -- had avoided the kind of major.
Scandal that still in -- now represented I mean this is.
Even you know Democrats are are having a hard time defending the administration over this this is a company that got a 500 million dollar loan guarantee.
And then went bankrupt less than two years later.
I have so it definitely reflects poorly on the administration that approved this and because also isn't such a big chunk of money.
Huge actually hits and one another inning right right exactly.
And it was and took another hit at the stimulus that the Democrats have been.
Trying to win you know little success recently to defend saying that.
You know the economy may be bad now but it would've been a whole lot worse without the stimulus.
A lot and then you know -- in -- case definitely does not help there argument.
