All right there is an immigration law an illegal immigration law that's happening right now Massachusetts comprehensive crackdown.
On illegals proposed by a bipartisan group of state lawmakers in Massachusetts that would require individuals to show proof of citizenship.
When applying for a variety of services and jobs in the state enforce immigration status checks of those arrested.
Is this the right move is a question and our two guests feel very differently about this.
-- in -- -- is the executive director of national immigration forum and we want to welcome him this morning and Bob data communications director federation for.
American immigration reform or fair -- gentlemen good to see you both this morning.
At Alley I'll start with you and your feelings about what's happening with this reform -- in Massachusetts.
Well I think -- that the road the Massachusetts is going down as a very very slippery road.
We want to make sure that the laws on the books in any state treat all people equally and doesn't lead to unintentional.
Discrimination -- profiling of people who look or sound like an immigrant.
Now there -- some serious issues and in Massachusetts around.
Drunk driving.
That we need to address people who drive drunk don't belong on our roads.
We believe that people are here and were undocumented and the drive drunk do not believe belong in our country.
But we need to make sure that the laws are actually protecting Americans and if we set up laws that are really just discriminating against somebody of looks or sounds like an immigrant or not achieving that goal.
You know I should say again that this was a bipartisan group.
That is pushing for this new.
Show proof of citizenship law -- in Massachusetts and in fact it was a Democrat Massachusetts state senator Richard Moore who said this I think we've got this.
For everybody to see on the screen this past -- -- this has got sick in.
We need to look both at making our streets safer and we need to make sure those things like -- -- jobless benefits.
Perhaps that drop people of the state are reserved for those who truly need them who are residents of the commonwealth in quote Bob your comment.
Will wonders never cease.
You know the long standing democratic stronghold of Massachusetts the blows -- Blue States.
And evidently the cost of the impact of illegal immigration enough is enough but you know that's not a surprise.
Because over the last year Massachusetts.
Has had a string of -- horrible crimes allegedly.
Committed by illegal aliens who appear to have been in and out in and out of the system released.
You've got the Governor Deval Patrick -- Is resisting actually has overt hostility to implementing the secure communities program which would -- prevented those tragedies to Begin with.
And then you've got the ongoing taxpayer burden of illegal immigration in the bay state which is to.
Almost two billion dollars a year for four quarter million illegal aliens -- mean enough is enough and in Massachusetts.
So how when you hear comments like Obama is making it and that from the state senator Richard more democratic masses in Massachusetts.
And time it took cost as a liability -- zone and so forth.
If you don't have a law like this what would you.
Think yes.
Well we suggest that in the state of Massachusetts that the attorney general continue her great work.
And terms of protecting workers whether -- here born here or not and making sure that all workers can go to the attorney general say you know what.
My employer is not paying me the wages that He or she -- so there's a wage and hour.
Enforcement piece of this and I think in terms of the being drunk driving crimes.
You know the important part of in Massachusetts is that in fact.
The program does exist in essence a 287 G program does exist within the correctional facilities in Massachusetts and that person should have been removed the fact is that.
Our immigration system is completely over burned.
By a broken immigration system.
You can enforce.
Laws on a haystack when we're trying to find one or two needles in between so we actually need federal immigration reform.
In order to keep our community safe and make sure the people who are here driving drunk and -- serious threats to our society.
Are you just don't belong.
You know what we have a live -- gentlemen for those of -- who were -- -- program and also our two guests.
And it's it's just -- the live box in which people are watching us -- now they can get in through Google FaceBook any of the social networking pages.
And -- not live chat right now is a question from -- see your comments it's a problem if they have a child was born here the child is American.
I mean I know that broaden the issue out away from what they're dealing with perhaps a massive Massachusetts but but it is an issue Bob.
Yeah -- the Massachusetts law.
That's invasion does does does not address that but what what we're talking about his birthright citizenship.
Which was a clause put into effect immediately after the civil war which the which had a pretty good purpose and that was too.
Keep the states from denying citizenship from a newly freed slaves and that was a very good purpose back then it has subsequently.
Gone on to become a loophole that is used -- abuse by illegal aliens coming -- this company.
Country to have what's call an anchor baby and it allows them to sort of homestead here in the use it as justification providing amnesty.
And to keep the family from being separated but ultimately -- the -- the separation of the family occurred.
Win the illegal aliens decided made a conscious decision to come to the United States illegally to Begin --
