Today all kinds of questions as we head into the twenty top campaign and joining us -- -- Well some answers to your questions Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum who's joining us from DC a -- nice to -- again.

I'm mr.

Santorum.

I thank you.

Real quick I would start here as we let our viewers get some of the questions in at foxnews.com slash happening now a report came out while we were on the air that I was curious to get your thoughts on.

Apparently told Politico.

That you believe the governor Romney is trying to bully states.

So they tailor their election calendar in his favor why -- why are you accusing Mitt Romney and that's.

Well there's been reports out -- about that governor Romney is and his camp has been trying to get states to move their primary dates and just responding actually to reports that were made in and by people who were out there in the states.

And it certainly seems to me that someone.

Is trying to shorten the you know reduce the clock.

Try to run this clock down and and governors Romney and Perry certainly would be the ones is the folks at the top of the polls would you want to be most logical.

To have the the shortest amount of time between now on the and the primaries.

The benefit from that cell I just say we should look into this and find out what is the truth then.

And and if governor Romney is doing this I think He owes an apology to the people we're gonna have for we're gonna have caucus is now Christmas -- I mean a you know the day after Christmas is so it is being suggested -- -- when the Iowa Caucuses going to be held and in this is that there's a travesty -- me with this is a very serious election.

And to have this election be it be can be modeled.

As as a result of -- as something also we actually even more important which is celebrating the Christmas season.

I -- think is a as a travesty to this process and it's being done.

By somebody who's trying to move this thing forward for some political gain because it makes no sense.

For these states to be moving this quickly -- -- and to push this up into the Christmas season.

All right let that we just wanted to had that response and we'll look forward to -- for Mitt Romney.

On that accusation in those reports that you mention I wanna get December a year questions as well because there's some great ones about whole host a different topics Randy snow wants -- now.

How would you fix the housing market.

Well that's that's probably the most intractable problem we have right now on and way back when I was in the senate on the banking committee.

I was one of those trying to blow the whistle on -- and Freddie and Fannie and the the huge portfolio that they were having in the risk that they were taking.

And now what they were doing to underwrite a market.

That simply was on sustainable.

I what I've said it when I set the time back in 2008 when the and when all of this started to unravel.

Is that the government should not be bailing out banks the government should allow this housing market to find its level.

To allow the banks did to suffer their their losses and let this market work it out.

And I would say the same has to be -- we have we have the continual situation where.

Banks are holding on not not not allowing the the market to to flush out.

Take the losses.

Have the foreclosures occur so we can find the bottom and Begin to recover.

We're dragging this out -- to a slow death process for real estate and it's simply the wrong approach.

We see a more -- -- for the first time thirty year fixed below 4% and there's been some reports as well -- a massive refinancing plan.

That potentially the government is working on to encourage banks to allow homeowners at all levels to refinance at that very.

That that very low announced would you -- for some thing like that.

Why again I mean the the problem is that a lot of these homes are under water so it's not a matter of refinancing that you have folks who have more oh more than than the house is worth than.

You know they're they're probably not particularly interest in refinance a lot of them and that's the problem here with them via the market let the market work itself out let.

The the private sector do what it does we have constructive capitalism which grows and economy.

We have destructive capitalism when there's excess and people suffer the pains and consequences of -- nobody likes it.

But it but for those who took the the risk and and the moral hazard -- to suffer the consequences.

Caylee has an interesting question does it I deregulation in general and getting in getting government out of business right now.

How how exactly.

Would you do it what would be the first stat to deregulation in getting the government out a certain markets like the housing market.

Well one of the things I promise to do that every regulation the president Obama's as adopted.

And is under way of adopting when I come in this press the United States that cost over a hundred million dollars to the to the private sector how repeal it.

And if it necessary replaces a repeal all of them.

Some -- should be repealed and not replace others we can repeal and go through the process of replacing the because we do we may need regulation in that area.

But this president has decided that He is gonna take the approach to regulating it.

Almost every economic activity that we have in this country end and beyond that -- schools and and the like.

This is this is an overkill it's crushing the economy.

And I want to let businesses know what people know that when we commend office we're gonna remove these crushing burdens.

We're gonna re re craft this the regulations that are necessary in a way that government is not on your back back -- your side working with you.

To make sure that certainly we do things right and according to the law but we're not oppressing you and crushing you from for being -- I only have about thirty seconds here but it.

-- -- and how are you feeling about your chances and and now being on the campaign trail for weeks and months now just how are your spirits overall.

I feel great I mean the last few weeks have been the past few weeks of the campaign we've gotten a lot more attention and the the crowds are great the the responses very positive people.

Are telling me we don't we like we have this a first ever really seen you out there -- for you get a little a few more questions at the debates.

You're coming on TV we're seeing a little bit more on some of the stations and and again -- it.

We've been a slow and steady wins the race got a campaign and we're gonna continue to focus on that -- -- we're doing well feel very good about our chances and Iowa New Hampshire and South Carolina.

And I -- -- your point is He says slow and steady that's right account -- comes into focus so much when you look at these primaries I -- -- always nice to have you sir we appreciate the time.

Thank you.
