I he's been the governor of Louisiana for the last four years dealing with -- everything from the recovery.
-- new law in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina to last year's gulf oil -- to reducing the State's budget it has not been easy but this weekend governor Bobby Tyndall.
Actually faces a reelection as.
Joins us live from -- -- -- to governor.
Good morning guys thank you for having me back on the shadow.
And you're welcome well this is a little bit of a different kind of a system that you have in Louisiana tell us what's gonna happen on Saturday.
With -- called an open primary everybody runs regardless of party I've -- nine opponents Democrat it we -- I'm a Republican opponents independent other opponents.
If you get 50% plus one you win election in the primary for years ago.
For the first time and our State's history as a non incumbent I won election in the primary we did need to run off our goals to win it again tomorrow.
We're running on a record of fiscal conservatism for the last four years we've cut government spending 26%.
Cut government spending nine billion dollars.
Got fewer state employees we've had in over twenty years yet at the same time our credit ratings are higher than had been in 25 years.
For our unemployment rates below the national southern average southern business development.
Three years -- rentable wheezing and -- the best state in the south for economic development.
For twelve months in a row we've seen private sector employment go up twelve months -- -- we've seen government jobs go down so.
Louisiana is headed in the right direction we've made the tough choices.
Unlike Washington DC -- like pres Obama we understand government doesn't create jobs when you cut government spending when you cut taxes.
By the way who also enacted the largest income tax cut in our State's history and that's how you create good paying private sector jobs.
You know -- I don't have to tell you over the last year so a lot of people talked about you for perhaps a run for president or vice president.
Not running for president that you are supporting somebody who is -- that is Rick Perry.
So what do you make of the debate the other night because a lot of people -- -- -- you know that's just not help all the way the top.
-- a guy Mitt Romney and Rick Perry went after each other.
Book a couple of things one at presidential politics is cow like SEC football and it's a contact phone -- -- it's a tough battle.
For too many years the Republican Party we -- -- selected our candidate.
I'm glad there's rough and tumble debate because that'll make our eventual nominee stronger the reality is.
We need some reason we strong enough to beat pres Obama I am supporting Rick Perry the reality is I think either of -- those guys both of them have been governors both.
About governor Romney governor Perry would be better than pres Obama -- support whoever our nominee is.
The reason I'm supporting Rick is you look at his track record in Texas they've created nearly half.
Half the jobs created in America the last couple years you've seen under pres Obama we've lost over two million jobs under governor Perry they've created over a million jobs.
He's cut taxes 65 times fourteen billion dollars and acted tough tort reform.
He understands what it's gonna take to get this country back on track.
Now -- propose this flat tax proposal seriously cutting taxes revamping the tax code.
Here's the fundamental difference between governor Perry and pres Obama pres Obama never -- anything other than his campaign before you've elected president.
We don't just need another good debater we need -- -- actually as a governor as a business executive balanced the budget make some tough decisions.
And governor I -- have to tell you the polls are looking good unlike a about a month ago look at his Mitt Romney out in front according to the last eight people Herman Cain is second.
Overall popularity then Rick Perry down to thirteen although he's got seventeen million dollars.
And he's got Ron -- -- 8% overall the tactic of bringing up Mitt Romney's lawn care company.
Rips into -- SA said I don't really understand why you brought it up to you understand why brought it out.
-- two things one I think both governor Perry and governor Romney understand that pres Obama has failed to secure the border and I think at the end of the day.
Both these governors understand that we can't continue to have an open border we need to use whatever it takes to secure our borders stop -- probably lives rationing answers not amnesty.
And I think both governors understand.
I'm gonna recommend before you go because one of the things that Rick Perry -- in the polls from people say is because of his in state tuition for illegals do agree with him on the.
I don't any of our can agree are a 100% on everything but I do respect the fact they've spent 400 million dollars of Texas taxpayer dollars.
To help secure the border we're not agree a 100% of everything but I do agree that he's cut taxes -- jobs and that's the track record we need for America.
Well listen we need get a busy weekend you get an open primary to -- that the candidates have got to get at least 50% and I just read on Nolan dot com.
There was a -- right WW LB TV station them there.
If the election were held when they did the poll you would get 57%.
And regular good weekend.
Governor thank you very much for -- were hoping so I just water remind all your viewers to vote thank you guys here.
