-- -- Clayton -- for your fox tech tape today you wanna show you some tips and tricks for IOS five that's Apple's brand new mobile operating system that just rolled out for both the iPad the iPhone -- and the iPod Touch if you don't have it.
Go forth and download it because there are hundreds of new features but I want to show you some key ones right.
All my lock screen -- now -- notification from any place that I want.
Let's say from Twitter from text messages from email but I can swipe to unlock right from the home screen and go right to that text message specifically.
Of course -- need to set up your notification is the way you want them.
Do you want that notification to -- move your whole screen or.
At the very top -- these little -- that's how I have mine set at the top of the page or none at all you can also pick which apps do you you know applications for instance in Stu grant to -- -- notifications turned on.
Sure for Twitter yes but for my Bank of America know.
Another great feature of notification since this -- she option for notification to slide this down from the top.
And it shows me all of my recent notification if I missed any -- all still there.
I can go I can -- the stock ticker can -- -- email messages and you have to set all of this up by it whether at a glance all of this is set up inside the settings.
One great new feature for -- five is the camera feature right from the home screen.
A lot of people don't even know this exists -- a -- my -- navigation in even realize just double tap the home button.
And a little camera icon pops up at the bottom no need to unlock the phone find the camera anymore just happened it takes me right to the camera.
Something else I want to show you is spotlight search now this is something that's not new to -- five but I often find a lot of people don't even know about it.
Simply go all the way to the left of your screen and allows you -- to search your entire phone.
So type in the word.
Frank and it'll pull up emails with the word Franken side there may be a song on my iPod on my phone that has the word frank -- side of it.
No need to hunt through all of your folders to find what you're.
Next up -- message this was a huge upgrade for apple and it basically rivals blackberries famous beauty and service what is it.
It's basically Apple's own text messaging system.
Anybody with an -- five enabled device whether it's an iPod Touch.
Even an iPad you'll be able to text back and forth for free over Apple's own network know needing to rely on the sillier than -- There's also another big upgrade for safari that's the mobile version of the Internet browsing software.
There's tabbed browsing and there's also this great reader function now.
I can now tab between webpages much the same way you would on your desktop browser just by tapping across.
At the very top.
I can have multiple tabs open and it's really change the way that I surf the web -- web page filled with advertisements and all kinds of junk on here.
If I just go -- -- to the top and I touch reader.
-- strip all of that out and to be a beautiful page that I can read.
Without any of those -- Another huge feature of course is -- -- this is Apple's solution to keeping everything in sync.
In the cloud you're gonna wanna turn this on let me show you how to do it go into settings and find the -- cloud icon.
And then you're gonna wanna turn on all of these things your mail contacts calendars -- reminders all of these things.
Find my iPad.
Photo stream.
So all of these things are in sync in the cloud and you never have to worry about it if you lose a device.
Get a new device He just type in your iPod account information and all of your information is right there.
And a few weeks since I -- has been out it's worked flawlessly.
