Why didn't want I think some people come to different.

Conclusions.

About.

Faith and politics and -- -- both Christians you both.

Devoted Christians and yet you've come to different views on.

What those views what those -- should mean and in pop and the political circle.

I'm -- wanted to -- first.

Well I think fit what we have as we have -- we have really a situation where.

Christians for so long especially evangelical Christians have been told that in order to -- evangelical you have to be.

One particular party and I think we wrote this book.

Really to get permission for Christians of every -- and also people who are just curious about those those crazy evangelicals.

To understand that -- are we are not a monolithic and people we do not -- to just one particular political bent or party.

But we actually have permission to think.

And so what we've done is it through this but we've we've done some of the work.

Today's share our thinking on the subject in order to spare -- to stand and send some more thinking within our community.

And accepted to apologize to just -- -- Sherron it's your middle name but ironically Lisa thank you very much I think that it didn't want them what is your view and why -- we.

Polarize ourselves in the faith community as as to left or right.

Well I think most evangelical Christians are on what we call the right most evangelical Christians who have political views.

Are our conservative politically conservative evangelicals I think they.

Even jump a leftist small -- it's growing or not I don't know I don't know -- is trying to make it grow.

But.

And very busy at that but why why -- people have different views why -- people have different views on church government why they have different views on the sacraments.

We all come to the Bible.

But when we come to the Bible we come with with baggage we come with.

Culture -- the way we were raised that we were come with our passions.

Things which -- attached.

And the process.

Of Reading scripture humbly as the process of listening to god and being willing.

Four that for the scriptures god through the scriptures to purge from us.

All thought -- his thoughts and that's a lifelong process.

So I think that's Mikey and why should politics be any different.

So.

Our passion our our moral passions are cultural passions of a cult they.

Color.

Are our future and and and this book it is arguments for one position -- and another.

To argue that -- this is Swedish come down or this is the way things are supposed to be.

-- what what are the issues that you actually disagree with most strongly.

Well that's an interesting question I think ironically we both agree on immigration.

But I think that we probably most most strongly disagree.

On the issues.

It actually -- climate change.

And also abortion and same sex marriage and war pretty much all of the other issues besides now one immigration.

We really do come down on different sides.

What what what what the go to the issue.

Of abortion of -- because.

There are many people who don't believe that anybody on the left would be would be pro life.

As opposed to anybody on the on the right because it's assumed that the the pro life position is sort of the Republican position in the right position.

But on the left it assumes that you know course there are no pro life people on the left so please explain your position.

Well I believe that life begins before conception actually in the mind of god I think we see that very clearly in song won 39.

We see it in the reality that we are all -- in the image of god.

But the reality is is that -- the tactics the strategy of the left evidence they have the right in particular.

The conservative movement has been to to elect conservative presidents to then appoint conservative judges who within overturn Roe vs.

Wade.

But I just think that that strategy is not a workable won the reality is is that the cause the greatest cause of of abortion of high rates of abortion.

Is poverty -- until we address the root cause of abortion.

We will not solve the problem in America even if we overturn Roe vs.

Wade which does not outlaw.

Abortion it only sends the question back to the states -- and shades are -- -- what is your position on that.

-- -- -- I am also pro life of course and abortion is a form of killing.

And the government's job if there's anything is to prevent us from killing each other the government is there to protect everyone but especially the week.

The rich.

Can often protect themselves.

The majority can protect itself.

But the unborn if -- mothers won't protect them they need the government to protect them -- it just seems.

I know -- obvious that the government should protect life whether whether people have abortions because of poverty -- perfect for whatever reason.

The government should protect those lives and -- -- is a poverty issue well than that that goes back to our our chapter on business and and the poor.

Need a freer economy and and so on and so forth.
