We'll -- and -- all that is the message to 150 lawmakers are expected to give at a news conference today.

This afternoon about this debt crisis that we're -- Mired in this country so we've got eight more days until the super committee has to roll out.

Their plan to cut more than a trillion dollars from the budget and the members of the committee.

-- very fancy watch.

Let me say this we know that the deadlines there and there's still time to meet the deadline.

I -- and again.

You are you concerned about the -- going to speak about anything relative tour committee at different so it's they're talking about a new proposal that's why I mean we're right down the snubbing the we're still talking.

We still don't you.

And talking since.

That's the -- -- there are joined now by two members of the go big coalition.

Democratic congressman Heath Shuler at Republican senator Saxby Chambliss formerly of the gang of six gentlemen welcome good to have you -- -- -- Senator channels and we start with user I would listen to those men and women coming and going.

Do you have any confidence that the super committee is gonna come up with a deal to cut more than a trillion dollars in the next eight days.

-- -- we know they've had one heck of a challenge.

To do what they've been charged due within about a 140 day period it is.

Really mammoth undertaking.

But we know all the members of that the super twelve committee we know their own dedicated public servants and that they're working hard try to get there but frankly it's.

It's a huge challenge to achieve even the one point two -- really going for four trillion.

It's almost disease is going to one point two and that's been our message to that if you will go bit.

Do what the markets have said we need to do to show responsible effort and where there weren't we got your back.

You know congressman Shuler the the word is that congress -- -- -- congressman I've earned.

Have basically stepped away.

From this processed two of the super committee is both Democrats.

-- have you heard that and you know what was the deal breaker for them and can anything get -- if -- if they're not and it.

We'll have I have not heard that and I hope at this point in time our country needs everyone engaged.

Regardless of their political.

Perspective.

-- they need to drop the political jargon they needed.

Step -- step up.

Plate and say hey it's Tom the American people -- as a whole world is watching.

We need compromise.

We need to make sure that we can get confidence back into the markets as a senator has spoken about and once we do that jobs will come back.

Will be able to -- I don't think we'll excuse me for -- harassment but you know annual we have to talk about his spending cuts at least eight you know at least that has to be.

Half of the ball game here.

And it seems doesn't seem to senator -- and the other day that we're not talking about any real -- and even if you look at Pat -- proposal and everyone gives him a lot of credit.

You know we're trying to be -- negotiator on super committee.

Other things that he has suggested -- means testing Medicare.

And selling off some federal land you know might be good ideas but it doesn't sound like anybody on either side is talking about slashing spending.

In the kind of -- way that most Americans at least to the mid -- seems to be calling for you all to do.

Mark I couldn't agree more that's the reason -- Both a gang of six and the bowl since and it worked.

Suggests there's lots of custody that that are available for us and -- we have to put and Tom -- programs in the midst of that if you look at the overall budget.

So it's a substantial part of what we need to do it comes in Medicare Medicaid Social Security.

The stance and because there.

Interest rate goes up one point that's another 160 billion dollars a year that would have to pay and and we cannot continue to borrow money.

You know -- if they don't reach a deal senator Chambliss there's you know some suggestion that the bond markets.

Evaluate -- may slice in our credit rating again.

Analyze this could happen I think that with the approval numbers and congress people are so disenchanted with.

The ability to get anything done.

And there is the idea out there that Republicans don't want to get anything done either because they'd like to see this president.

I've replaced by another president they think if there's a deal on that might not happen.

I don't think that's right -- from wholesale standpoint there may be some individual members -- -- that would like to see nothing done but.

By virtue of the fact that he and Mike Simpson on the house Mark Warren on this put together a group that.

You know is bipartisan.

-- bicameral and also it's what I would say it's my philosophical.

So we've got a -- -- liberal lot of conservative folks who are determined that the super committee.

Should get something out in -- productive -- -- and that's where we're saying gas.

We're here we're the we're supporting you and we wanna be there at the end where they really major factors.

-- we -- eight days ago and we hope that they listened to us what you folks put forth thank you so much for me -- has represented its -- Senator sexy Saxby Chambliss down -- thank you good to see -- -- is.
