I can't believe that.
At a time when working families in this country are struggling paycheck to paycheck when we need them to have the resources to buy things in our economy.
To create well for them profitability and more jobs that the Republican position is still raise the payroll tax on working families.
I think that that just defies logic.
That was senator Dick Durbin and he's the majority whip in the US senate he's from a Democrat from Illinois on FOX News Sunday with Chris Wallace.
The last thing Republican that refusals to go along with the president's request.
To extend a temporary.
Payroll tax holiday for all Americans.
And this is power play welcome back we are still with -- Tucker Carlson and any -- Who I think have a few more things that they would like to say to one another about various issues as it relates to governance.
But let's talk one of the people doing the actual governing.
And that is congresswoman Hayworth -- represented New York's Hudson Valley she joins us from our studios in New York congresswoman how you doing on them all -- -- That's -- good it's good -- I'm very glad to talk to you today because.
It turns out that Dick Durbin says you want to raise every American's taxes hugely and don't want America to get back to work.
And we're just trying to understand why you Republicans are so got started me.
For help or Russo gushed down a darn caring Chris and that's -- we care about.
Our economy now in for the future we care about the fourteen million Americans are unemployed the ten million or underemployed and desperately need an economy.
We're not gonna have that happen for as long as our businesses are entrepreneurs are employers.
Null and that they are facing cliff come 2013.
When the L want to know three tax structure expires when the 2010 help -- really starts cranking up in terms an employer mandates.
This isn't this isn't badly affecting the climate and there isn't a lot of common ground that we could've.
Really utilized with the super committee's work but the president's attitude and fortunately was divisive.
And I think he was the unseen.
-- all those.
Generally felt presence in that committee room.
So it.
Do you think there's any chance that this payroll tax.
The holiday will be extended.
Do you see any scenario where that could happen.
I absolutely do I think there's tremendous sympathy for extending the payroll tax holiday.
I've been beaten with the understanding.
That we all have to have that these payroll taxes are used to pay.
For the great and programs that are seniors rely on -- Those and revenues to support social security and Medicare have to come from somewhere so they do come.
From a -- of the taxes structure and how ever we may configure it.
And we don't want to see America's so working families and -- very hard working middle class.
Taxpayers further burden there's no question that we should -- and we can find ways.
All of the cutting in the federal.
The government to the right size so that we can afford to do these things and give them the break that they need as well.
Same thing on unemployment.
Benefits that are due to expire for the long term unemployed -- now that the biggest chunk.
Dealing with this the long term problem do you favor an extension with the pay for their.
I think all of these things Chris I have to be responsibly.
Dealt with -- pay for us.
And their pay -- -- to be had and I even joined and colleagues I've been calling.
Since these threats in the -- committee's progress became clear.
I'm calling for us to return to the issue of the 2010 health care overhaul which we absolutely can't afford.
-- is a brake to growth.
And the way to raise the revenues that we need is to provide for growth so part of the pay for could be in anticipated.
It's getting revenues through growth but we have to score dynamic -- if we're gonna have that happens so we need to address the whole budgeting process far more effectively.
And last thing congresswoman.
You are part of bed fairly elite club.
Freshman Republicans who are really knocking the fundraising staff.
More than a million dollars in fund raising you're doing very well we see a lot of democratic retirements.
Are you starting to feel a little more confident about keeping your -- in keeping your majority.
Well I can certainly help for the sake of the American people that the majority that favors efficient effective right size government does prevail we've been working very very hard in our district we've made.
A lot of progress for the district and I and I'm grateful that our constituents and people who care about our district have.
Recognize that are supporting this effort.
And I know -- I'm sure you have but that Barney Frank has just announced that he will not be running for 2012.
So that -- tell you something about -- -- the climate.
As we go forward for the congressional aspect of the of this ethical year.
And congress who we should let you know that you have a real Fannie -- did Angelo who says it's about time man came -- she's one of the smartest women in Washington.
So no that -- is out there for you.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Beth thank you so much have a great day and into Chris thanks.
Okay let's get back to this conversation with -- Tucker Carlson and -- Lee.
On on this subject so we hear from the congresswoman that we need to pay for.
And this -- -- and she used it a dangerous term in Washington which is dynamic scoring.
Better dynamic scoring is also known about what some wild golf partners do which is as you get closer to the -- -- get a sense of maybe what it's gonna be.
-- maybe just go ahead and write it down now maybe you could just say this feels like a part of this is obviously going to be -- our.
-- who knows we don't even worry about the final number but we can just go ahead estimate the eighteen now so.
-- do you see a chance to start with you Tucker do you see a chance.
That using dynamic scoring another dynamic accounting devices that they'll be away that the Republicans can sort of -- up an extension of the unemployment insurance and an extension of this payroll tax holiday.
As -- -- that yes I think that's likely to happen horrors they will tell the truth which is obviously the harder thing which is that.
You know most Americans don't pay federal income taxes are ready we're getting we're moving toward a system very very small percentage of Americans pay for everything.
This is by the way that the congressman put out of the middle class -- that's -- not a partisan brink of people however Charles price -- brand new book studying the work habits of Americans among other things.
It points out that the average working class person as many more hours of free time week.
In the average taxpayer -- Right higher income personally I.
I -- not supposed to bring reality to this because it doesn't comport with the cliche is pleased and that's the truth -- -- -- -- so if you don't pay taxes you don't have skin in the game I'm for.
Everybody paying the same rates and -- and as a keen understanding of how much all of this nonsense costs.
And maybe we'd have some sort of change of everyone felt the bite but he said that.
Accidentally I think that there should be town work that you do you -- to actually contribute to an actually a little -- just the skin in the game.
All I I have seen we agree with that however that we are having an income disparity right now where -- middle class is feeling a greater burden.
-- -- much what they are taking home the knee operated in the upper income and it wasn't paid for.
-- didn't federal didn't -- fuel tax holiday was paid for Democrats put a proposal out there.
It's not what -- would want -- yet it is in the -- and those making over a million dollars would have to pay a little bit more.
All but it was going to be paid for and the whole notion want to put troops into reality.
The notion that -- just gonna get ya everything as it sounds like just just how Obama care paid for -- happy -- rescinding of obamacare Paper that is not going to happen in the next one here.
That's what they talk about that it has been weeks since yesterday everything you wanna throw up almost right let's get rid of Obama they -- tell everybody that Christmas shopping season -- of the.
They're going to jam something through -- I don't think it and something will -- on -- and I was say it's reasonable to ask.
For those making over a million dollars pages a little bit more about what everybody else could be something to that be nice because they don't currently trying to get standard Jim Johnson went over the back.
Does America really.
-- of America why even -- cater to the same as everybody else.
Percentage of seniors and others that -- honest account we're working for the next coming years -- he's from working families of the rest was -- before is what I'm not working -- Our New -- I've seen that they are.
Outraged that phrase working family came over here -- -- all this isn't.
This this will not be -- today but we've had a good discussion and I really appreciate you both being here Internet you voted I'm allowed to continue to call you the Internet that's what the -- says so I'm sticking with that because.
In my heart -- number one you're the Internet just as I'm sure it is for Tucker over the daily caller.
And we also want to say that.
Can now in North Carolina says money for bailing out unions banks in Europe came from increasing borrowing over 40% more than what we're currently -- in the real scandal probably.
Can now is that the Federal Reserve is we're just seeing today bummed out about.
Fourteen trillion dollars to banks and -- classified -- We'll talk about that another day no word from Charles de.
Because he was enjoying his Thanksgiving -- but hopefully we'll have one for you tomorrow thanks for being with this Internet have a great day we'll see you soon.
