And it's time for the bias bass and we have our regular Cal Thomas a Fox News contributor.
Also he is on fox news watch on Saturdays at 2:30 PM eastern at 11:30 PM eastern I'm going to be sure to plug that a couple times in our time -- together cal.
Are right you know.
First of all great to have you on and -- oh that's interesting I like how we we know where are you via Skype and on your phone is how we're doing -- -- yeah.
Yes -- -- -- I'm I'm at my home -- my AL luxurious home -- are -- doing Skype.
I love it all right -- let's talk Ted Koppel.
And his elitist hack corrosive partisanship that Fox News started in ruining the country look at all about.
Well -- -- a friend of mine I was on -- many times in the eighties and nineties he always treated me fairly but he is part of the media -- and they think most mostly -- he -- this rather incredible interview with broadcast and cable magazine and among other things he criticized -- Rupert Murdoch the chairman underscore the parent company of Fox News.
And -- Fox News president.
Roger -- and he accused them -- -- to the right and that's basically polluting the journalistic waters but here's the key line I think in this interview -- -- -- three -- because it reveals everything you need to know.
About our liberal media people.
Here's what Ted Koppel said.
But Murdoch and -- are being unnecessarily modest that is about their ability to control the flow of news they perceive something that the rest of us did not.
There were millions of conservatives in America who considered AB CNBC and CBS to be far too liberal there was an appetite for news and opinion.
The conservative spin now the very fact that Ted Koppel didn't know there were millions of American conservatives who thought the three broadcast networks were liberal.
Ought to tell -- all you need to know.
Well.
Let me ask you -- fox apparently was so successful.
That NBC.
Created MSNBC.
-- YA but why are we not hearing more.
Perhaps from Ted Koppel about MSNBC has he not watch the network does he -- of their fair and balanced.
Well of course I tend grew up in an era where you're not supposed to speak ill of the dead so -- nobody watches it BC except sabathia the insiders.
But I think there is a point to be made -- Colin Powell -- suggested this yesterday on the this week program on on ABC although I don't agree with his senate conclusion there is a lot of incendiary rhetoric and are granted as some of the guests on some of these shows broadcast and cable are there for ratings -- if we don't have ratings we don't have income and we don't exist but.
Date may seem to be not really committed to a solution while more to disparaging the patriotism.
Or the value of the other person so there's a lot of shouting going on an awful lot of resolution.
Although Colin -- yesterday on this week wanted to Harken back his attitude -- to be to an -- where Bob Michael was the House Minority -- before Newt Gingrich -- the Republican revolution and Republicans took -- the House of Representatives in those -- Bob Michael just -- -- pretty much -- whatever the Democrats wanted to -- and the Democrats would occasionally -- Republicans have -- this was a great -- of -- and agreement it was also -- time literally three broadcast -- New York Times Washington -- -- the news agenda but Gingrich came along at a -- fox and the Washington examiner and the Internet and conservative web pages and say you know.
We don't have to take this anymore we have ideas that deserve consideration -- so now those of us who are conservatives are illegal immigrants if you will on the exclusive and pristine territory other broadcast media and ruining journalism.
I don't accept that I think journalism is better and the country is better because of fox and all of these other publications.
I think it gives viewers choice -- to listen to what they they choose to listen to and without the three broadcast networks.
AB CNBC and CBS -- viewers didn't really how much of a choice and so you give them.
An alternative.
And it seems about alternative is the minority in like illegal immigrants I suppose they're always gonna have to be fighting their way up the latter.
Right these people are pro choice on abortion for the most part but they're not pro choice -- where people to get their news right I think that's I think it's hypocritical.
-- Colin Powell blaming the media and Tea Party.
For divisive tone in Washington.
Well he did finish off the interview by thanking Christiane Amanpour he says thank you dear now does that speak -- they are too close association between the covered and the person who's supposed to do recovering double Colin Powell is a you have Republican -- -- -- -- endorsed.
Barack Obama in 2008.
He he is pro abortion needs pro gay rights of all the typical liberal social agenda and so he comes in -- Okay and and what what makes you I guess think that perhaps ABC it maybe had him on almost.
In in a way where they knew that he was going to come on and say what he said his comments about it the Tea Party what does that say about ABC.
Because -- -- -- about one of you know national Broderick the broadcast networks that once again perhaps is is is sort of steering the road toward their interviews did.
-- -- on maybe the -- The host Amanda reporters on the broadcast networks love nothing better then a Republican conservative or conservative religious person who has -- recanted and gone over -- to the other side or is now a mushy moderate they interviewed them all day long I think you know the former.
Aide to Clinton and bush and Reagan David Gergen is a perfect example of that a there are many others.
Is so if you come over or moved closer to the position they'll need to make your contributor they'll hire you want to pay your salary so they -- to have on Colin Powell because he bashes the Republican Party he bashes the Tea Party he -- fox it -- -- conservatives and then they call -- a Republican so -- they're ideal kind of Republican guest.
Well I guess when -- number one you have to get -- a lot we'll take get the fact that you got it.
You're absolutely right all right Cal Thomas thank you very much great to talk to holy -- very insightful thank you thank you.
