To the campus of Virginia tech university I'm Harris Faulkner in tonight for Shepard Smith here's what we know -- this hour.
Investigators say earlier today a gunman walked up to an officer who was involved in a traffic stop.
And shot and killed that police officer Dennis suspect reportedly ran for a few minutes later administrators locking down the school for the better part of the day.
And we followed the story here on fox for hours the policeman who was killed.
At a parking lot near the Cassell coliseum and if -- unfamiliar with the campus that's near the famous lane stadium where the Hokies play football.
Police then reportedly found a second body at the duck pond lot we're told they found a gun next to that body.
But it is still unclear whether that person was the original shooter now a law enforcement sources telling Fox News Channel tonight the gunman was believed to be -- Virginia Tech student.
Who killed himself so far though investigators are very tight lipped on the record.
I don't think there's a motive at this time that's still being investigated.
I guess that it's still.
In the early stages on -- so we don't have a lot of the answers yet.

In light of the turmoil on that trauma and the tragedy suffered by this campus by guns.

And we extend our deepest sympathy and condolences.
