We're gonna got a representative Tom that -- he of course is a Republican from -- -- doing T congressman how are you.

-- I'm doing great they should've let us beyond that and yeah of course part of this this conference committee going on between Republicans and Democrats trying to come up with an agreement.

What can you airport -- is new this morning.

It was still early on as the senate to come back to town and finish the job that needs to be done for the American people.

I'll right now where we're having meetings were gone through regular -- on our side and were prepared to negotiate to get this taken care of what we need the senate to come back to town.

I drop their vacation plans to get to work.

And that's what we we've noticed a lot of reporters and the -- is -- area are saying hey you know what it's a ghost town here.

Nobody is here so it is this your -- you -- and please come on come on back to DC and then let's do this thing today.

Wholeheartedly -- send the message out to the senate.

And that it's -- to come back and get the job done for the American people the American people deserve.

For -- to get the work done and we can get it done there is some disagreement but we got nine days plenty of time crossed a bridge that gap and get this taken care for the American people.

Well and then to get a little bit of background for folks at home who haven't been following this but imagine there was a bit of a wild -- that happened earlier this week.

When GOP led house refused to adopted the senate version of the belt that they passed with 89 votes in the backing -- the majority of Republicans only seven and did not go along with it.

Some pundits are saying that there's a real problem with communication going on within the Republican Party -- house speaker John -- consummate McConnell what do you have to say about back.

-- -- that that is not the case I think what happened here is that the senate is engaging an old school politics they live a clock was taken and they wanted to go home for their Christmas vacation.

And they gonna finish the job and that's that senate Democrats and senate Republicans alike.

And at the bottom line is as we gotta get this policy right for America.

It's critical that we get the policy right -- -- got to put politics as a secondary issue policies got to drive the day for the next at twelve months.

Well congressman some critics would say you know -- -- today at least there and they're willing to -- two months yes it's not a year but they are willing citizens can it continue negotiations.

You know -- the next couple of months why do you say that's not a good idea.

They -- because that the package that they sent over to us say it.

We're talking about the payroll tax rate it's the social Social Security tax we got to make sure that Social Security the Social Security trust fund.

It is solvent and protected as we go forward with this policy.

We got unemployment that's expiring that we got to take care of we gotta get 99 weeks is just way too long and even the president agrees he has twenty weeks on the table that -- cut the 99 weeks.

179 weeks and how are doctors get paid under Medicare and they treat our elderly patients and all America.

These are critical issues and it's time not to do it on sixty day.

An extension sixty -- types that type tax policy.

Time to do it right for the American people long term.

Delhi Saturday at a house speaker John and I am on other saying it's simply -- that -- and and down the line that there.

I would worsen the major difference is that the Republicans and Democrats are having wearing these that these meetings that you're going through -- have you found any common ground.

And we mean I think there's common ground in the sense that -- the senate agrees with us that we have to do this longer.

We have to do this at least a minimum of one year to two years where there really had the disagreement -- -- how are gonna pay for play to make sure that the source security trust fund is protected.

I mean we -- talking I have concern.

Office payroll tax cut in that it threatens our security even further.

But I'm willing to accept the policy that lower taxes for Americans is good policy -- -- my democratic colleagues have conceded that point.

By standing so firm and -- and -- -- standing for the lower payroll tax rate.

-- at least for making headway there -- -- that lower taxes is good policy for America that's a huge concession on on the other side and we need to continue that -- for.

Well the idea behind all of this of course was to try and to create jobs so.

Is it one year or even long enough to do so it actually implementing this is is to let -- not long enough is his one year -- Montana.

There is the biggest threat to job creation that's demonstrated by this sixty day two month policy coming out of -- is the uncertainty.

My job creators don't even know what they're -- tax rates are going to be.

-- to ninety days let alone a year down -- down the road.

That's what we have to focus on and everything that certainty back to small business America.

Hardworking taxpayers deserve to know exactly what their paychecks are gonna look like -- sixty days -- a year out.

And -- ask you -- -- we've got to hear what -- this mean.

Going into an election year we've got to you know and just a few days a little bit over a week -- that this is gonna be expiring but what is it.

Mean heading into an election year with an incumbent president who is now hanging himself as a tax cutter essentially and it and the Republicans are coming across as.

As -- incidents keep the mayor well I.

It's a first of all we we're obviously standing for lower taxes as we stand -- a year -- Payroll tax holiday I extension so there there were consistent with where we're we've -- for thirty years plus.

The bottom line is is that what we're seeing is that this is all about politics and I'll tell them part of the freshman -- -- came to Washington this should be about policy.

Then politics.

And congressman we're getting a bit of feedback on Twitter cannon and says yes there are big games going I'm also hearing from -- well -- he says not the house the senate no budget in three years and one I wanted to drag it to you terrorist wian has said there's always disorder in the house the senate in the government.

And -- also you know just your response all this is this a lot of political posturing going on.

And Washington as usual as some of our viewers are saying.

Well what I would say is this is that we in the house are trying to go back to regular order the conference committee has been it's been part of our constitution for 200 plus years.

And I think one of the great problems that have caused us to be in the position we are as it as a nation today.

Is the disregard of that regular order and what we're demonstrating here is just let's get to the conference committee so we can.

Work out our differences get the job done and go back to regular order and I think they'll do as well serve all of us well going forward.

-- -- okay we'll look to how much of this.

Is really political theater I -- salsa video on our network last night a Democrat -- Leighton -- Washington congressman he -- -- in front of his peers he had at Christmas -- said that the Democrats work paying their stockings this year and that he pulls out a lot of calls and says and this is -- the Republicans.

Have to give me -- I'm not saying it's just the Democrats are just the Republicans doing bit because this is Washington as usual was that again some of our viewers are saying.

I would say is this is that.

-- this is not Washington as usual in the house we're trying to get to adhere to regular order.

And that's it that's what has happened in this is a change back to.

What will be common sense policies coming out of Washington and I and I understand my colleagues on the other side of the aisle number one's in the senate.

They want to continue to do old school politics they're not going to be going to engage in -- -- about policy first politics second.

By congressman.

Thank you so much SpinRite TN a Christmas he got a tough job ahead of you know -- Appreciate that and I know Christmas to you.
