Congressman -- or king or is it king or king maker.

Well I'd rather -- -- more -- side of this title that I remember -- I -- first elected back to reality -- -- fifteen years ago when I got my first letter that it.

-- -- -- -- -- The that everybody's vying for your attention and particularly fear endorsement aren't they -- -- what do you think that -- an average senior U.

You carry a lot of clout in Iowa and everybody seems the Republicans -- is want you to give them the non.

Well element they're just been very fortunate that my approaches that politics has -- as a full spectrum conservative and and my my priorities.

Sometimes they're on the social agenda sometimes they're on the fiscal but really -- trying to fill the holes in our line of scrimmage so that.

I spent some are aware there are a lot of people are eagerly working on the social issues and there's a need at a social site at pinnacle there.

NF -- over the other way to go to the other side and I go to the -- as opposed to the social and and so I think that that's one of the things that the public's looking for -- a full spectrum conservative or at least the Republicans are looking for.

And I panicked or other reasons that they're looking at me personally and by then and I'll tell you this look very very -- -- -- -- decision for me that is.

-- wouldn't Newt Gingrich be a full spectrum conservative.

I wouldn't that he wouldn't.

And in many ways he's been a very creative -- conservatives.

And that is some of the things that tribal people -- you were once and -- just a robust global economic anomaly pops up and then the question becomes.

What -- that anomaly indicative.

It is an anomaly or is that indicative that something that's another strip that we don't know about Internet and it just a question I'm here.

This stuff like -- go to court so don't like -- get -- dour piece justices I don't like yeah I -- -- -- that's a particularly conservative view that's gonna be troubling.

-- -- believe our judicial system and our separation of powers.

Well I you know -- I think -- just this specific language that was pulled out of that and this sounds a little harsh but.

If you break it down to the constitutional aspects -- have a -- judges before the congress to my recollection and and I've been very critical of them for their mistake about -- and I remember the Supreme Court decision and an individual decision.

Where we had a resolution on the floor or reject the Supreme Court decision and as I was -- -- to speak out sent down to Perot and and -- -- right behind Barney Frank and so generally my job isn't it just comes naturally -- -- Barney -- -- -- a piece of Paper ready to take notes so I can -- about Henry but Barney and you know I agree with everything is -- about the -- decision he rejected -- -- -- -- so we could sometimes.

Bob Dylan with Tila Tequila decision that was imminent domain decision at a New London, Connecticut agree and that and a but the question is whether and at the congress and a jump in because -- only get decision but I don't wanna get -- off track here in terms of the campaign are you leaning in any direction.

I haven't really -- really settled in on it it's just is just a very difficult and then.

And the breadth of their government down due out in a way -- you know Mitt Romney -- definitely.

Consistent over the last four years there's questions about consistently but he's never had so many actually sent so many consistent years and overall the last four and that is that.

Well for years and love Hewitt's consistent well -- that are.

She you know I mean ever for a lot of the public that's really really good.

I didn't see revenue you know we're -- look at that all the list of the record and you know the whole thing is Mitt Romney is factor where the political -- -- pillar -- the past and and there's -- there's an argument that for that but all over the last four or five years.

He's a far better candidate I think at an annual warriors go and and when there's concerns that we've talked about a little bit.

And -- that you here's a candidate.

More establishment type candidate it's a new round his side and then.

The album is him the -- but they clearly -- conservatives would be you know Michelle Bachmann and Rick Santorum Rick Perry.

And -- -- they're closer to Santorum and -- I guess on the others and a personal level -- you serve with them.

So -- does that figure into it.

It just it just makes it harder I mean in a way I know them I like them.

I.

But it -- Yesterday so I got -- -- and end.

You know like and respect them and it and it probably makes it harder to step back and take a look at it from that 20000 -- level.

By the I can't that this this race is about who will be the next president of the United States not whose friend that you would do but make it harder from Atlanta.

So when you look at a that the -- potential endorsement you look at someone who is the purest best.

Conservative candidate or is it someone who can -- do best against Barack Obama in the general election for example.

Very -- at the combination of the two and you know how you weigh each one of those components that you mentioned as a is that there's another harder question to answer.

But hey it's one thing to put all our energy behind somebody that did best embodies the values that I and others agree -- And did it once -- of that effort go -- -- and and make out make a principled argument but not have an impact politically.

I think that they taleo -- in the apple lottery -- 64.

That was the beginning of the modern day conservative movement and -- it was losing effort for Barry Goldwater but it was a winning effort Ronald Reagan.

-- Motorola predicted 64 that Reagan would emerge.

You know -- in sixteen years later to become what he became.

That's typically right and then also today or -- really faced with -- question.

Will one of these very principled conservatives and banging and single digits first along.

Can't they emerge or is -- The fight that lays the parameters were down the road sixteen years.

And temper my viewpoint I don't think we have sixteen years and I -- definitely here I think we need that -- today.

Do you acknowledge it's a molecular Santorum or Bachmann will not get the nomination.

-- it would -- -- -- an active -- if if they did and you know it's not like it's just not gonna happen to them stuff.

The oil and I won't I won't disagree with that analysis I -- just say that there's that happens there each of them that they have articulated.

And one of -- has been that there's a there's two component to candidates here and black pastor presumed that around follows in a category by himself and I don't know that.

-- -- -- -- if you look at the.

Gingrich Romney competition has to wonder where that will come out of that you level -- -- and then.

One -- Bachmann Santorum area that would come out of the other.

Maybe those you end up fighting it out not currently in New Hampshire and beyond New Hampshire.

What about the potential for around the per inning out anyone who -- separate themselves from on -- street candidate that I mentioned.

There's there's -- -- -- for anyone they can paint a scenario they're looking -- they're working -- -- making arguments but it -- -- seem at this point to be unlikely.

Which -- representative Steve king of I would did you learn anything from having endorsed Fred Thompson last time around.

Later -- again.

And at first I data broker regret a single minute that I -- working for the print out and campaign.

I thought that I mean that endorsement too late and here we are much later than at.

And -- -- -- I -- I don't know I think I learned that connect on -- evidently.

Now also.

So just do the travels and a fifty count that we did in Iowa and Thompson bus tour and then -- went South Carolina -- -- -- members get to enter.

South Carolina for a couple of weeks all of that just it gives it personnel are real good experience -- -- presidential race is like let it sit and make -- -- Yeah you know -- Go -- and a.

The so I apply that now and I thought I should have made an endorsement earlier and I haven't gotten my assumption conviction I also believe that that endorsement -- conviction that -- just be.

Claim -- out of Panthers heading into Atlanta needs to be a conviction in my case at least another you know.

You know the pundits are saying.

Almost on massive Ron Paul wins the Iowa primary somehow renders Iowa irrelevant going forward do you subscribe to them.

Well if I had a secret believe I can subscribe to that publicly on the TV and candid answer.

Let it well.

Thought I did not gonna you know and into the places yeah.

Definitely it but our question there's no doubt about it and I and I don't think people should be Judy they hear your question because I don't like to answer.

But I look at said that that Ron Paul playing lateral so far -- -- -- if he wins Iowa -- -- deserves credit for winning.

Haven't ended rules are written generally not so much for justice -- they are produce a particular result people that write the rules.

-- results and they'll rewrite the rules the next primary interpret -- this time.

But haven't really question it doesn't -- Iowa.

More relevant -- -- as the Victor.

You know I -- think that history will decide and I don't think we can certainly not before the caucus and probably not immediately after we'll have to see how this nomination process plays out.

And then how the next candidate you I'll -- the next time around -- for -- years I think that's the fair way to look at this and government -- -- called standpoint I don't wanna take anything away from him.

I'm the united agree on foreign policy and I am not an isolationist and I don't believe that we should our -- -- Everglades and the world to -- impact of the fifty states.

I think -- -- so horrible vacuum of power that would be -- by the Chinese and many other power without being challenged.

And then we get drug under the world stage I'll I'll there's Spanish American war -- 98.

First world war Second World War much blood and treasure grandstand.

And we are now -- superpower in the world and do that you create an -- locally by order of the commanders -- I think would be a colossal mistake and probably the biggest mistake.

And I guess -- -- leaning -- a call endorsement in Iowa.

I have reservations about foreign policy.

Dudley -- Steve king of Iowa one final thing is what what do you think the Republican chances are beating Barack Obama.

-- -- -- I was -- a couple of months ago that they're excellent.

And I think some -- -- -- we handle this sounds there's unemployment extension and that payroll tax extension.

Gives president a better chance at reelection.

And that -- many dynamics unfold between now and election time so.

I think -- have more to do with the first -- -- -- channel Republicans raised the issue all water percent repeal obamacare is that going to be the issue.

It sure will be -- I meaning that they about it.

If it's not gonna have a lot harder time being Barack Obama.

Congressman appreciate your time as always thank you so much you coming on tonight.

Thank you sir thanks very much representative Steve king of Iowa.
