Hot -- down -- Iowa continues tonight as -- now only six days away from the caucuses.
Hi I'm Marc -- in tonight -- -- today you Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
Embarked on a nonstop media marathon as he attempts to make his message directly to the people of Iowa.
And as he spoke with citizens and reporters across the Hawkeye State.
This -- is a -- to shift from his fellow GOP contenders to the man he hopes to face in the general election president Barack Obama.
His -- had to say this morning on FOX & Friends.
My messages out there are loud and clear I want people to recognize this is an election not just about replacing a president.
It's an election about the soul of America is the president gonna turn us into an entitlement society like Europe.
Where we get a -- that kind of American nation with with a merit society an opportunity -- that's driven us to be that the hope -- the earth and of course the hope for the people of this country and I represented a letter.
President Obama represents the former I think -- say a classic opportunity for the American people to make a choice.
Governor Romney continues to -- -- -- of the failed in Iowa and his lead in the critical primary state of New Hampshire has increased in recent days.
And some are going -- I'm sure -- must win race for team Romney hit with a view from the ground in the granite state.
Is New Hampshire -- in my very -- -- -- and Romney campaign suppose that Kelly -- -- -- -- -- great to have you with us.
-- remark you've been on -- -- -- where in fact governor Romney in New Hampshire.
He didn't win the -- in 2000 -- what's what's changed this time round.
Well I was just let him yesterday campaigning in New Hampshire yet overflow crowds and the enthusiasm for his candidacy you can see it.
-- he's really resonate the New Hampshire voters he's been here tremendous amount he's working very hard he's having those traditional New Hampshire town hall meetings.
And so I think -- when you see the broad support he has here he's doing very well.
This phrase he used this morning on FOX & Friends about the soul of America.
That's what a lot of the base.
-- it once fight -- who understands the primal nature of this election in November and they -- and there's been a kind of enthusiasm gap.
In -- of governor Romney's numbers they've they've kind of stayed around twenty to 25% -- thing that's changed in recent days.
On the ground in the granite state do.
Well I can tell you that I saw the enthusiasm there and our country can't take four more years of Barack Obama.
And so governor Romney's message is really resonating with New Hampshire voters of talking about.
America and what needs to happen -- our country that we are a land of opportunity and when you think about where this president has put us.
Diminished opportunity.
Fewer jobs and all the debt that he's accumulated -- Mitt Romney is really hitting that message in New Hampshire voters and making sure that they know.
-- -- his administration we will have fiscal responsibility and people get to work.
I think folks understand the the business background of the governor and and his time in the private sector that they they tend to get worried about other things.
Your strong pro life candidate -- were were endorsed by pro life organizations.
You you said just a few months ago isn't it great today a principled pro life candidate.
Can win in the northeast.
I think it is great but tab but governor Romney was kind of a little bit more equivocal -- Matt when he -- said -- one point arriving in 2002 running for governor.
I will protect him because a woman's right to choose Ted Kennedy famously said I'm pro choice Mitt Romney is multiple choice who you persuaded by his.
Conversion on the -- edition.
Well I can tell you on that only pro life woman in the senate I take this issue very seriously on the mother of two children.
And I've spoken to him personally about this issue and he has strong this convictions.
About protecting life and so I certainly know that he will carry those convictions to the White House.
And how do you feel about.
-- -- -- which is.
Again according to some the big millstone around his -- -- -- in southern New Hampshire a lot of general practitioners in southern New Hampshire are picking up a lot of extra customers.
I'm from Massachusetts -- get to see a primary care physician in their own state had a thing Romney Kaz gonna play with the -- of New Hampshire.
Well governor Romney -- -- come out and said that he would repeal obamacare that is the biggest issue.
For voters in New Hampshire as this one size fits all government mandate coming from Washington Washington telling us what to do.
And New Hampshire voters don't appreciate that and governor Romney's very strong on that as soon as he gets -- -- office he'll make sure that we do not fund.
Obama care and also as we go forward -- the health care act that we will work to repeal it and get it done as soon as possible.
And I look forward to supporting him in that effort.
When you look at some of the -- other candidates in the race I mean wrong poll is that in the lead in the Iowa polls.
And aides say this the cliche now that if there is heavy snowstorm he's gonna wind has his guys are motivated -- and I gonna get out that.
Is that -- destabilize.
The primary race in New Hampshire is -- -- wrong poll constituency.
In -- state.
Well certainly Ron Paul does very well in New Hampshire -- -- -- the live free or die state.
In -- recent poll that came out today he was in second but far behind governor Romney.
New Hampshire voters also wants someone who's going to be strong on national security.
In the tradition of Ronald Reagan and governor Romney is very very strong on national security.
On knowing that we need to protect America and I think that's going to be a central issue as well in New Hampshire voters mind and he had -- He's he he has a home in it wolf Barack.
-- I'm a resident of New Hampshire and after -- have -- many decades it is that I'm still a flat land is that he's.
Romney accepted as one of -- one of your right and in in in the Satan in wolf where.
Well we're very glad to have by CNN and wolf Borough but as you know mark mark.
It takes a long time to become an actual resident I was born in New Hampshire is so we take that very seriously but we are proud to have him in wolf Borough.
And you add add add last time -- wolf -- -- women.
But but McCain.
John McCain seem to have kind of more appeal to that.
Crusty cranky contrarian spirit there's this theory that.
New Hampshire contest.
Endorse what comes out of Iowa in a sense to protect its brand as the first in the nation primary.
It it has to -- the story on a bit so in effect from from from the point of view of New Hampshire is having its brand.
It might actually be useful -- -- pole won Iowa and gave the chance for the granite state to do something a little different.
Well New Hampshire -- are going to look at each candidate on their own merits regardless of what any other state does.
And as you know mark we take the vetting of the candidates very seriously.
Expect you to come here and answer the hard questions and Mitt Romney has done that he's had the town hall meetings.
I would say in a very active here I was out with him yesterday he's answering the questions.
He's coming back to New Hampshire on Friday so that's really important and it won't matter what other states do in Hampshire voters are gonna make up their own minds.
I -- and I just just quickly -- -- that they old cliche -- -- for a candidate unless -- balance within at least four times.
God's truth I got the -- -- I acts like you know I have those on the bus of them so I think he's he's a good dancer.
And now that's good and tells me as well and you know that's the thing -- spending a day and a half on the bus -- yet and they're wonderful people they have great integrity.
And it will be great role models in the White House -- get a suit so you imagine -- that's a big thank you read about seven -- -- -- putts live from new -- --
