-- woman Michelle Bachmann won the Ames straw poll here in August and just finished campaigning and all of Iowa's 99 -- -- congresswoman welcome back to year.
Before we get to the Ron Paul -- -- when asked about the de Moines register poll.
Which has you quite frankly.
7% running last among the six candidates seriously contesting Iowa.
Do you have any hard evidence that the poll is wrong and if you're gonna do much better than not on Tuesday.
What evidence that we -- has of those nine and I counted tour that we just completed his very ambitious but we -- huge crowds we have 25300.
People come out -- -- -- And what we saw literally Chris -- that I wouldn't thousands of people making conversions on the spot and it was frankly after the fox debate in Sioux City.
People were really were very grateful I think they sought and meet someone who can take it to Barack Obama.
In the debate hold him accountable.
And in particular when I was -- Ron Paul.
On his dangerous policies on allowing a nuclear Iran that turned a light switch on for a lot of voters across Iowa.
And people who weren't decided to sign it and we have a lot of people are gonna come on Tuesday night.
Who are undecided and what they've seen in me as a champion -- can stand up for them.
And in particular they -- that of all the candidates in the race.
And the only one with current national security experience our next president will be tested almost immediately look at what's happening in the Strait of Hormuz right now if Iran.
I'm off I'm prepared to be able to meet that challenge that's what our next president will have to do.
But don't you have a a big disadvantage -- rivals are spending millions of dollars in campaign commercials some positive some negative.
You have not won a single.
TV commercials sends Iowa in Ames back on August until today when you're gonna run commercials the last two days.
Before the caucuses is and her campaign running on fumes.
Well what we're doing is -- running out of power of meeting with Iowans directly islands are very independent people and we made a very Smart decision.
We put 6900.
Miles on our campaign has.
And we've met with people -- people everywhere across -- living rooms and it included dinky cafe -- Decatur city Iowa we've been everywhere.
And people really appreciated that people told us no other candidate has come here you're the only candidate that is not reflected -- -- And I think that's what you people are going to see on Tuesday night we saw a lot of enthusiast.
All right let's let's talk about some -- that is reflected in the -- view and Governor Perry and former senator Rick Santorum.
Are all going after -- some of the same voters evangelicals.
And the social conservatives.
Why would you make a better nominee and a better president.
Then Rick Santorum who is we see in the to Moines register poll is making a big light -- By a very strong support among evangelicals I think of all the candidates I have more pastor endorsements than any other candidate and we had a caravan of pastors go all across Iowa making the case why I would be the candidate and an unassailable record and standing up for protecting life.
Marriage religious liberty I'm also had a record when it comes to fiscal policy.
I it was the only person who stood up this last summer.
And said no we can't allow Barack Obama to increase the debt ceiling in other words increase.
The amount that reporting on the credit card but a party usually why does that make you better than Santorum was pretty strong and a lot of those issues -- Won't take a look at senator Santorum senator Santorum lost his last election by a wider margin than any other sitting Republican senator.
He lost that race I've won four races -- last four years in the toughest years for Republicans in a liberal state like Minnesota.
I want but also if you look at the spending issue senator Santorum voted for the bridge to nowhere.
He's a defended earmarks he is he he he is spending which is the number one issue.
He has been a big spender in Washington DC that's not what the American people are looking for they want someone who's a fiscal conservative I'm a tax lawyer.
Who's gone to Washington to fight the out of control spending my record is one of being a fiscal conservative as opposed to an.
I'm not trashing the candidates it's just a point of clarity senator Santorum has stood for earmarks stood for spending that's not what we want we have to look at our record.
Let me ask you about your record since you came to congress you've gotten almost four million dollars in earmarks for your district.
And when Republicans the Republican leadership wanted to moratorium on -- -- You were one of the very few who said no I want an exception for transportation projects now aren't -- anything that's not larger hands also a little dirty when it comes to -- Actually that is not true -- I took an earmark pledge during my very first year in office.
And I am I have been earmark free because I saw from the very first you've got animals four million dollars in -- -- the very first Gerry came and I put the requests and and then I found out what this earmark system as a box and I I took pleasure in that first term.
I've never questioned other earmarks sense and I won't.
And the bigger issue and all of this is Harvard going to continue to it it didn't increase the credit card limit in Washington.
And I'm the only voice in Washington that is said no to increasing that credit card -- Several Iowa pastor is appealed to you and to Governor Perry and to Rick Santorum.
One or two of -- to drop out so that all of the social conservative -- co allows.
I want a long around one candidate now you all have your rights and you all -- -- no you wanted to.
Pursue your campaigns but will it be a big defeat.
For social conservatives and -- -- issues.
On Tuesday it does a result of the splintering of this vote on Mitt Romney or Ron Paul ends up winning on.
No I think what we're going to see actually is a coming together of people on the issues because they want not just -- a single issue candidate.
They want the full complement of a candidate -- of all the candidates in the race.
I'm the strongest physical fiscal conservative.
I'm a private business woman who created a successful company and I run it to this day.
And I'm a federal tax learn ever ever proven record in congress on fiscal issues but.
I'm the strongest candidate on social issues unassailable the strongest -- and national security.
I started the Tea Party caucus in Washington and led 40000 Americans to Washington to object to obamacare I have the best record of any candidate.
I'm fighting illegal immigration and its effects I'm a full complement candidate that's of people want.
Someone with a firm resolve.
And that's what I've brought to Washington I'm I'm proven and tested and they want someone in a legacy of Reagan and I proved that in Washington.
I don't mean in Iraq but I want to give Governor Perry some time and I want to ask you about the issue I just talked it to congressman Paul about.
You're Iowa State chair Kent Sorenson a state senator -- jump ship went to work at last Wednesday.
44 Ron Paul.
You claimed that he told to do that it was about money.
But then when your deputy campaign manager a -- and -- -- said no that's not true wasn't about money he was let go.
Is your campaign and has the right.
Oh absolutely not it you -- that other part that you -- report is that there are other people outside the campaign.
Who said that he also told them that -- receive money is that this is pretty clear the bigger issue and all this so Chris.
Is the fact that after the fox debate.
We had tremendous momentum which continues to this day because people saw how dangerous Ron Paul's policy is if he would allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon.
That would put the United States at risk.
That's why we saw literally thousands of people jump ship and come aboard my campaign and that's -- river and see reflected on Tuesday night.
Congresswoman Bachmann want to thank you so much for coming in on this first day of 2012 good luck to you -- you and happy -- -- you and all the facts fingers thank you.
