So what did Democrats think about the Iowa caucus results.
The chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee congressman Debbie Wasserman Schultz joins me again gallons have spirited discussion so.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Retail that's always a good morning to you but I know you were sticking it out in I was well trying to get the president's message out as most of the focus was on the Republicans.
And now is -- the worst nightmare for Democrats at Mitt Romney walks away with a win in Iowa because you have spent most of your time.
Attacking only -- wrong.
I I think it was a pretty bad night actually ferret from Mitt Romney a great night for us we used.
Last night and the months leading up to last night as a test run for.
Building what will be the most significant effective grassroots presidential campaign in history -- 25000.
Islands -- up to caucuses.
All across the state.
Listen to president that President Obama -- live stream into those caucus sites had an opportunity to ask him some questions and had 7500.
To volunteer on the campaign and move forward to -- starting today right to help him win Iowa and win non of them.
It's the same time there's a record -- really great night at the same time there's a record -- for Republicans 122200.
And 55 -- stands and lawyers -- it was -- record turnout but I guess my question is.
How can it not the bad news for you that Mitt Romney wins Iowa because ten days ago.
He thought he was -- witnessing now is gonna go into New Hampshire where people think that he will be.
The inevitable winner there.
And this is not good news for the president because otherwise you wouldn't continue to attack only -- round.
No you see Mitt Romney has earned that scrutiny because he has relentlessly attack the president mischaracterized his record distorted the president's record.
A -- for Mitt Romney it's sad I really tough situation for him because when is quote unquote win a loss.
When you spent six years and -- more than four million dollars running for the second time trying to win the state of Iowa.
And you spent the most and only beat the person who spent the least by eight votes.
That that demonstrates just how little support there is on the Republican side and -- little enthusiasm there is the Mitt Romney's candidacy.
And he's out limping into New Hampshire around I think he's really damaged.
What about the -- it damaged you just want -- -- but anyway.
-- what about the enthusiasm for President Obama -- Iowa against the person who spent the least not quite a victory because the enthusiasm our President Obama in Iowa is there's doesn't seem to be a tremendous amount of enthusiasm if we look at this latest poll right now that shows he.
Approval rating.
Amongst Iowa voters polled 45% approve of President Obama 43%.
Disapprove and if we can go immediately to the Rasmussen poll.
The latest one that shows the head to head between President Obama and Mitt Romney this is a national poll now.
And it shows that Mitt Romney would -- President Obama 45%.
To 39%.
When you make of those.
I I haven't seen that -- -- recent poll that I'm familiar with shows head to head that President Obama beats any of the Republicans in the field and.
I'll tell you if you look at the -- -- you if you're questioning the enthusiasm in Iowa or across the country but particularly in Iowa for the president's campaign.
I look at the same situation that George W.
Bush found himself in that when he was running for reelection.
That that big turnouts for him at those caucuses was was abysmal nothing like the 25000 islands that we -- show up last night our caucus sites.
We've made 350000.
Calls into Iowa and important to our supporters.
We've got 4001.
On one meetings that we've already had 12100.
Meetings.
House parties training sessions and that's all in an effort through our eighth.
Officers around the state of Iowa -- the next door that we have -- significant grassroots campaign it will need to win this state again.
And that's -- all the Republican candidates close up shop today.
Will continue to expand our outreach and our operation here and the like and every about ground state run an effective grassroots campaign what is.
The strategy for the DNC moving forward will we see more people like Randy Johnson.
Who came out a former employee who Mitt Romney got let go from Bain Capital.
I will be seeing more people like that the DNC will sponsor to come out and speak out against Mitt Romney.
You'll definitely see at us at every opportunity helping.
Iowans and Americans understand.
That Mitt Romney it has very little conviction that the conviction that he has is to.
Boost corporate America and -- the wealthiest most fortunate Americans that this is a person who has no conviction and willing to go from saying that in 2002 -- recently as 2000 -- That he supported Roe vs.
Wade in a woman's right to season now says he's pro life.
Who has really run as parts.
The right as possible let's let's keep our -- in mosquito doesn't is that as the reason that you pull out Randy Johnson because he can you were trying to say that he was let go and that made Mitt -- on her sunglasses Arizona Cardinals lose jobs but this I -- listen to what Mitt Romney said about your boss was that.
This is a president who lost more jobs during his tenure than any president since Hoover we created more jobs and Massachusetts.
That this president's created in the entire country.
So the president wants to talk about jobs that I hope he does would be comparing my record with his record and he comes up very very short.
And our research shows that from 2009 to now one point 855.
We have one point 855 million fewer jobs.
Under President Obama than before he took office of Halloween combat -- thankful.
Gretchen first that followed Mitt Romney has absolutely no facts and hence.
Every yet in fact checked that's been done he's has not corroborated any of what you said about his job creation.
When he was governor of Massachusetts.
They were 47 out of fifty in the entire country for job creation.
So Mitt Romney -- and isn't being truthful when it -- when he's talking about his record on job creation vs the president's.
We've had 22 straight months of job growth in the private sector.
Under president Obama's leadership we've gone from bleeding 750000.
Jobs a month when he took office.
Thanks to Republican policies -- now thirty years later we began to turn the economy around.
The unemployment rate is coming down.
We we've had almost three million jobs created in 22 straight months so well stocked up president Obama's job creation record vs Mitt Romney who was -- I'd -- specialist at Bain Capital in dismantling companies.
And cutting jobs and right forcing a corporate big businesses into bankruptcy and the flip side I get that job creation record any data that side of that is our research also shows that -- -- created 150000.
Jobs when he was in that well I I had there's no one has backed that up an actual facts.
All right well we did a W -- -- insults at the end of the DNC thanks so much for your time this morning and come.
