Welcome back.
The Iowa Caucuses coming down the wire last night with Mitt Romney edging out Rick Santorum for first place by eight.
Votes but another major story that hasn't gone unnoticed is -- strong third place showing by Texas congressman Ron Paul.
And -- some length his take on how he did last night is Texas congressman a Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul good morning to congressman.
Good morning nice to if you.
I saw that you're in -- very upbeat mood during your speech last night with your son and family standing behind you.
Of people predicted that you would be in the top three and you ended up being third are you disappointed you weren't first or second.
Of course everybody likes to get you know come on on top I don't think we can be real disappointed.
Certainly with that crowd in the enthusiasm of the supporters -- the volunteers.
And how how much enthusiasm is with them with all -- young people -- -- I can't be disappointed with that.
That also means that that we have a lot of work to do we have to continue to build them.
But I I thought -- results for very good we dig you very well with independent voters and everybody knew we would do very well with.
People who are between eighteen in the thirties out that came through but the thing I thought was very interesting is it is it's true that when -- look at my vote about a half of them were considered very conservative but the other half we considered moderate.
And I think my positions I hold for limited government -- support is very attractive.
Across the board and New Hampshire you know there -- a lot of independents are more registered.
Independence that they are Republicans or Democrats -- we're looking forward to New Hampshire but anyway heavily after Newt Gingrich has to Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich is -- said some nice things about you but he by some bad things to say about your foreign policy.
Let's listen.
We also have to understand this will be a major debate with congressman Paul was at a very good night and I congratulate him having done very well.
Fact is his views on foreign policy.
I think are stunningly dangerous for the survival of the United States.
And your reaction there.
So well he -- read the constitution find out what we're exposed to be -- that's supposed to be the policeman of the world.
We're not supposed to start preemptive war and win an occupied country.
While we look to George Bush's advice he ran in 2001 by saying we should have a humble foreign policy.
We shouldn't be the policeman of the world we should be in the nation building that he's taken on George Bush he's taken on the founders of this country he's taken on Robert -- he's taken on.
President Eisenhower who warned us.
About bankrupting this country.
And and negative kowtowing to the military industrial complex of the flights -- undermining our national defense other foreign policy expert agrees with you.
The American people on their experts say have to pay for and have to dodge Ford -- 5% of Americans -- forcing him.
Come on come home -- soldiers just the soldiers I mean why don't I am an opinion they have to risk airlines.
And -- they gave me more money.
Then the rest twice as much as all the other candidate.
Why why is that ignored don't they have a -- shouldn't they be able to -- in reverse and you know who give us an opinion.
So people if you -- -- out you do it at risk because this is analyst -- our country Bancroft who so we can't afford it.
We didn't beat the Soviets with a nuclear war we beat the Soviets because they were ruined economically and that's what we're on the verge of doing to ourselves speaking.
-- risk governor former Governor Sarah Palin last night had some words about you she said that the Republicans better not marginalized.
Ron Paul and his supporters because their physical concerns are very legitimate and the Republicans better work with them.
Your reaction of that.
That she's a very wise woman.
I would say that.
And Ahmad proposal it if you look carefully give me my dude I'm -- -- -- -- any real cuts because most people who have paid any attention to our budgetary debate.
They're just talking about cotton token cuts -- increase spending.
And I'm talking about real cuts on the don't want to propose a trillion dollars cut one year severe fiscal conservatives hockey you blow that off.
-- and she's right she's giving honest opinion.
That is the big issue the debt is the big issue right now -- -- not guess welfare spending here home.
It's across the board increase it also includes all -- spending overseas and -- Corsican tied up.
That's the easiest place to -- overseas spending.
And take care of people who have become dependent on the government here at home do you think governor Rick Perry Michelle Bachmann should drop out.
-- -- ha ha yeah I don't think I should tell -- what they should do.
I think they should do -- they wanted to learn knowing that that's generally the way that's generally the way we do things that.
Now I think I think they they'll have to make their own decision what congratulations three tickets out of Iowa and the conventional wisdom and you were in the top three congratulations Ron Paul fortress like today from -- thanks for having me on that thank you.
