Well -- live free or die for these six guys looking to stay alive at New Hampshire it's pretty much all of us.

Hi everyone glad to have -- deals that I went out in the rearview mirror it is on nonstop drive to New Hampshire but what do the Hawkeye granite -- having common.

But with unemployment rates that are well below the national average so if jobs aren't so good there why.

This economy still the main issue for voters there and pretty much everywhere.

Here could be a hit it is into the grocery store -- Depends on the Vegas.

This is Steve and Charles Payne but I want to thank Charles -- for filling in our last week not once -- But I digress.

But as a real big putts on the transport and you're not -- ultimately.

It wouldn't -- -- All right.

Here's what he stands on this issue is -- the economy is it it is it is -- -- -- for the president that it is.

Absolutely Joe Horn -- the president -- I have been to a grocery store lately as you might give that up.

You get everything you want -- grocery store by the way I'm not that it notably missing.

I'll let you know the jobs thing as well as wanting but the reality stars might not have standards Charles but we do now continue to prevent you know that the bottom line -- -- -- and everyone watching this -- the dollar goes a lot a lot less further than it did 34 years ago the house is worth a lot less than it was three -- four years ago.

The uncertainty about the futures just about the same as it was 34 years ago so that's why the economy is front center Americans are still very very very afraid -- -- -- they're proud of you made this thing.

-- -- -- -- -- -- By the way if you got Fox Business you would know we're talking about it about but I'm gonna leave it and then amen and hallelujah praise the lord -- it's about.

As Charles when he -- deflation or falling home prices.

That is one thing that weighs on America's psyche about the economy and to.

It is gas prices and last year average household paid.

A record amount for motor fuel 4100 dollars 4154150.

Dollars.

That is what is weighing on the psyche not just a number of unemployment rate which gets slapped on the front page of -- You know Adam -- don't know if you're the president you're hearing that it states that are doing relatively well by comparison.

Iowa New Hampshire.

And even a socially conservative state like Iowa where in the past abortion has been the top issue -- prayers to the top issue.

And right now.

Visas the economy is the top issue.

Would you worry about that it's near the White House thinking hey these guys are firing on all cylinders and there's still firing at us.

Well I think there had to say that because they're below the the norm in the United States for unemployment is it to save their firing on all cylinders would be two different things -- by.

I I would -- -- out -- answers them.

Yeah I know but they've been to live and I mean they live in the world right they've neighbors in Massachusetts they they have.

Franzen and relatives elsewhere they know that these are tough times.

Relatively speaking having said that.

We all know the politics is about momentum I mean just look at the number if Rick Rick Santorum.

Had -- three weeks ago that he wouldn't have tighter virtually tied Mitt Romney in that caucus.

And he did.

Still the momentum is clearly in the president's favor right now as you pointed as you have pointed out recently -- On the unemployment rate is dropping we did get a healthy jobs report last week.

That's extremely good news for the president and I'm -- -- the Republicans all of the Republicans are.

Are very concerned about that as they should be.

But you know Ben Stein said Charles pains earlier point about -- -- grocery store and and seeing something that does not jibe with.

Official government numbers and that does continent -- a good credit cards at a grocery stores but wait a minute they say there's no inflation but I have seen.

Bob you have everything from a melted cheese to cereals to all of it had double digit increases what world.

As a government living and it doesn't seem my world weren't paying a lot more.

You're exactly right I do the grocery shopping in my -- my life does not like job and I was stunned when I see the -- at the grocery store and when I see the official numbers got me out of the government.

About inflation I just and -- is that they're living in some other universe.

The prices are staggering at the grocery store that is a -- that almost every house why our man.

Actually I found by thousands of confronting every day.

It's breathtaking.

And I had to see that and also to -- that there's still high unemployment there's still a lot of your friends and neighbors you can't get jobs.

What's going on here and China supposedly is slowing down so.

China I guess is getting up to Verizon foods but maybe not as much they -- the -- -- just -- astronomical.

-- -- -- Okay two things one if China in fact slows down that will be the best possible news for this particular conversation commodity prices.

Will fall dramatically if China slows down let's hope China doesn't slow down that wouldn't be good.

For the global economy.

But but but Charles I would challenge you I don't think -- presidential election has ever been decided -- I'm not on you know the price of bread or eggs in the grocers Jimmy Carter again it's why -- -- critics.

The idea is evidence that was massive inflation across the board -- mean that wasn't a question of eggs and milk.

Are you kidding me until the vice president's audience Gerald Ford in 1970 candidate and a guy who beat him.

It will running -- real -- legislators -- and I and a violation.

In play like I -- -- saying I can't blame it only gets a few people but inflation -- every one.

About how to hit everybody I'm saying that's far more important than and the -- gas prices -- are not things well you're wrong -- you might wanna lower in the Carter -- should we pay a record amount of money last year from motor fuel.

Almost -- eight trillion dollars.

Per -- this -- and I do not heard them out of money for motor fuel.

That's how much money came out of America's pocket -- look at it just big gala -- -- get back to the record hit in a way.

As a nation looking at the year -- -- paying more money than Anbar.

For motor fuel Rangel got -- I don't here's -- thing.

At the president's been taking his victory laps and -- payroll tax cut he said something interesting more than once and I almost fell -- my chair the first time he said it.

He said that the payroll tax cut extension was make or break for this country we're talking twenty dollars extra a month -- right for week for a council twenty bucks.

If we get that's -- box according to the president it would have broken our economy that does that sound like a strong economy to me.

So Ben Stein do you look at this and where we stand and the economic numbers that where you and the and the events that could happen you -- China.

What if all of this happens after the election and edited clothes on the president assuming he's reelected -- that kind of scenario.

But it doesn't happen before -- them.

Well I don't I don't think -- kind you'll fall apart I don't think I think there's a lot of ruin animation as Adam Smith said and it got heroes on how good -- But I think the big government is ignoring -- -- -- the fact that consumers are just furious about -- grocery prices especially.

When they see their home prices collapsing are they can't sell the house at all.

I think this grocery -- thing is a big big issue and I think whichever Republican glom onto it was gonna make a lot of progress.
