We don't -- off a win -- the first place yes that would be a good goal.
And -- people ask me why I run in you know -- run to win and I haven't won a lot but we also.
Want to help direct the party in the country in a certain ways so.
That would be a very very positive strategy to have an influence in the party.
That was Texas congressman Ron Paul on FOX News Sunday with Chris Wallace explaining why he runs.
And we are here in New Hampshire this is power play.
Welcome back to Saint Anselm College Internet.
And thank you to AB Stoddard executive editor of the bill for remaining with us to provide good shepherding for us and now welcome Gary Howard.
-- the campaign communications director for the Ron Paul for president campaign while -- its revenue.
Okay so.
New Hampshire is I wrote today that -- Marries for love but New Hampshire is a little bit more.
Calculating in its choices.
And certainly congressman Paul seems to be benefiting from that because even folks.
He he -- found a way to grow his number here because even folks who maybe are not down the line all the way with him.
Want like the message that he would send to the party do you think there's truth in that.
Oh yeah I think it's it's it's very true and it's a true across across the nation -- New -- is particularly.
Live free or die state a lot of people agree with this his views and economics in -- and a lot of people's religious views of foreign policy.
And he's been able to grow steadily in the polls I think he's probably the only candidates who stayed steady -- -- fallen behind instant steadily -- companies and solve the second place for a -- Now there's been a lot of buzz yesterday and today about congressman's -- to Chris Wallace yesterday on FOX News Sunday.
That we just heard where he said look if I don't win I'm going to go to the convention I'm gonna be able to shape the platform.
I'm going to be able to have I have an effect to basically what he's saying where as the other not Romney.
Candidates.
Are saying I'm gonna win you've got to give it to me to win Ron Paul saying first second third whatever I'm gonna continue to -- delegates and I'm gonna be part of the discussion.
Well it's because he -- in a lot of people view the other candidates -- status quo.
If you go through them you can go freak anyone of them it'll do the same thing but even if we get out a place at the table and get influenced debate.
Okay right now.
-- you've you've been out here and and we were just talking in the previous segment about that libertarian streak here in New Hampshire and about how.
We've seen in the polls are a rise for congressman Paul I wanna go back to this this question that I asked you before.
On the message what does it tell the rest of the Republicans in this country if Ron Paul is a clear second place here in New Hampshire if the polls -- I think that -- Ron Paul as a contender he has admitted that he does not want to -- third party ticket.
So he's admitted that he's not going to derail the Republican novel doesn't want to -- and doesn't want is that is that is that and is that he -- he doesn't want to there's an interview because anybody can say -- -- or whether or so says that is a really important because he alone no longer becomes a threat that could help reelect President Obama.
So what Republicans I think -- sighing in relief at the same as they see him making strong showing you know throughout the contest at the same time.
He he is going to remain a factor.
At the convention he's going to push for you know I -- that at a place at the table.
They're going to have to -- to take seriously his strong views on monetary policy are in a Federal Reserve.
And and beyond.
And -- and and there's -- spending cuts because the Republicans in congress right now are not able to significantly cut spending even as she party won.
At this historic majority.
In last year's mid term election so Ron Paul is going to have a seat at the table.
And there or whoever the nominee is we'll have to take seriously.
His supporters.
These other people that you're seeing ways save consumers.
They can really really -- -- and important seated two tables grape -- trying to win at the moment the most important thing for the out ultimate nomination now is that.
You know we talk to people who support Rick Santorum or someone is not right Mitt Romney -- -- you all about them at their criticism of Romney -- also confessed to the end of the conversation that they're gonna vote for Romney because they cannot stand president of -- right.
Ron Paul supporters don't know you'll probably want to vote will they won't get in the car for -- -- -- candidate unless he's at the table.
President of heat will be a force to be reckoned with in the -- I don't know why so Gary what's the next day look like for congressman Paul in the rest of -- -- -- four -- campaign what are you guys gonna do in New Hampshire.
We're gonna keep doing same thing we denial we're gonna.
Strong grassroots organizing.
Getting people out get people energized and want to the next contest okay and -- South Carolina and south Carolina's next contest -- you guys but not Florida you guys are keeping more of a focus done.
Invent world where we'll play -- of Florida at Florida.
Everybody knows -- are -- to play where we've got a grassroots organization going on there too it's just we're probably not gonna put as many resources and florists say.
Mitt Romney or maybe you Rick Perry if they have resources -- million and a half dollars a week to stay on television in five markets and Florida.
What will we -- we we were looking that we're now looking at the BCS game we're looking at how did you have that's all we're gonna go and play it's a playoff we have want to contest so it.
Captures going to be tomorrow south Carolina's next quarters after that we we hope to ride the momentum and keep going and yes we're gonna -- Florida.
We're just reduce its set not our our plan now Gary Garrett I really appreciate you saying that -- -- reminded me of the mountaineers crushing victory -- brilliant Orange Bowl and put away some of my -- came from last night.
I really appreciate appreciate you making time for us today thanks Evan -- have fun out there in New Hampshire right.
