Last night Mitt Romney won big in New Hampshire and he joins us from the granite state right now -- governor congratulations.
Thank you you -- we have had now do South Carolina currently in the real clear politics average of polls you're leading by ten.
Back in 2008.
He to bring us up came in fourth you did.
How -- -- going to be different around this time.
Well I hope they're gonna be different I -- be sure that you are right I I have an uphill climb in South Carolina.
Given by a track record there I got a great -- from New Hampshire last night.
Very solid win of course Iowa as well give me a boost and I had to get down to South Carolina I'll be there today talking about my vision of making America an opportunity society again with good jobs rising incomes.
At a much smaller government so.
I'll be out their cell in this message and hopefully get support.
Governor -- -- must be specially gratifying -- you so crestfallen when he lost to John McCain last time around in in never really got in your feet again in New Hampshire it's a different story now.
But as you head to South Carolina something else is guaranteed.
That you daisy Bain Capital and your approach to business is gonna be questioned there's gonna be looked to be defined.
How do you feel I know last -- you mentioned you disappointed Republicans are bringing up.
But regardless how do you feel about defending your days of -- I feel great about it I'm very proud of the fact that we help start -- number of businesses help people realize their dreams.
Over a 100000 jobs created over my tenure at Bain Capital.
Look look I'm I'm very pleased with the fact that.
We're talking about free enterprise I know there are people in this country that want to make the government the the source of our economic vitality I think that's the wrong way to go.
I believe in free enterprise and freedom and opportunity.
And I frankly think members of my own party who may be desperate of their campaigns tried to attack free enterprise and are making an enormous mistake for themselves and for the country.
But your campaign and you yourself must've been stunned.
That these attacks came out now not only from your Republican colleagues but but but -- -- in general because your strong point -- running for president.
Has been the people believe you can fix -- economy.
And you have this massive private have business experience to be able to do that now that that is under attack a lot of critics are saying you need to come out front.
And be more aggressive in defending your time at Bain Capital will you do that.
Well I get a chance to talk about a great deal almost every day and I think that's a good thing you know I'm I'm very proud of the fact.
That that we help starts a business of summer well known names like a staples the sports authority.
Bright -- children setters even a new steel factory in the middle of of Indiana.
And collectively they alone built some 100000 jobs so.
I'm I'm pleased with -- record and you know I think cat as you look at the people who are attacking me.
They've never worked in the private sector they've never created a single job and so it's kind of funny to it to see people bringing this attack but you know I'm ready for.
And and think that people understand that -- me they have a candidate that understands how the economy works.
And the other guys are fine fellows but they spent their entire life and government that's not the kind of preparation for the White House I think it.
They did today well one guy who has not been in government his whole life he was a doctor for a while Ron Paul came in a strong second.
There in New Hampshire compared to the other candidates.
He actually defended you -- yesterday against a number of the people who of referred to vulture capitalists and stuff like that he says I think they're wrong -- either just demagoguing or they don't have the vaguest idea how the market works.
Governor -- what do you say to you know I've heard a number of people on the radio and on television saying it at this point it looks like Newt Gingrich -- so mad.
That you ran those negative ads up against him that he will do anything including -- in the kitchen sink at -- to stop yeah.
Well you know I appreciate the comments of Ron -- I think he's right I saw Jack Welch also former CEO of GE.
Talking about my experience of that in the business world.
I appreciate those who are looking at this honestly.
And if we have differences on policy what you know that's the ballot for us to discuss but.
These attacks from the speaker and from Rick Perry you know I expect that come on what people find their campaigns are having some difficulty they look for a new course.
I don't think it worked I think the evidence from.
From New Hampshire last night where the speaker and and and Rick Perry were both in single digits.
Suggests this kind of attack on free enterprise is simply not.
Gaining traction for the right and finally as you -- thankfully.
Our economy seems sure improving we seem to that a jobs -- our deployments.
Close -- I eight point 5% and that is 9% if that keeps happening.
Are you concerned that the economy won't be a major issue in your main reason.
For running will be taken from you.
Well I hope it continues to happen I hope we get more people back to work -- a lot of people suffering in this country.
And this recovery has been the most tepid since Hoover.
And president Obama's policies have not sped up the recovery every recession ends and we have a recovery.
This that is -- got -- -- wait too long and I think his policies on almost every single dimension.
Have made the recession deeper.
Have made the recovery slower.
And -- met more people I've had to suffer and and for that reason I think he's demonstrated he does not know how to run the economy.
If I'm president I will make sure that America once again is the best place in the world for ought to put doors for innovators for job creators.
And -- -- you right now lead South Carolina with 30% of the vote in the early polling.
But the hard work is really just beginning it is and how is the movie like news yesterday we saw that you went to Mission Impossible for right thing.
Yeah I I yeah I wanted to see a movie about president Obama's reelection campaign that was about as close.
Like I've got but that's.
Oh yeah coming up -- -- -- that -- really imagine all right I -- governor -- we'll talk to again probably after South Carolina it's not just for good to see you congratulations again.
-- stretch of the Bryant Steve good to be with you this morning didn't -- you.
