-- everyone we are America's election headquarters of one of the races were watching for.
-- the senate is a seat being vacated by retiring Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas she's been a standard for more than twenty years in that state and there's been quite a battle.
For the GOP nomination there the reason why this battle so cornyn is because over the Republican nominee.
Is is likely to win that season's Texas is -- reliable.
Reliably -- is saying red state.
Among those trying to get the job it's a familiar face joining us for his first live national interview on this topic Craig James a former NFL player announcer freest the end.
And now -- Republican candidate for the senate so crank.
Why this question why now.
Well good morning Jenna.
You know -- I've many times been in front of people but as a football player and as -- broadcast how proud of those accomplishments.
But Jenna over the next few months and then get out and share with people in Texas where I come from and who lie and a what I believe that.
You'll hear three things coming from -- that I believe strongly in god -- god.
Family -- family.
And the constitution is a constitution.
And -- when people have heard the message over the last few weeks as we started this campaign.
That I came from an apartment background I read the eviction notice on the apartment doors had to learn tough lessons is that little boy.
I ate the mandates only -- which is you know.
America gave me a chance to work my way out I want to preserve that country I wanna get back to the -- to the principles.
Of the constitution and the greatness of this country.
Okay so that being said what's your number one priority if you make it to the senate you make it to the big games and -- in Washington DC what's the number one.
High priority in the top your list that you want to bring change to.
-- head down in full passion.
Get government to understand and respect and adhere to the constitution.
It's the greatest system -- this country has ever -- 8000 words or less it's our playbook for how we are supposed to act.
And treat each other it's also the way.
That the government is supposed to look at the rules that they are to abide by so when I get there I'm not going to conform and be a part of -- congenial men and women's club.
I'm going up there to rock the boat.
-- the -- out of the bushes and get those folks to understand the constitution is important to you -- to meet my kids.
Your kids at an end up and the people who are walking the streets KB much specific -- the skunks are and should it like to a it's all those people who are spent on our taxpayer dollars and they shouldn't be it's the wasteful spending you know what what gets -- -- It's flat when I think about what they're doing up there if you -- -- pull out our checkbooks I'm I'm confident we're trying to at least balance that.
For them to say that they won't agree to a balanced budget amendment is mind boggling to me.
They're they're taking our dollars and there's wasteful redundant spending we gotta get rid of that.
Before we can go and correct all the problems we have in this country.
So wedding your background do you feel that you bring to the table -- that hearing your opponents don't -- that are gonna make you more equipped to handle these issues.
You know what where -- come from on real street you had to work hard to get out of the apartment complexes that I did.
I watched my want my mother's work ethic and what she showed me on how you get things done.
I had to have a passion to become a top level football player in the NFL.
Then I had to have the same kind of passion to become -- top -- broadcaster for over twenty years.
I had to have a passion for success and disciplines to be the businessman that -- been for thirty years for thirty years I've started jobs -- created jobs so when people come to -- Jenna and they talk about uncertainty and what that does to businesses.
I feel like I've lived in this economy.
I've had to sign the front of checks I've had to make decisions.
For men and women who work for me.
To keep their jobs so that when I come when I come -- what's oddly different about me is the passion and the real street perspective that our country needs right now.
I guess it's good to talk to you about this had a quick final question for you New England Patriots are -- going all the way -- little biased -- -- and I understand you went to college in -- in the California area saw that your 49ers they're well they're not patriot I have not paid years apparently exists.
They right -- -- up at we'll see what happens.
-- Britain will bring you back maybe a little wager on that and that and we like to talk to -- -- more through this race in the county went Texas Craig but.
It's good to talk to you we look forward to having you back thank you so much for coming on.
And we -- -- the big dance you got -- -- watching -- -- have did you.
