I'm saying also that South Carolina.
Is -- war -- this federal government with this.
Only have they taken them to task on voter ID.
They've also taken on the task on their immigration law and in the most egregious thing obviously as this National Labor Relations Board where they come into a right to work state.
And tell the state of South Carolina we're not Atlantic right.
-- -- response to that last night that a courses presidential candidate Rick Perry at the debate last night doesn't -- Nikki Haley the governor.
South Carolina background and that to a particular sound.
Playing very well with that mostly conservative audience in their last night the senior senator from South Carolina Lindsey Graham.
-- joins us now he is on both the budget and armed services committee of course senator good morning great to have you here what did you think -- the debate last night.
Good morning.
Al loved it I thought the fox crew did a great job the best debate of all.
Is between you know watching a football game sometimes -- wrestling match and it.
Good debate about conservatism.
Hats off -- spots in the candidates did really well the outlook -- in Rick -- not -- out apart with his answer there.
It well -- -- -- got a huge response from the crowd -- it was in the audience.
You know obviously.
Let's take a look at we can't we look at the poll yet in South Carolina where Mitt -- has really been.
Trending head in South Carolina what what's your feel last night.
-- -- the rim there is that's shifting at all.
-- there was some momentum and they did very well last night.
You know primaries about a contest between the heart -- the head I think governor Romney's done a good job convincing people he's intellectually gifted he's got a good background.
He's gonna have to do a better job of winning people's hearts the other candidates like Rick Santorum and Newt.
Did very well last night and I thank you don't have faith at very competitive race the -- the men that did well.
Pro growth economics did well the Second Amendment all of them embrace good conservative velocity the question for south Carolinians.
-- who can go in and take the argument indeed Obama and I don't know who's gonna win yet this wide open them.
You says sending senator that fascinates me you said that Mitt Romney have a hard time -- -- over the people's hearts.
In South Carolina and that -- he did not dear friend John McCain of course one over the hearts last time around.
Asked why do you think that is.
I think miss some really good man -- like him a lot I think he's very electable.
I think he's just being a little bit who.
But you know what -- did last night is he -- people imagine.
Him on the stage with Obama making a good argument a very passionate argument for the conservative calls and not this not about.
You know.
We're not looking at who's the most conservative down here we want to conserve the -- -- -- this.
Matchup conservatism and electability what news got to do it rates get it is.
Is -- they've really -- our hearts in many ways they got to convince us that they can be.
President Obama and you know I thought the debate last night was the best of the mall you got a glimpse in the of these gas relief work in from a national security perspective I hope people and the country understand that we're Ronald Reagan Republicans in South Carolina.
We believe in peace -- -- -- we're not isolationists.
And that was a good night for national security.
From the Lindsey Graham -- -- and perhaps a bad night for Ron Paul asking is January had it with that statement while -- -- volleys he's right about the says he's wrong about.
Foreign policy and in our party last night adopted the Ronald Reagan -- -- sprint model.
And and that was pleasing to me but I can't take his they'll win South Carolina I can tell you this it is wide open.
Really having that that's not what the polls are saying that you're feel is that this is anybody's game in terms of who Newt Gingrich -- talking about did very well last night and also -- army believe they have a shot at the number one spot South Carolina.
Absolutely and Mitt didn't hurt himself last night he did very well.
But -- did the one thing he had to do last night remind us all while we like to.
And rich reminded us all while we respect and and Mitt did a very competent job.
But it's noon in -- continue to perform Thursday like they did Monday.
And Governor Perry was -- best performance by far.
This is going to be a nail biter missing.
Before -- I just gonna get get that question of heart and the heart of South Carolina and mean what you see as Mitt Romney's inability to connect with.
The people there he's out they're trying to do that on the ground today.
What would you what would you tell the dale.
Talk a little more about his missionary work talk a little bit about.
You know just basically.
Running companies and trying to create jobs and when -- ask about you know people losing their job.
And just say listen without Bain Capital all these companies were going to fail.
We gave them the best chance we could end.
It's heart breaking when it doesn't work but -- a business that saved a lot of jobs we provided financing that they weren't gonna get otherwise.
And in at -- last night he did a great job on national security and half -- Mitt Romney out be talking more about.
The commander in chief job and talk about defeating radical Islam and just just kinda.
Let his hair down a little bit for lack of a better way of saying it is a good -- in there's there's a heart there.
Well senator unit is certainly know how to connect with people in South Carolina even do it for many years.
And we thank you so live where we understand each other -- I think advice for the candidates and make it sound like a very interesting race in South Carolina we're gonna -- We'll see how goes thank you senator stay tuned.
