And tonight we are only for a few short hours away from Decision Day in South Carolina as voters will soon head to the polls in the first in the south primary.
And last night the candidates live in their final pitch to voters including my next guest that is former Pennsylvania senator.
Rick Santorum who had some very strong words for governor Mitt Romney.
On the subject of health care let's take a look.
-- stood by the fact.
That Massachusetts has the highest health insurance premiums of any state in the country it is 27%.
More expensive than the average stay in the country.
Doctors.
-- if you're in them a Massachusetts health care system.
Over 50% of the doctors now are not seeing new patients primary care doctors and not -- new patients.
Those who do get to see impatient on waiting 44 days on average for the care it is an abject disaster.
He's standing by -- and he's gonna have to run against the president.
He's gonna have to run against a president who's gonna say well look.
Look at what you did for Massachusetts and you're the one criticizing me for what I've done I used your model Ford.
And joining me now from the campaign trail in South Carolina that's presidential candidate former senator Rick Santorum senator welcome back to program.
Thank you John great to be with you.
Great to have it you know I guess I congratulations are in order because.
We now found out -- it after the Iowa caucus you're lost by eight votes but it turns out -- it's certified you won by 34 months.
I guess every vote counts and -- it there were no dimpled hanging swinging chads and all this whole thing.
Now we feel very very good about that you know the -- Iowa caucus certify the highest percentage that they've never certified in the history of the caucuses it was that tight election.
Would have been nice to find that out on election night as opposed to up to now but I he really has given us a little bit of a bump here here in South Carolina the last 24 hours.
We've noticed it on the ground then well.
It would have been better to have gotten that decision and I might end up put a little taken -- little wind out of the sails of governor Romney in the seven of the inevitability argument hopefully the people of South Carolina are now looking at the conservative actually won a primary and actually finished ahead of the conservative -- now for two consecutive great -- Yet I'm not sure if you are able to hear former speaker of the house Newt Gingrich and in the prior segment but I did ask about.
Your criticism that he -- that he suggested that this has got to come down to Romney or non Romney.
Do you agree -- with that narrative and what would your reaction he was so he said -- a friend of mine.
He has every right to stay in the -- sub just suggesting that this splitting the anti Romney vote or did not Romney though whatever however you want to define it.
Well there's different in my two and and and and -- and you know we as he mentioned -- about affection with a family and I I would just say this that I don't think it's it's -- and -- Romney vs.
Romney race I think it there are three candidates in this race had a chance to be president.
And one of the music is a conservative the other two.
Are not a reliable conservatives and -- have a lot of conservatives who have lined up behind me nationally.
Because they are concerned not just with Mitt Romney but they're concerned with.
The match up going into the fall with.
Newt Gingrich who was for twenty years in favor.
They mandate individual mandate at the federal level the exact thing that we're now suing.
States are suing hints at the end going to the Supreme Court that is the basis -- core of obamacare.
You look at the Wall Street bailouts again both new end -- -- for the Wall Street ballots -- She won down the list of all of these things that are major issues global warming signal that got couch with Nancy Pelosi.
-- you don't take cast himself was a conservative is great to do but you gotta have a record to back it up and it's I would say it's it's really Rick Santorum against which one of these moderates that that that we're gonna I'm gonna be up against.
Try to guess this is going to be coming down note to a battle of who is -- gonna define themselves as the most conservative.
I wanna put that aside because I I think there was a lot of that last night I think people people understand.
You know the strengths and weaknesses now at this point in the campaign of all the candidates I'm a little frustrated as a conservative.
I think you have been unfairly attacked I think governor Romney on this idea well he has -- bank accounts in the -- -- I think that's unfair.
I think the media regard detaining an old story from fourteen years ago that has been told by an ex -- I think that's unfair in your case.
It got very personal.
The media has sought out and reported on you know an ex boyfriend of your wife they have questioned it some commentators.
The issue of how you dealt with the death of a much higher yields.
That to me is offensive especially in light of how the media gave Obama -- -- in 2000 and they don't want you to respond to.
You know dealing with the media in this race and do you think it's unfair.
It's it's fundamentally unfair but but you know it.
These folks are are despicable what they will do to promote their agenda they're all in the tank and they have been in the tank for the left whether it's Barack Obama or any other candidate.
And I just dealing with this issue S as -- and other conservatives have.
For every you know every year I've ever been in public life and we've been.
Is sabotage in every possible way admitted it -- You go on the Internet look at look at the the filth.
That is spewed out there look at organizations like Google I -- Google who has repeatedly.
On more than one occasion taken down sites taken down searches for folks like Barack Obama Michelle Obama.
But his let it out there for me for ten years so people can be exposed to the most horrific filth that you never want to see.
But it's okay if you're conservative you can you can do it -- Google wants to do that because they have a Bob political agenda which they do.
It's not just the mainstream media it is anyone that has access to the eyes and ears of the American public.
And they are consistently trying to destroy what that -- fundamental values in this country and conservatives who fight for.
