Now let's find out what's happening to the with the GOP race for the nomination and joining us now governor -- -- Mitt Romney governor thanks for joining us.

Thanks Brian good to be with him great -- it.

Governor I'm sure you I know you did the pre -- to the state union last night.

We're gonna play a little snippet for you because it sure sounded like.

We know that out on the -- you talk about restore America it sure sounds like the president is stealing some of your language listen as governor.

We are -- for our country -- a shrinking number of people do really well.

While a growing number of Americans barely get by.

Or we can restore an economy where everyone gets a fair shot.

And everyone does their fair share and every one -- by the same federal.

Okay so it sounds like he's you know he's stealing some your language and then he takes I shot it at guys like you who he says.

Are not playing by the rules your reactions are.

Well of course he knows better than that but the key I think him -- last night's debate was just the extraordinary disconnect.

Between.

What he thinks America is experiencing right now what's really happening I mean he seemed to think that were on the right track things are going extraordinarily well.

I'm here in Florida -- talking to people who've lost their homes.

It in real numbers about 18% of the people this in this state or auto workers stopped looking for worker seriously under employed.

People are hurting out there and his policies of the last three years have not made things better they made it -- and so what's he gonna do and set -- -- -- like that.

Try and find blame point fingers and other people but frankly he is responsible for what's happening in this economy and I think that's one reason why he's in real trouble.

But how are you gonna get a wave or out of his whole fair share argument because this poll shows that in 2009 -- majority Republicans and independents.

Didn't think that there was any fallout between the rich in the poor in this country but now when those people are polled Republicans and independents.

They think that there's a stronger very strong conflict before the rich -- the port so this fair share argument appears to be working on the people how -- you.

Mitigate that.

Well what I'll point out -- that in order to get our economy going we want to have people invest in America.

Build businesses here -- grow businesses here this is a very anti on -- pro nor anti business president.

He's now engaging in class warfare and rhetoric decide to divide America.

If if we divide this country our future will not be anywhere nearest big bright and prosperous -- we can have we pull pull together.

Encourage individuals to invest in our future.

That's what's always happened America's past.

And and the president I think is going to -- a very dangerous course.

In it I think you try to save his job by my try to tear down fellow Americans.

Well governor there's something else you're trying to do is get that job and -- -- you're doing now I understand going to a quinnipiac poll.

The -- basically leaning back in Florida a substantial lead in double figures it disappeared by Tuesday seems to be back.

Why do you think that is.

Well the polls this bounce all around but I -- do you think that the people want to have an individual who understands what it takes to get this economy going again.

-- I spent my life and the private sector.

I also have had four.

Areas of responsibility where I led at institutions to businesses analytics and a state.

I think people want to have someone who's actually led who's actually run something and they realize this country's in trouble they want good jobs.

And I'm convinced that I'm gonna be able to -- to -- the American people that this president is way over his head.

That he's disconnected from reality and the when he gives an address in talks about all the things he's gonna do.

People realize he's been an office three years he had a Democrat house and senate for two of those years why hasn't he done those things he's talking about already.

Sure you know I have heard more than 100 governors say they -- the reasons they think that you are do -- little better down in Florida.

He is the fact when you look last week and Newt Gingrich had that great opening at the debate in South Carolina where he was able to chop off John king's head.

And then a couple nights ago on Monday night in that debate.

You really took it to Newt Gingrich I mean you've got some differences with his record and you -- about it in being a failed leader.

And you know a guy.

All along those lines.

You really appeared to be so much stronger than other debate performances is that.

The -- persona we can expect to see again down in Florida.

Well there's no question that that's what I'll take to the president I'm gonna battle the president directly -- on.

A point out -- his his policies have failed the American people.

But of course where there are differences between myself and my fellow candidates -- what those out as well.

And by the way.

It's very easy to -- to talk down a moderator.

The moderator asks a question and that has to sit by and and take whatever you send to them and content and speaker Gingrich has been wonderful in attack in the moderator.

And attack in the media that's that's always say a very favorite test.

The response for the home crowd.

But it's very different to have candidates go against candidates and that's something I'll be doing -- -- President Obama if I get the chance to be our nominate.

That this guy has been a failure for the American people he has not gotten people back to work.

Internationally he shrunk the power of our military.

He has to be a guy who we -- we -- -- from the White House.

So I want you to listen to something that Nancy Pelosi has gone on the record now is saying she's -- -- about a month ago that maybe she had something on Newt Gingrich.

And she might spilled the beans.

So now she's saying that Gingrich will never be president does she tell us why let's listen.

He's not going to be president of the United States forces here that that's not going to happen but let me just make my prediction and stand -- it.

It isn't going to happen -- -- sure.

That's something I know.

The Republicans if they choose to nominate him -- that there provocative.

I didn't think that's going to happen.

So mr.

Romney what does Nancy Pelosi know it was if it would be such a -- -- -- as to why Newt Gingrich couldn't be president.

I wish I knew what that was.

-- tell people that is right now.

But -- it that's that's one of the reasons why I'm saying that all of the records that were part of the ethics investigation.

All of the transcripts all of the records have to be made public not just the final -- report.

But the full record the reason that 88% of the Republicans of the house voted to reprimand their own speaker first time in American history that's happened.

We need to understand why that is and those records need to be really stupid as you know that if Nancy Pelosi knows those things right now.

She will hand them to Barack Obama's campaign is speaker Gingrich where I nominate you -- Newt Gingrich -- what -- do with Fannie and Freddie when he didn't do what is titled actually was yesterday Newt Gingrich joined us.

It's -- I just found out that Mitt Romney was an investor in Fannie and Freddie what's the truth.

I think that's pretty funny my investments of course are our managed not by me for the last ten years.

They've been guided -- managed by a -- -- to blind trust.

And the the -- invest in mutual funds and so forth apparently one of the funds.

Had Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac bonds.

That makes me an investor in those enterprises that -- picks me someone who is contributing to them as opposed to Newt Gingrich who is taking money.

Out of that.

And getting paid obviously to say things that were in their favor I mean he was he was a shilling for he was a standing up for Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae.

At a time than those when those institutions were contributing to what would become one of the greatest debacles in American economic history.

Well of course Newt Gingrich says that he was not a lobbyist and yesterday Rick Santorum on our show say that he probably was not a lobbyist either.

But the debate will continue Thursday night when all of you face off again.

Good to see you governor thanks so much for your time.

That's Gretchen and Steve Brian -- to be with you that.
