And today there are some new questions about the Justice Department have they ever released another document dump.
Late Friday afternoon -- these new emails came out and they refer to the botched gun running operation known as fast and furious.
Now the US attorney general Eric Holder will testify this week.
Before and this is for the first time the house oversight and Government Reform Committee.
Lawmakers have been demanding answers surrounding what the attorney general knew about fast and furious and when he learned -- Here is testimony from mr.
holder on two different occasions on this matter.
When did you first know about the program.
Officially -- we've called fast and furious I'm not sure the exact date -- probably heard about fast and furious for the first time over the last few weeks.
In my testimony before the house.
I did say a few weeks.
I probably could have said a couple of months who think that what I said it in terms of using the -- a few weeks was enacted based on.
-- was November.
That year Republican congressman that -- Labrador was the first lawmaker to formally call.
For Eric Holder to resign he is on the committee that will be questioning the attorney general this week good to have you here at cars and -- -- Thanks for having -- What do you think is revealed in these new documents that were just dumped on Friday evening from the Department of Justice.
You know the question all along has been what did he know and when did he know it he has been denying that he knew anything about the program.
And now we find out of the -- after the death of a Bryan Terry the office of the comptroller of the Border Patrol agents who died because of the program.
He actually his chief of staff found out about it.
His chief of staff actually told him about the shooting -- Brian Terry.
And but we don't have any evidence whether he.
How exactly what information was given to.
To the attorney general -- but it's pretty amazing to me the attorney general would actually find out that one of his officers.
Was killed by some guns and the he didn't ask any in depth questions about it.
Yes and I mean that shooting of the border agent I remember you know we reported it here when it happened so that became public knowledge pretty much.
Right away but the questions are you know how that information was transmitted in terms of whether or not there was a connection to the guns that were found at the scene.
Now let's let's pull up some of this say email that has gone back and forth here.
Because this comes from -- mr.
Burke in Arizona.
In the change house office there and it goes to the deputy chief of staff.
For Eric Holder as -- -- alerted the AG holder.
The acting DAG and Lisa ex set her up and then it goes on he followed up later that day with -- -- this contact from Arizona.
And told him told Wilkinson who was holders.
That the guns that were -- at the scene were from fast and furious.
And -- take a look at this next -- he says guns connected back the guns found in the desert near the murder.
Of the officer connect back to the investigation.
That -- -- gonna talk about they were the AK forty -- purchased at the Phoenix gun -- so it begs a huge question here.
They told Eric Holder the attorney general that this border agent went down and that he died subsequently.
Why would they not go back to him and as say an and they also just told us that the guns found at the -- were connected to this program.
And and that's the question they told them about the the shooting they told them that the agent had died.
And now he wants us to believe that he didn't ask any additional questions so as I said from the beginning.
I say he's either lying or he's incompetent this is a man that has such callous indifference to what happened to one of -- Border Patrol agents.
That he decided he wasn't gonna follow up on any questions he wasn't gonna find out exactly what happened to -- Terry and how it was that these people got think these guns.
But you know that and that's preposterous if classic case you know -- mr.
Wilkinson who worked for Eric Holder was told -- this email that they believe that the guns that were found at the scene had a connection to fast and furious.
What's it has he been questioned mr.
Wilkinson why would you not then pass that information a -- to the attorney general.
You know and that's what the questions have been asked to all the people he's no longer in in the office -- attorney general.
But we have been asking the question of all these people we're gonna continue to ask and that's why we're having this hearing on Thursday.
We want to know exactly what the attorney general knew.
And now that we have this information that he actually -- his attorney that his chief of staff actually found out the day after Brian Terry's death.
That is chief of staff actually had communications with the attorney general.
How is it that he can come to congress and tell us that he didn't know anything about fast and furious and he didn't know anything about about the death of Brian Terry or the link between fast and furious and that the breath.
That's the big question in my mind if if his deputy -- deputy -- there was a link why wouldn't he have transmitted bad information while he was telling him all this other stop it doesn't make.
A whole lot of sense so we'll see you guys get some answers on -- later this week thank you very much and we did ask that that that basically that Department of Justice is saying that that.
Information was never.
Transmitted to the attorney -- that he knew that Brian Terry was killed did not know until -- time period that he references that he was tonight with the rest books await another hearing -- in the bee headlines and that's for sure also.
