Looking at this really interesting study by the Center for Media and Public Affairs at George.
Mason university not too far from where I live here in the Washington area.
It's a few days old but some of the findings are rather surprising and others are not for -- -- another front runner Mitt Romney is getting by far the most negative.
Press -- the entire Republican field.
Which should get -- -- say it's about 1012 days old and I think they're more than making up for that now with some of the the Gingrich coverage of his anger -- -- negative ads against Romney but also about the CBS is more positive and even fox towards the GOP field.
Which -- -- -- a few stereotypes out there about Fox News.
From our critics who say were unfair and unbalanced but here's the media this survey I'm -- more than this horse race stuff that everybody agrees the media is over focused on.
This -- for -- public affairs also found.
But that -- horse race is getting six times as much coverage as the candidates positions on issues.
I frankly I think that's one of the things that the public is rightly outraged about.
Robert -- the terrific economics writer for the Washington Post -- a great column in today's Paper.
In which he says among other things he goes and analyzes the president's claim.
That's the so called Warren Buffett tax of 830% of minimum.
While everybody.
Oh making over a million bucks is somehow going to bring in enough money to balance the budget he -- this -- rates this argument it's it's just one of the best pieces I've ever read.
But you won't find that seeping into the mainstream media as a matter of fact you won't see any of Obama's claims made in the state of the union.
Or anywhere else dissected by the three broadcast networks MSNBC.
Or CNN they just don't know what they focus -- on -- how horse race.
And the public is being robbed of their right to know as a result.
Let me ask you -- Powell about the fact that I and I heard this on FOX & Friends so I know must be true then and -- seen.
Is the one that has portrayed Mitt Romney.
As the most negative it in the most negative way -- -- Fox News Channel has been within the margin of error I'm sure it was like.
48 to 52.
Either way how important is that to portrays this accurately can you really sway an election.
Well I think -- close election especially among women which of the main focus of the morning.
Programs if you watch these things which I gave up doing years ago except when absolutely have to.
It's all -- women oriented women focused and the commercials are mostly.
Directed against women because the advertisers believe that women make the major.
Purchasing decisions and America and they're the ones they want to reach so I'm not think that women are just focused and are intelligent and -- Figure out for themselves what's going on but if you get people who are not really into politics don't pay much attention to -- between elections.
And all they do is get their information from either the comedy channel or the morning broadcast.
News programs today Good Morning America and whatever they call that CBS -- now then you can be influenced by this stuff particularly -- sustain steady stream from one perspective as it usually is on this programs.
You would never say that the women are not Smart enough.
I don't know he goes just shut -- finally go to cal and I'm not gonna ask you this is how it is it sure house.
But do you think that women are really influential in determining how their men vote.
Well I certainly do you remember the soccer moms demographic during the Clinton administration -- the big thing that the the Democrats especially -- after.
-- you want some of these programs like 48 hours and CBS and dateline on NBC they're virtually all about abused women missing women dead women.
-- predatory men -- hold lifetime cable channel is about that you can't find an honest covenant keeping them on that channel world jerks were all rapists were all.
World vendors were all users we're all drunks or drug addicts are being there and you get a steady diet of this bad at you you're gonna influence a significant number not only of women have been involvement as well lobby that's just the way it is.
