-- -- I'll -- -- Bob Livingston was chairman of the Appropriations Committee a great friend for many years he was the first person.
To email me and say -- -- governor Romney was saying about my departure was just plain not true.
And he was there and you now that the Wall Street Journal say governor Romney is just plain not telling the truth.
You've had national review this morning saying governor Romney just plain not telling the truth.
You cannot get to be president if you don't have the courage to tell the truth to the American.
I guess desperate times bring out to desperate things and look I I think that this has been a an aggressive campaign here in Florida.
I got to beaten up pretty heavily in South Carolina by very strong attacks we came back and responded and made sure that my message got through.
And I'm pleased with the fact that at this stage I'm getting a great response from the people of Florida and hope to win tomorrow.
That -- -- a little taste of exactly how pleasant the contest for the Florida Republican primary has become.
Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney dueling it out with.
Question each other's integrity it's a very vicious fight that's going on down in the sunshine state and this Internet is power play.
And we are here yet again inside the mother ship is I'm up in New York so we can help count the votes and hopefully tell you as soon as possible.
Who's going to be the big winner tonight as you watch on the Fox News Channel Fox Business.
And of course streaming live here at foxnews.com.
It's going to be an interesting night I promise you that.
But it's going to be an interest in late morning too because it is our great good fortune to welcome back to the show.
Former New York senator Republican Alfonse D'Amato senator welcome back right to be -- it.
Okay and just so that we can keep our belt way.
Is back in studio three onset.
Taking care of things one how they're read back -- -- -- It's a beautiful spring day in late January I don't know what's going it -- he's telling us something about what's gonna pop in bloom in Florida.
I've been nice here -- you want it's nice everywhere that that's better than.
And we're all nice to each -- now we're going to have these these two esteemed gentlemen breakdown what they think's gonna happen in Florida but let's find out what the facts on the ground are.
The situation today.
You know Carl Cameron Internet.
Let's see what Carl has to say from Tampa.
-- Chris said hello senator D'Amato that -- hear your voice and Juan Williams.
Greetings from Tampa on the site of -- Romney campaign headquarters tonight and the site of the August 30 Republican National Convention.
Where Newt Gingrich says he'll stay in the race until then if necessary in order to beat Mitt Romney.
And Chris you talk about it being such a nasty race they've just been having a pleasant stroll through the sandy beaches and Zamora.
Meandering through the palm trees make -- nice yeah idea that -- Gingrich is calling Mitt Romney part of the Obama administration's war on religion shouldn't be considered nasty that the idea that Mitt Romney would -- Newt Gingrich of being responsible for the financial real estate collapse here because of his consulting work for Freddie Mac that's not negative.
Let's -- this is probably -- right they're just talking about he had this is.
It has been an amazingly toxic last week here in Florida.
And the Gingrich and Romney have left almost no weapons on the table they've listed them they've -- the weapons they've fired away as my best they can.
And in the last couple of days particularly.
Gingrich has pulled out everything he possibly can to try to slow down Mitt Romney.
The polls at 11 Suffolk University poll which is a pool the University of Massachusetts we should point out.
Said that Romney had a twenty point advantage here the average in the real clear politics polls before today tagging -- had -- Gingrich trailing by double digits.
And the Romney campaign has vastly outspent Newt Gingrich here the super pac supporting Romney likewise the Gingrich super pac.
There are very few metrics that appear to be going in Gingrich's favor.
The polls even suggest that across the board in all sectors of the electorate here in Florida Romney has an advantage including with conservatives.
Not a good recipes were former speaker.
And he has been saying now for several days that he will campaign well beyond Florida and that this race will go on and on this morning actually he said.
I'll go until June or July.
Or until Romney quits.
Which it doesn't seem likely given the situation here in Florida at least in the immediate future.
Ron Paul and Rick Santorum long since abandoned Florida this is a winner take all state with fifty delegates in play.
If you come in second or third you get nada so they've moved on today they're both in Colorado and focusing on that State's caucus which doesn't come until February 7.
The First Act out contest that come after Florida obviously being Nevada and the start of the main caucuses where they're both competing.
It does look as -- Romney is in pretty good shape here.
He hasn't really been damaged by the attacks from Gingrich if anything last night watching Mitt Romney sing America the beautiful with the crowd at the villages.
If that doesn't border on overconfidence and copy one doesn't know what it is not that he's got a bad voice it was -- that it was.
Very very effective at different.
-- -- you have a wonderful voice to move introducing next time we thank you for making time for us today though you won't back.
OK with -- soon Carl thanks much.
Okay now let's talked to somebody else out of Florida very quickly.
Before we get to our esteemed panelists Phil Keating whose talking about those last minute voters -- a Florida who basically constitute.
Newt Gingrich's best hope for a surprise finish here in Florida -- how we go to net.
We're doing very well especially the -- work crowd it was quite busy here preaching number 813 and senator lot of -- -- why I've got to tell you we started the day with forty degrees.
Temperatures -- had a New York DC whether.
Now is classic Florida January 31 temperatures in the seventies not a cloud in the sky and Jim rush right back there in the orange vest.
He's -- here throughout all of these weather changes and he's.
Bracing himself now for the launch rush we are in the second largest registered Republican.
Area of Hillsborough County were about a half mile or half hour drive east -- Carl is downtown Tampa.
And this also this location right here have the second highest.
Early voting turnout so we're expecting quite a bit.
-- voters to come out here today and of course stay wide about a million.
Florida registered Republicans will be sporting one of these.
On their tour so I voted.
-- about 13.
Of all registered Republicans already didn't vote either by absentee via the mail.
Four by standing in line for early voting which ended on Saturday so the Republicans -- in Tallahassee the party organizations say.
More Republicans requested absentees this year.
Then two years ago that shows great energy as we head towards November the voters are telling us today.
A couple of key points.
Really affected their votes some of them.
Just decided over the past -- -- to vote for Rick Santorum and what turned them off.
What is the non stop television and long slot.
Of attack ads by.
Newt Gingrich against Mitt Romney and Mitt Romney against Newt Gingrich and of course Romney's campaign and his -- support.
I'll spend Gingrich by about four or five to one on the airwaves in -- Miami market to Orlando and the -- market has been nonstop every commercial break.
In the news and in prime -- programming it's been these negative attack ads and the voters are turning out the cast their -- We spoke with people who support Romney OK if they had the best chance others there's like Gingrich so it's a run across the board a long -- still ahead.
Well we wish you the best in that long day thanks so -- have a great debt.
Let's -- start here on -- with senator D'Amato.
Looks pretty good for Mitt Romney today right I think Romney's trying to win all the indications are there I don't know if it's going to be.
More than twelve points.
I think they'll last analysis you just heard people voting for -- -- That is because Romney ads have been effective for -- though it true right Winger.
Right there -- real conservative.
This social -- -- if they -- abandoning Gingrich into going to sandstorm.
And they don't need if you're the Romney campaign you don't need these people to vote for -- you just need them not to vote for Gingrich right exactly yeah exactly OK one down NBC do you agree with the senator's assessment.
You know what -- just think to me a thousand Florida last week Chris and two things struck me when is that you know Gingrich's -- -- that they had had an infusion of money coming from Sheldon Adelson.
And this money came after the victory in the momentum in South Carolina but.
-- -- a twelve point a twelve play shockingly large margin for Gingrich in South Carolina twelve point.
Yeah right I didn't see the money on the street.
I mean all the advertising Phil Keating Keating referred to this.
All the money all the ads are running and it's big and this morning for example in the Wall Street Journal says that Romney out.
Gingrich seven million dollars to one million dollars -- I.
I don't know if the money didn't come in for Gingrich I don't know he has money going forward.
But it's very interesting to -- the second thing I would say is this.
And I would be -- him and senator -- -- I noticed that Sarah Palin Rush Limbaugh.
Mark -- a lot of the conservative radio talk show -- including those in Florida as well as Herman Cain.
-- in the last few days rallied around Gingrich I don't know what that means I don't know if there is now going to be a surge I don't see your -- We also want you shaken and upset -- -- it -- if you know I think something's world with their brains.
I I definitely got July and I -- trash -- Any Conservative Political Action Committee here in New York to Conservative Party headed by Mike Long I guess yesterday up in the -- capital a little Albany.
And I said to them very candidly.
If you think.
That didn't make -- get that that Mitt Romney is not conservative enough.
Let me ask you you wanna shoot four more years of Obama.
Because of the Gingrich's think candidate they will take dismissed -- he is created in by the way.
Back to call someone and say that they're not telling the truth which usually Gingrich's high -- due to -- out.
And the guy -- who is a labeling and -- -- you when you hear the old adage about the pot calling the kettle black.
This guy is a stranger to the truth he was a lobbyist for Freddie Mac this business didn't -- Of being an historian is just a lot of -- governance but understand that their politics she's pretty good.
They will shape.
-- Michigan which lets see the history that -- well.
What documents did you give him what it was the work product for a 1600000.
Dollars though he was a lobbies that Romney -- instead.
You broke the law.
Pretty clearly did.
Hitting well -- -- -- when he didn't file as a lobbyist this nonsense of being a good -- it is statue of limitations may have run one I have.
Ron why are not committed a criminal act want to.
How this thing that there is a rock and that there is a Gingrich endorsement about to be forthcoming from the mother did not hear from senator D'Amato I want to ask you both very quickly before I let you go.
Do you believe Juan.
Speaker Gingrich when he says he will fight on the fight -- on the -- fight them on the landing fields.
-- his -- -- when he's going to take this even if he gets -- in Florida.
I guess skunk -- in Florida that he will take it all the way to the convention and fight for every delegate do you buy it.
Here's the thing I think -- the egos and bounded back.
Beyond that up let Todd -- -- -- -- gratitude because here I am not power play with US senator Mata who were political pros.
So that Gingrich -- -- telling me this Chris.
That they believe the Republican Party is -- party based in the southern states.
And they believe they can run the table we're talking here Alabama Georgia Newt Gingrich's home state Mississippi Louisiana.
They're not on the ballot in Virginia's they can't get that but they believe they'll do well in the Carolinas.
So they believe that they -- amass a significant number of delegates and prevent Romney from claiming the nomination outright.
-- their -- Senator do you think that he'll stay and you think he's going to be a lot my -- to stand IV one he's gonna he's finished day but I think he's gonna get skunk.
-- -- -- -- And I think it's incumbent upon those of us who want a Republican in the White House to speak out.
About just how fluid he is -- is a terribly flawed candidate.
And I've talked to him about his matrimonial business taxes on.
I'm so how -- I thought Duncan.
About his action in congress where he was lobbying and failed to lobby.
Not only as a related to Freddie Mac finally wanting and he attacks him on the other hand he's working -- gets paid a 1000006.
Let me give me a break.
It just thinking why.
We have -- -- Martha MacCallum is waiting in the wings talked as you.
You guys are great but she's better.
I'm and I'm gonna I wanna I wanna give Newt Gingrich credit for this.
He's brought together a Republican and a Democrat today Al D'Amato and Juan Williams we are -- morning good thing bringing bringing it to get bringing people together OK senator we thank you for making anti Christ today.
Juan -- the seat warm ports in DC we'll see you soon.
Take care Chris OK guys are gonna to.
