Occupiers and unions -- The big -- but it bash in Washington -- me.
It does more conservative lawmakers are pushing right to work -- unions hate them but are they the right next to get Americans working again.
Hi everyone I'm Brenda -- this is Bulls and Bears Iran duet bullpen -- -- Gary B Smith Tobin Smith.
Jonas Max Ferris along with a million and neck and David Mercer welcome -- everybody okay New Hampshire trying to do with Indiana -- did.
Make it stay right to work to attract jobs Gary -- you say that's the right move for workers why.
Absolutely -- I'm surprised all fifty states haven't done this because the facts bear out let's look at.
Just some of the items when you compare right to work states -- non.
Right to work State's right to work they have -- GDP growth.
They have higher wage growth.
They have higher pay.
They have more productivity.
They have higher population growth and they have more the population covered by private insurance.
You have to scratch your head -- and say why isn't this did the rule in every state.
In the country.
-- -- -- You don't agree with that -- Well if you located other facts that being states that are right to work like Alabama Arkansas Florida.
They all have unemployment rates and -- above the national average in addition to that.
A lot of those states that are right to work are also ones that are on the federal dole.
In returning less tax dollars back to defense.
Then they receive and so you know to say that it's a panacea I don't think really matches up with the facts.
Okay -- got to bring -- be here tell me.
Up against that -- man.
It's like c'mon man I mean not only did it did national labor relations institute who's got a ten -- -- -- -- not a -- -- to your site is that ten years studied every one of the numbers has been in favor right or do what is right to work instantly.
The fact that you're not forced to pay union dues or be a union member to work in America.
I don't even I don't even understand that concept.
When you look at our -- and and how he would force people to pay union dues to have less growth and less wages that that's not out -- -- alcohol you with that of our mantra.
Okay we'll let him -- let -- get somebody that can help be a little bit -- I wanna I wanna bring in everybody first Jonas you actually think that there is -- cost to low.
-- in car costs at some point.
Yeah I mean there's a lot of factors and all these states is what's helping their congressman not you know it's about energy and people moved them because they're warmer which -- economy -- nothing to do with the label us.
But I also broadly speaking if you if you -- -- lower the cost of hard -- but you can see the unemployment rate going down and I think guys would pull more people to work.
It's a diminishing returns every -- if they did to Gary -- what would they keep steel workers from other states after a certain point but also there's there's also some.
Some -- which is the wages and this states that are generally.
Not right to work are richer they got higher per capita income their wealthier states that -- -- GPs.
So it's for example you get more for a look at -- as you more likely get pension benefits in a state that is not right to work so.
Do you wanna lower labor cost you will lower don't read the jury the sacrifices of the workers gonna get fewer benefits and you're -- that can be a benefit in some cases particularly medium high unemployment like we do now.
But is not always a great solution for everybody particularly the workers.
But that wanna go to our small business owner -- does this help.
You are employees does it help you as an employer.
Look at the bottom the bottom line is is that it they -- the daytime and jobs are gonna come from small businesses that the facts that's not made up.
And if you talk about the small business being able to -- it and the reality is that you don't let -- -- -- right to work state you golden handcuff me I can't.
If I'm not in a right to work state but a -- com now I have leverage I can employee.
I can do kicking -- cash -- cash and I can have a lot faster.
Then if you handcuffed me where the union can basically shut me down because I can't afford it in my -- so as a small business if you want us to do what we need India which is a lot of work and the next couple years.
That you have to make it a right to work okay it's -- David take that on.
Take on that -- I would say let's injuring union workers are not into trying to shut down businesses and that's why this collective bargaining and you negotiate with your workers accidentally no wonder -- I say you don't have a right to work.
But there is part of this Everett initiative.
Is two -- labor unions we are seeing it over and over -- I tend not outgoing guy that -- you know if you are a lot like if I am not out.
New Hampshire has five point 1% unemployment.
And South Carolina a right -- state has nine point 5%.
And that unclear who wanted them and that's selling and the older of the good numbers do the math I the map every day at this mother doesn't.
Saturday is -- David you can't take one stay out of context you have to take all of this -- -- I'm -- -- the prices in New Hampshire and South Carolina and your unique it's -- I don't know you've been dubbed big isn't -- a little bit this.
And the -- of the -- your statistics are wrong based on that.
I'm nothing wrong over the next to hear it it's going to be on the backs of small business smoking -- and that's why don't we let.
Continue with unemployment rate of five point 1% instead of becoming a right to work and ending up like South Carolina -- -- -- kind of looking at.
Apples and oranges here let let me or badges -- hold on just a minute.
Let me Jeff -- and Ilya as a small business owner again take take on David's argument about about that issue.
That wedding the wedding is -- he's talking about these talk about stayed over stay in -- talking about.
In that state where the the unemployment is lower.
They have more season -- -- long -- businesses and higher in manufacturing which means the bigger business.
That is not what we're talking about when we talk about growing America.
If you're gonna need jobs we need them from what's -- and 60% of that comes for small business -- small business like myself which means I am -- 150 million dollars or lower or less than 500 employees.
If you union decides that they're going to push back against me about say.
You must offer the Freeney and health care or you must give us.
You know two weeks off -- I can't afford to do that in my margins which -- they have no choice but to -- move -- -- -- right work or shut down I can't.
Am I -- -- -- -- you're not competitive with providing the proper wages for people to make a New Orleans and yeah Americans -- is -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Is I'm not denying the role small business and that kind of I think most if we use a dwindling for -- if -- -- union 95% likely you're working for the government or company and -- thousand employees -- auto maker made talking when you PS my.
There's there's not a lot of small business with a high union labor force -- I saw don't think it's that big of an -- I'm not denying again as an employer to don't want union labor and you wanna keep wages where you wanna keep me a free market not offer the benefits of unions demand.
And negotiate and then make everyone pay well are you -- but -- again I don't think smaller -- is where you.
But here's here's where we do well until it can I've -- about -- it's changed over the last five years now -- business -- -- and NASA retell his ground.
And that the quick hit an -- -- -- we now go get instant that because it now we fight.
Hand in hand with union -- is what we never would have no problem -- yeah unless.
Hold on negotiating we're -- with employee David -- at let me get Kerry -- and here I wonder what you have done it.
Well today David hits on you know the the point that it unions are this panacea he said well unions come in and demand say they're -- doesn't affect.
Hold on but you said -- come -- and demand a fair wage but.
-- -- -- -- -- Could determine what a fair wages properly unions and -- that's not monopoly operates and that's to amigos unions would alienate key market and they don't they can put apple very lovely and he's our.
Let me get a.
One just like meg not -- and and they say this is that fair wage we're mandating -- -- makes it very very difficult.
Britney a company like Emilia -- to negotiate because the union said look this is the fairway.
-- and you put the end of this is -- only can do.
-- -- -- -- -- -- Starts at minimum wage.
Just like union.
Members negotiate with employers dating is -- I don't anger is easier -- -- we -- -- days.
Let Bobby have the last word here yes and sell that much like he's over an ally -- A -- up -- up on any oxygen left for crying out but it quit when your competing internationally.
You know Germany has different type of of labor -- but they have -- health care costs all continue to you have to you have to compete on everything.
In a matter fashion business particularly we're exporting that an -- you have to have -- -- state it's been proven.
Okay all right that's been the last -- thanks guys are right you think health care.
