One education official in Michigan sparking controversy after claiming parents don't know what's best for their children but.
Educators do take a listen.
Educators go through education for a reason they are the people who know best about how to serve children.
That's not necessarily true of an individual.
I'm not saying they don't want the best for their children but they may not know what actually is fast.
From an education.
That hearing was to discuss school school choice and lift the cap on charter schools in the state of Michigan.
Right now we're gonna special again yeah what more in response to these comments founder of the education action group founder.
Kyle Olson who -- -- that by the way that wasn't the teacher right that was an educator suggesting that educators know more.
-- how to handle that kids and parents is that right.
Correct us -- -- she's a representative of one of the principles associations and she was testifying before the house education committee as you said.
And and she made this remarkable statement that parents they may care about their kids but they don't really know what's best for them and of course.
Her solution is the experts who went to education school.
And the bureaucrats do.
And what's interesting about this this exchange is that right after she makes the statement.
The chairman of the committee Tom McMillen is just you know flabbergasted by this statement and he he gives her an opportunity to basically backtrack or explain it.
And she basically repeats it again but I think this is a good glimpse into the deep contempt that the establishment has for parents -- Kyle had no doubt.
Most teachers if not all teachers are out to help kids you know learned things.
And they're they're doing their best job in in most cases but in this particular argument would what she's doing this educator is doing is.
You know keep your kids in the public schools you don't want to regardless charter schools where we don't have that unions we need to handle it right here because we are gonna take care of them.
Perhaps even better than their own parents.
Has anybody come out and said hey she's exactly right.
Not that I've seen coming out of well other then did the unions and you know the establishment who just wants to have a public school system and and not have any choice for -- but beyond that I mean it's just like I said.
It's a perfect example of where the establishment.
The unions and the administrators and the principles in the school boards.
All of those people they want to keep kids can find in a public school system where you were assigned to a school.
Based on your zip code and you have no choice -- and what's interesting about this is that you know we hear from the establishment.
About how parents are involved and parents don't care and in this condescending attitude but I can tell you if parents were truly in charge.
If they were able to walk with their feet and speak with their feet.
And go to the school of their choice we wouldn't see budgets in deficit.
We wouldn't see failing schools.
We would see schools that are thriving because parents are in charge because they do know what's -- -- children.
So how this is this is a hearing in front of the Michigan state house.
What what how did and what what where where to go from there.
They just recently.
Passed the bill and it's now in the their house where darn I'm assuming it will pass but we'll have to wait and see okay so that the question where was about charter schools.
If I'm a parent and my kid is in it failing district I most definitely would consider charter schools to study curiosity.
How are the schools in the state of Michigan doing when it comes to educating our kids.
Well I mean you look at Detroit public schools for example -- had in emergency manager for years now because the budget has been so out of whack.
It has graduation rate well over -- is well under 50% from.
It literally is graduating students who can't read.
I mean it's.
That system is a perfect example of why we need parental school choice exactly all right it interest -- extraordinary things being sent out there.
-- -- also is a pleasure thank you very much for bringing this to our attention.
Thank you --
